CSR not what I expected...

Hey Buzz, we will be at CSR in October :rotfl2: and have requested the Cabanas section ,mainly because of the info from your awesome website...My question for you is, if we can't get the Cabanas what building in the Casistas do you like? It seems like everyone that stays in the Casistas loves it over there...
Here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

Buzz, I was wondering why you don't recomend Casitas 1 on your list? It seems to be the closest of the Casitas. Is there a reason it is not a good choice? I am so looking forward to my Sept stay and really appreciate all the great info you give!
Thank you,
Karen

There is nothing wrong with it. Casita 1 has good courtyard views and is attached to the main building. Casita 1 seems to have more of the convention guests but if being close to the main building is your goal, it is a good spot.

We really enjoy CSR. Stayed 2 times, split w Dolphin. If only they had the Heavenly Bed! Each time we do Disney we make a trip over to CSR just for a nice walk and eat at PM.
Here's a naughty secret.....:confused3 before I knew that pool-hopping was verboten.....DH and I spent a few hours at one of the quiet pools. No flames now! SORRY! It was a long time ago, I know better now! I think we were escaping ASSp on our daughter's High School Softball trip. Sorry, don't like ASSp. No flames now either.
Will visit CSR again this summer from the Dolphin. For a walk and PM. No pool-hoppin' I promise.:hippie:

Thanks everyone for posting such great reviews. This is our first trip ever. Coronado Springs wasn't our first choice. I was wondering if I was just being a spoiled brat about it. The hotel seems more appealing than ever after reading the posts. I really should just relax and enjoy the journey. I tend to be an obsessive planning freak that wants everything to be perfect.

I echo what Jasmine says... thanks everyone for so many reviews and descriptions. I'm getting so excited about our trip.... 3 months to go yet! :scared1: First trip for us to the world, and Coronado Springs looks like the perfect place to celebrate our 25th anniversary

I was totally obsessing about where to stay this September..always was a Value resort user..and a fan..but then my DD and DSIL went this past May and told me "Dad...ya gotta switch..Mom will go crazy waiting for those buses!!!" A revelation!!

Then came a voice in the darkness...Buzz..he of the awesome web site...and our attachment to CSR was born and DW and I are booked there for 7 days in September...

Now I have a 13 person trip to plan next November..taking EVERYBODY!...including the wee ones..seems like a trip for a Value resort, right??? We'll just have to wait and see.;)

Thanks everybody for making this scorching Wednesday magical....:thumbsup2

OH my dd (14) is SO excited that CSR has those surrey bikes! She rented one at a campground when we went across the country in 2004 and LOVED it! :woohoo: We haven't seen one since! I told her they have them and she was very excited.:yay: How much is it to rent them? She'll need to earn the money before we leave for our trip...in one week!:cool1:

Also, you mentioned using garden grocer...I have just learned about that through these boards and am considering it. I have to find some way to save a bit of money on food on this trip. It's going to cost an arm and a leg to feed all 6 of us for 8 days! I plan to pack snacks and stuff in a suitcase, but for fresh foods and milk, I thought I'd use the garden grocer. I was wondering how much I could keep in the mini fridge in the room? What did you get and how did you keep it cold? (if it was too much for the fridge)
I have a folding cooler that I thought I would bring and fill with ice from the ice machines.

Your pix were wonderful. :thumbsup2

I dont think the folding cooler will keep your food for the entire day- it might- The fridge is just one of those under the counter type fridges- small- It will hold some milk, and soda and fruit and such. We used gardengrocer. Ate breakfast in the room. Bagels and such. Saves you time also.

here is a thread discussing fridges

You are going to love it!

We were in Casitas 3 and loved it. Never had an issue with noise. They did set up for a business reception of some sort one day in the courtyard. Never heard anything. It was About a minutes walk to the pepper market and actually the next couple of casitas would be great as well. I would take them to be 4 and 5. I dont have the map in front of me. Casitas is very pretty and reminecent to the resort we stayed at in Mexico.

We stayed at CSR for the first time last January - it was our first stay ever at a moderate (I had to tear myself away from WL and convince myself that it was, in fact, okay to try new places!). We absolutely LOVED it - so much so that we are returning in September for 8 nights... and I canNOT wait. I can't wait to find myself right back there again - maybe in the hammock that your girls seem to have enjoyed! ;)

Thanks for the trip report - it's always nice to read positive things. Oh, and we stayed in Casitas 5 during our trip and Bus Stop #2 was the best ever!

Bab - Did you have plenty of room in the fridge for the things from gardengrocer? I'm just wondering if I should have two delivery dates? One later in the week...for more milk, bread and fruit, etc.
What kind of things did you order? Since I have 2 teenagers, a pre-teen and a 7yr old. (8 just after we return home), I'm wondering how much of anything to order. I will take the non-perishables in a suitcase...since we won't have to handle our luggage once we check in at the airport. It seems to make sense, and I can shop the local sales before we leave.
We've used the folding cooler before. As long as it's filled pretty well with ice, it stays very cold for more than 12 hrs. I'm assuming there's an ample supply of ice at the resort? I'd probably use that to keep the sodas and waters cold...not the milk and such.
I've decided not to request any particular room and just take my chances in where we are put. I've stressed about it before and worried too much about being disappointed. Am I making a mistake, not requesting?

Wow beautiful photos, we're thinking about this resort for next year. It looks stunning. Which block would you recommend?

I love them all for different reasons.

Here are some good building choices in each village.

9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

On the thread about fridges someone stated they got two 1/2 gallons of milk and they fit fine. I did not get milk. It was just my husband and I. I would not suggest getting two orders from garden grocer because of the minimum price of the order- I believe it is $40. You can always get more milk from the store at CSR. We ordered soda, water, jam, cream cheese, couple diff types of bagels, some snacks- best thing is go to gardengrocer.com and play around with an order. See what it takes to make a minimum order. You know peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are good for breakfast as well as lunch or a snack. That and fruit and yogrut. If your cooler will keep the soda cold for you, you will be fine for sure. We really did much better on the days that we ate breakfast in the room - it gave us an opportunity to plan and think about what we were going to do. Another hint - I wish we ate breakfast at the Maya grill on the days we ate in the pepper market- the pepper market was not a whole lot cheaper for us! We ate twice for breakfast at the pepper market.

As far as room request I would say if you are pool people I would request cabannas or Rancheros. We liked being in Casitas- We really are not pool people and it was January when we went. I wore my sandals only two days. And if you dont make a request it wont matter so it wont be a mistake!.I know for us nonsmoking was a big thing and since they have gone nonsmoking it is not an issue. The whole resort is beautiful and you will enjoy it regardless!

From reading all the reviews, I am getting more and more excited about my upcoming trip. Staying at CSR for the 1st time...:cool1:
