Our last visit all the CS fries were horrible. Yucky. Nasty.

They seemed to have a funny taste and some kind of coating.

Are there any CS places that have better fries???

My kids love their french fries and these were a huge disappointment.

I'm not being sarcastic... but maybe this is a good opportunity to eat something other than fries. It's not like you can't get fries outside of WDW.

I think they went to the use of Non -trans fats..So all the fries will be the same.My only advice is you could try TS restaurants which is expensive just for french fries, or drive off disney property .

I get the apples slices.

As i get older I find I eat less and less fries even when I go eat fast food.

Also I sometimes have "issues" when traveling so I need the fiber. :goodvibes

They remind me of burger king fries..YUCK! But at places that have toppings bars I eat them with cheese sauce or get carrots or apples instead!

Have you tried the "chips" at Yorkshire...in Epcot? That is a CS. I thought those were great! I wonder if Columbia Harbor House's fries with their fish would be similar? I think I read they had fish and chips. Might be worth a try!

IMHO I actually thought they where terrible. :confused3

I think it may have been the fact that it was one of the first batches of the day and the oil was new.

It also didn't help that it was raining.

I've always considered the fries at WDW to be yucky. They never cook them enough for my taste and usually they are what I consider to be barely cooked. I like mine brown & crispy, more well done. They do have a different taste now than they use to. Most fast food french fries are routinely coated with something so that they get the golden coloring when they are fried. It is this coating that will give them a weird flavor.

It is TS but The Plaza has wonderful fries that are different from other WDW fries. Also I have not been since it changed but someone said the Golden Oak Outpost had decent fries ? When I last went I believe they were McDonald's but I know that had changed since Disney no longer has an agreement with McD's

We don't eat fried foods at our house, but on vacations we become connoisseurs of all things fried. My kids love the fries at the Plaza and look forward to that every trip, also the poutine at Le Cellier is a big hit.

Unfortunately, Disney has been cutting costs over the years. Someone discovered that all the restaurants were ordering their own supplies from different suppliers. So the bean counters decided to make everyone order from the same supplier, thus cutting costs by ordering in bigger bulk. Now you'll find that all CS locations will serve the same fries, same burgers, same rolls, etc. Which is great if you like them, but not so much if you don't. I know I've read quite a few complaints about the burger & hot dog buns here!

I bet it did save them $$$ though.

The buns aren't a cost issue but a "whole grain" issue so therefor healthier. (?)

Personally I never found anything wrong with the French Fries at any of the counter service locations I went to and the most recent time I had them was back in December 2009.

OP - did you know you don't have to get the fries at counter service places? If your kids are getting kids' meal, you can get apple slices or something else. If they are getting adult meals, just ask for the sandwich only. That will even save you money. I personally cannot eat an entire basket so will just get the burger and no fries. No big deal at all. If your kids are still hungry after, get them something else they will eat - pretzel, fruit, popcorn, nachos, egg roll, ice cream......

you can get the apple slices with any meal instead of the fries not just kids meals

Caseys Corner always had great fries in my opinion...they were different than the fries at most QSR places but I haven't been in a while so they might have changed now...

I don't like the CS fries either and for the most part I stopped bothering with them. That's huge since french fries are my favorite food.

I have a ds who is an extremely picky eater. French fries are one of the very few things at WDW that he will eat. He eats plenty of fruit each day and would like to have some french fries with his meals. Kids get tired of apple slices every day for a week, kwim?

CS fries are much like Burger King fries--nasty, nasty, nasty. I was just hoping to find a place that used a different fry.

Amy,

I would try The Plaza, as I said it is a TS but the prices are really not much more than CS. The fries are the thick cut steak fries and are delicious, they also are one of the few places you can get a grilled cheese. I also thought that CHH had different tasting fries but I could be wrong. Good luck I know it can be difficult when you have a "picky eater" Mine were picky when young but thankfully they did grow out of it, I think for most it is just a stage. Have a great trip.
