We are heading to Disney the first week of December and have the dining plan, 2 adults, 2 kids. Are the CS credits listed as adult and child credits? Or just lumped together? Would I theoretically be able to order 3 meals off the adult menu for the 4 of us and just use 3 CS credits, not distinguished between adult and child? I figure the kids can split a cheeseburger off the adult menu if there's nothing on the kid's menu they like (they are pretty picky), but I don't want to wind up short adult CS credits at the end of our vacation because we wound up using all the adult credits and none of the kids. This whole DDP stuff is starting to stress me out!

This isn't going to be helpful to you at all, but it just depends on the place and the CM you encounter at the time. Some "burger" joints don't have kid's meals with burgers  (don't get me started on how dumb that is) and the CM's will allow you to cheat and order from the adult menu.

Other CS places are really strict...it does state on the card how many adults/children are on the plan, and in *most* places they made you order from the appropriate menu.

You will probably not be able to order 3 adult meals with 2 A and 2 C cs credits. That being said, one person could order 2 adult meals in one line and the other could order 1 adult meal in another line. The credits are pooled. Iin my opinion I don't think you are doing anything wrong with trying to get something for your kids that they will like. I think the child's cs meals are limited and to be honest are not that great. Most of our CS meals we shared with our child, however, when we didn't share we order the meals separately so my child could get something she likes. You are going to get a lot of mix opinions on this, but do what you feel is right and works best for you.

This is one of the issues covered by the warning at the top of this forum:

Any questions regarding the use of the plan that are not answered specifically in the WDW Dining Brochure cannot be accurately answered on these boards and should be addressed to WDW Dining. Interpretation of the rules has led to a tremendous amount of debate on these boards. To avoid further conflict, we will close any threads that ask for interpretation of the rules and encourage the poster to contact WDW Dining.
The rules say that child meal entitlement cannot be used for adult meals.
