My ds's meeting is tommorow afternoon to set up his IEP for next year.He has not meet any of his goals for math this year and his teacher just wants to keep things on his IEP just the way they are.My ds is 8(almost 9)he was moved into a third grade inclusion class this year.He has ADHD and is on meds. that really help him focus in class. He had a nuero. psych. eval that said he has non specified learning disablities. My ds writes most of his numbers backwards and also will read numbers backwards ex.17 as71.I feel that the school can do more to help but I dont know what I should even ask for.Does anyone have any ideas? He use to struggle with reading but with a full on approach by the school he is now doing great.I feel that if they do the same with math as they did with reading he would at least have meet one of the three math goals set for this year.I am just confused that the school does not see there is a problem and just wants to keep playing the wait and see game.We are so proud of ds he has come along way he got an A in science and social studies. What bothers me is the school offered a before school program for math and english to help kids prepare for the state test in May yet there is no extra help to teach my son how to add and subtract 2 digit numbers(those are 2 of his goals on his IEP)Does anyone have any advice also I would like them to give him some help over the summer.(last year they put him in a 12;1;1 class and they worked on math about 10-15 min out of a three hour day.
