Crystal light and Brita Bottles ?

This may seem like a lame question, but I was wondering if you can use the crystal light or gatorade in the brita bottle or if you have to use the bottle to filter the water and then pour it into another bottle and add the drink mix?

The bottle has a filter built in the cap so any mix would either get filtered out or clog up the filter. It would be best to filter the water and then add the mix.
