We're leaving for our 8 th Disney trip in May 2012, first time at CSR. The ranchos look pretty appealing to me, but it appears not everyone is a fan. Is it just because they appear so far away from everything or? Anyone here love them?:confused3

We really liked them. There was just something about the style of them which appealed to us. We also found their location to be handy to everything we needed, including the main pool. I have to be honest though and admit that we never walked to El Centro from the ranchos, we just drove. We might have felt differently if we didn't have a vehicle with us.

Last trip we had a room over looking the private pool in Ranchos 7B and loved it! A quiet beautiful location.

I'm also curious. we have been in casitas 5, casitas 3 and cabanas 8.
casitas 5 was ok, kind of in the middle between the main pool and el centro. 3 was just gorgeous! 3rd floor, facint the lagoon, but kinda a long walk to the maya pool, but close to el centro.
the cabanas are by far the most convenient to everything, but we find the temem very "blah". we were 1st floor , facing the quiet pool, steps away from it. a few minutes to our car, , so close to everything, but just kinda blah.

hubby always LVOES the look of the ranchos quiet pool. I'm not crazy about the "rocky", NON'plush theme. but it
's the distance to el centro that concerns me.. esp. because of refilling the mugs. the mug refill at maya pool closes so early!

My wife and I stayed in the Ranchos section when we went in May, 2010. We were in building 6A, Room 6113. I liked it. Was fairly close to the main pool, El Centro was about 12-15 minute walk.

I've been in Casitas 1 (once), Casitas 2 (once), Cabanas 9B (three times), Cabanas 9A (once), and Cabanas 8A (twice). I absolutely love how the Cabanas are close to everything (main building and main pool) and request a first floor room somewhere in the Cabanas, with a peference for 8A, every time. I have wandered around the Ranchos several times though. I just don't like anything about them (the theming or the distance from the main building). I love CSR, but always have a fear of being stuck out in the Ranchos. I'll be there in just eleven more days and am hoping for anywhere but the Ranchos.:rotfl: I was really hoping that when they started offering preferred rooms that they'd be in the Cabanas, instead of the Casitas. I'd be willing to pay more if I could guarantee my beloved Cabanas, but am not willing to pay more for a Casitas location.

We stayed in the Ranchos section in 2010 and loved it. The grounds were lovely (very different than the landscaping of our New England home), it was a very short walk to the Dig Site pool, and there was a laundry room very close by. We had a car so if we wanted to go to El Centro, we usually stopped there on our way back from somewhere else. I find it relaxing to stroll around the resort grounds, though, so even walking to El Centro wasn't a big deal to me.

We stayed in Cabanas. but I think I'd be happy in Ranchos. We like to use the pool and it's not far from that. We could always hop on a bus to get to El Centro, and the walk back isn't that far.

We stayed in the ranchos building and it was close to the main pool and we walked every morning to El Centro and thought it was a beautiful way to start our day we were also very close to the bus stop. Great location we would stay there again in a heart beat.

We've been at CSR 4 times: twice in Cabanas and twice in Ranchos. The first time we stayed in Ranchos, we were in the back of Building 6A, facing the parking lot. It was very close to the bus-stop, which was great, but we did not go to El Centro really for anything. I wasn't thrilled with our location, but it was just after they'd started the refurb to add the queen beds and Ranchos was the first to get them, so I knew we'd have brand-new queen beds, so I didn't ask to be moved. This past May we were given rooms in Ranchos 7B. We'd paid for standard-view rooms, but were given rooms literally 20 steps from the quiet pool in Ranchos. It was a super location! We were mabye 5 minutes from the bus-stop, 3 minutes from the parking lot, 3 minutes from The Dig Site and (I timed it) 10 minutes from El Centro. I didn't think that was excessive or all that far. I kind of like the theming of the Ranchos. It's so different from what we have here in our area of Northwest Florida and it really feels like we're in the desert Southwest. I think it's pretty in its own way! :)

We stayed in the ranchos the last time we were at CSR (a few years ago). It was great for us, but we aren't very picky about room location either. It was very quiet. We were in the back, facing the parking lot. It was a 10 minute walk to El Centro, or a 15 minute stroll. The walk was fine even when we were tired from the parks. It was close to a quiet pool and bit of a walk to the main pool and hot tub.

We were close to the bus stop and basically steps away from our car. I guess we could have driven up to El Centro for dinner but it never crossed our minds. :goodvibes

We haven't stayed in Ranchos during any of our CSR trips, but I think I would like it. I like the theming, and proximity to the main pool is much more important to us than being close to El Centro. Rancho 7B is a great location - close to the Dig Site, quiet pool and laundry.

I wouldn't want to walk 15 minutes to/from the pool everyday, but we eat at Pepper Market a couple of times per trip and don't do refillable mugs, so the walk to El Centro would be fine with us.

We really liked the ranchos section. We've stayed in all 3 areas, and I would definately like to stay in ranchos in June...It was really quiet, but I guess all that depends on who you have as neighbors. :rolleyes1 The walk to the dig site was very short and to El Centro was not bad at all.

we LOVED the ranchos section. most comfortable bed i think i've ever had at disney. we were close to the pool and the bus stop. bit of a hike to el centro, but we made it work.

We requested the Ranchos but didn't get them :( I have stayed in Casitas twice and Cabanas once. Walking around the resort, Ranchos would still be my first pick. Our other rooms were closer to the main buildings and I might not pick Ranchos if we had young kids.

We stayed at the Casitas last year. It was about 10-15 minutes to the main pool, maybe 5 minutes to El Centro? It wasn't that big of a deal to walk!

We stayed at CSR a few years ago while I was pregnant and got a room in Ranchos 7B and loved it! Super close to the bus stop, right in front of the quiet pool, a very short walk to the main pool and about a 7ish minute walk to El Centro. We walked it at least twice a day and loved the calmness of the resort.
