CSR not what I expected...

OH my dd (14) is SO excited that CSR has those surrey bikes! She rented one at a campground when we went across the country in 2004 and LOVED it! :woohoo: We haven't seen one since! I told her they have them and she was very excited.:yay: How much is it to rent them? She'll need to earn the money before we leave for our trip...in one week!:cool1:
For 30 mins, the two seater is $16.90 and the 4 seater is $20.65, plus tax. The price sign is on my website below under marina pics.

I am helping some relatives with their WDW trip for next June 2008. It is my sister and her family(including their 7 yr old grandson). I was recommending POFQ but after reading this thread. I am suggesting CSR too.

I am suggesting CSR too. Would CSR be easy to navigate for WDW first timers(they are mid-50's and also late twenty's age couple)? For me it is too prove to relatives why WDW is so wonderful.:wizard:

Sure, this was the first resort I stayed at when we were WDW first timers and nine trips later, I still love it. :thumbsup2

I sent the link to your website about CSR to my family! I give you a report if they choose CSR.

I'm glad to hear so many people liked CSR. It's nice to know some people have good experiences there. DH and I just got back this week and will not be staying there again. Bussing was great, nice and short rides to everywhere, but other than that we did not like it at all. We stayed in Ranchos 7B, and had a 10-15 min. walk to the food court area. Our room was only cleaned twice in 6 days (and both times we had to CALL them to get it cleaned!). My advice is unless you have a car, think about staying somewhere else. We stayed at POR last year and LOVED it, but were very disappointed this year.:sad2:

...it was better! The pictures don't do it justice! I have to admit I was hesitant about staying here because I was never a fan of the southwest motif but this place is absolutely beautiful. We spent a wonderful week (6/2-6/8) here.

We arrived about 11:30 am and went in line to check in. There was a pretty good line but the kids watched TV in the lobby area with my DH while I waited so all was well. I waited about 10 minutes or so... The CM appeared to be new and was unsure about some of the computer procedures. They weren't overly friendly at the desk but I may have had HUGE expectations for our first ever trip. Heck, I was expecting the trumpets to be sounding and confetti to

be flying... :rotfl2: I guess what I really wanted was a bit more conversation and gushing!

We were given 5422 in Casita 5. I had asked my TA to put in a request for the Cabanas but didn't get it. I didn't say anything as I was happy we were able to get a room right away. So we walked over to the Casitas. The grounds are just beautiful. It is pretty far from El Centro and we didn't see any carts going by. In fact, during our vacation we only saw carts going by twice. On checkout, we called for one to help us hike our luggage!

We ordered groceries from GardenGrocer.com and that too was a wonderful experience. Bell services had our groceries and brought them to our room for us. They forgot to bring our cold stuff in the fridge and the CM ran back to get it for us. The order and delivery was perfect.

The best part I feel about the Casitas was Bus Stop #2! We were the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off from a day at the parks. It was wonderful. We always had a seat. Overall, CSR buses were the best IMO. We really never waited any appreciable time for a CSR bus to come while at any of the parks. Half the time we were running to catch the bus as it was already there waiting! I knew Buzz said that the parks were close by and he's not kidding. MK was the longest trip and that wasn't any more than 10-13 minutes (I timed it each time! and that was from Bus Stop 2).

I can't comment too much on Pepper Market as we didn't eat there. We did use snack credits there to go. They had awesome baked items!

The quiet pool near the Casitas was wonderful and empty every time we walked past it. We never had a chance to swim at the Dig Site during the day but we went there one night and that was so much fun to swim in that awesome pool at night. The slide was closed at night as were the water falls etc but it didn't matter at all. The pool is so big that even though there were a lot of people there, it felt that we had the pool to ourselves!

We had wonderful housekeeping and the room was always clean and new toiletries each day. I happened to like the H20 shampoo, conditioner, and lotion and never used my own. We always had plenty of towels and a phone call had more to our door in minutes! Very fast!

The amenities at CSR are great too. My girls loved the Surrey Bike and hammocks!

Overall, this was a very positive experience for our first trip and I don't hesitate to recommend CSR to anyone! Thanks to everyone, especially Buzz, that provided info to make our first stay a magical experience.
I agree with the OP, CSR is a great resort. No shared buses like POR/POFQ and a great main pool area. It's very romantic, especially at night when it is all lite up.

We love rancho 7b. It got the quiet pool, very close to the main pool and the bus stop. The walk isn't bad at all to the main building...5 mins tops.

ps - great photos!

Wow. Sorry you didn't have a good stay. Personally, Ranchos 7B is what we always request. We LOVE that location - very close to the Dig Site pool and a bus stop and a short walk (we feel) to the main building.

As for being without a car, after staying almost everywhere, we feel CSR is the BEST place to be without a car because it has the best bus service we have ever experienced at a Disney Resort. POR, however, we won't ever return to because of the absolutely HORRIBLE bus service we experienced.

Just goes to show how different experiences can be . . .
