We'll be at CSR the week of Aug. 20 and a CM at CRO told me the resort is totally full for that week - she cannot put in any new reservations. Now I'm wondering if I should even stay there with my family if its that full (maybe due to conventions). I picked CSR because of the reported good bus service and great pool. Anyone have any experience staying there when the resort was running at full capacity with alot of conventioneers? Thinking of doing POFQ now.

I just checked today on Expedia and was able to get CSR from 8/17 to 8/25. However, I wasn't able to get POFQ. Free dining starts on 8/26 so maybe after that date is the issue. The list that is ongoing here I don't reacall seeing a convention, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Yes, we were there last year when it was full. More people at conventions means lighter loads on busses and less people in the pool. You will love CSR!

Yup--I stayed there last year during a convention. There were a lot of people walking around and talking with their drinks at the front (an ongoing cocktail party) but the pool and busses were mostly empty. Strangely, the same could be said for the Pepper Market (maybe they brought in catered food).

I too was at CSR (late last August) when the resort was sold out. It was mostly conventioners and a large family reunion and I mean really large family. The pools and buses were pretty deserted. That said, this resort is so spread out, with plenty of pools that I can't imagine how it would ever feel crowded. It was weird to see people in business attire at WDW, kinda made me feel sorry for them as we headed to our fun!

And while I liked POFQ and the smaller set up is convenient, I have also been there when it was sold out. No comparison! Because there is only one pool and its much smaller, it felt crowded, very crowded. That is the one resort we will likely never return to, simply because the pool felt small and we missed the spread out nature of the other mods.

that "family reunion" is not actually a real "family" (as we know it) but the Tom Joyner Family Reunion is hosted by a radio personality and open to the public... this year it is being held at Gaylord Palms Resort...

As we were looking for bus stop 2, we ended up in the convention center. (Don't ask :rotfl: ) Anywhooo...as we passed the banquet rooms, we saw several of them being set up for dining.

Hey, the more conventions the better!! That means the busses and pools will be empty during the day! We stayed at CSR last year and will stay again this year. We had convention people staying next to us and they were so quiet!! They were probably already in conventions by the time we even got up!!

There is a convention at CSR over the Labor Day weekend. I forget the exact name of the group but it is a collection of motivational speakers that speak on the empowerment of families. Most attendees should be in the events during the day I would think.

Tom Joyner is not holding his convention at CSR this year. He moved it to an off site resort.

As far as conventions, that is the best time for the buses and pools to be empty is when the resort is full with conventions. They will all be busy with work and you'll find the resort to be empty. We were there over spring break/Easter last year and they told me I couldn't get a day added to my reservation but the resort seemed empty.

Yes I know ;) . The only way any family could be that large is every single person had at least ten kids. I must say, they may not all be related, but they all had one thing in common: they were so nice! I never saw so many happy, friendly people.

I've stayed at CSR when a large convention was there and I've stayed there attending a large convention. Other then some impact on the restaurants the bus service and pools don't get heavy use by convention users. I'd suggest checking the convention schedule when you check in, most post them. Then see when any major events or day off maybe and avoid that time.

Exactly...

Check out this page for some conventions.

I agree, being a convention resort helps keep the pools and buses less crowded. It's definitely a plus.
