Cruising the Dream on our 1st cruise ever!!! (5 Night Double Dip)

Breakfast looks so delish! Yummy!

I hope everything is OK with your contract!

Oooh I really want to make sure we get at least one sit down breakfast next month :goodvibes

Aaw Donald looks well cute! Love all the little details and your pics are making me want to go on a Disney cruise!

Hope you managed to figure out what Amile wanted.

The breakfast at Royal Palace looks soo yummy! popcorn::

I think you would love it! They're doing some Mediterranean cruises next summer, that way airfare wouldn't be so expensive. It was such a fabulous vacation!!!

The outcome with Amile is a good one, I'm trying to control myself from saying anything until I get to that point in the day

I really wish we had done a sit down breakfast on the Dream. If we ever do a Bahamian cruise again, we will not get off at Nassau and stay on the boat as well. Next time for sure!

Ooh that sounds interesting...may just have to look into them! Am glad you had such a fabulous vacation!!!! :cool1:

Haha good luck with trying to keep that information to yourself...am intrigued.

Alright wonderful people, thank you for your patience. My work schedule has changed drastically and had no time to do an update.

So after breakfast we headed for the room, but got lost. :worried: I thought we were going up the forward elevators but we actually went up the aft ones. So good thing is we discovered the Oceaneer Club and Lab. Bad thing is I totally forgot to take pictures. They do have open houses on the first day that anybody can go to. I had really wanted to do that but the ship tour took first place for that time slot so we'll be checking them out next year.

Deck 5 is a little tricky, things don't connect all the way since they have some offices in the middle for meetings so where we thought we just should be able to walk to our room there was a wall. And when we went to the other side didn't look right, we hadn't been down that hall yet. I had not interpreted the deck plans to have this obstruction so we commandeered the first CMs we saw. Well they happened to be dining CMs so had no idea how to get us where we needed to go. But they went above and beyond the call of duty. There were two, one left us to go find out how to get there, and came back and actually led us to our room. I was thinking he'd just tell us directions, but he physically made sure we found our stateroom. The other guy did leave but not until he knew we were in safe hands. I was so impressed.

I had a killer of a headache so took some Advil and laid down for about 20 minutes. I couldn't stand not being out doing something so took a shower and felt loads better. I called Amile again with no luck. While mom was taking a shower I started to hear a beeping that I thought was the phone but wasn't, and then the phone rang. An automated voice said our fire alarm had been activated and to call 911. Well what's 911 going to do for us in Nassau? I looked around for a fire and saw mom had left the shower door open. There actually was a paper on the desk that said don't leave the shower door open it will activate the fire alarm which we had read yesterday when we first went into our room. So then the phone rang again and it was the bridge! I explained the situation, could tell he was smiling on the other line and he said he'd turn off the alarm. Oh my, that was an adventure. Mom claims she forgot we read the paper the day before.

So feeling better we headed up to the pool deck with Wave Phone in hand in case Amile called again. While looking for a nice sunny spot we noticed the Aquaduck had only a 10 minute wait so of course had to try it. They have some cubbies where you can put your stuff which was so nice. It can get quite windy up on the stairs so you might want to wear a shirt. You can ride single if you're heavy enough, but we chose to ride together, I told mom the back rider gets wetter and she not so kindly said I could take the back. I got soaked! It was quite fun. Nothing over the top but a fun ride. Getting out at the bottom is a chore. Absolutely impossible to do gracefully so I just rolled myself out. They have a bin of clean towels close by so we grabbed a couple, got our stuff out of the cubbies and headed down to the Quiet Cove to relax on some loungers. I took this time to write in my journal and mom read a book. It started to get a little chilly and some omnious clouds started inching their way across the sky. I had prepurchased 1 day Rainforest Room passes when I bought the birthday package, so suggested to mom we could use those if it continued to get colder. Well it started to rain so we decided that would be a good idea.

Headed down to the room to get the passes where we saw our stateroom hostess Iryna who was cleaning the room. She was going to leave and come back but there was no need since we were leaving anyway and headed back up to Deck 11. They took our room cards in exchange for a waterproof watch like door opener that opens the Rainforest room. Lara from Ireland gave us a tour of the place, showed us the locker room and left us to enjoy.

Locker room photos first.

Well we could not have chosen a better time to go since the place was completely empty. Of course I had to take advantage of the situation and get pictures so here goes.

There are 4 water experience shower type things. I never could figure out what they were in anybody elses pictures so hopefully I can describe them ok. Each one had 3 different buttons, I should have gotten close ups sorry, where you could choose different types of showers. Things like 'Tropical Jungle', 'Atlantic Ocean', and 'Waterfall. So 4 different showers and each had 3 different buttons, and we had the place to ourselves so of course had to try them all. Some were very cold, some warm, each had the water coming down differently. We couldn't figure out why in the world some of them were so cold until we tried the saunas.

Continued in next post.

This one was our favorite. The heat was intense. After a few minutes it was difficult to breathe easily so we didn't stay in for long, and you needed the cold showers after that!

It was a really good thing we didn't stick with the Atlantis plan we originally had since it stayed rainy like this most of the afternoon.

I felt bad for these people having to look at our beautiful ship.

Mom finally came and found me since I was taking so long with the photos. I forgot to mention we were given wonderful robes when we first checked in.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012278.jpg

Like I said, the timing was perfect, we tried everything without any interruptions and then some more people came in. Then we found ourselves some tile loungers and I managed to catch up in my journaling. I'm glad I only got the 1 Day Pass since it was our first cruise but we'll definitely be getting passes for the whole time next cruise. Single day passes were $15 each and I think the pass for the whole time was $70. It costs more or less depending on how long your cruise is I'm pretty sure. Corinna I know you guys get the pass each time do you remember the prices?

We stayed around 4 hours and then headed out since I was getting hungry and we hadn't eaten since breakfast.

The rainforest room looks so cool! I'm going to have to get a length of stay for our cruise! That would be perfect for us!

Great update! Thank you so much for posting all of the pictures from the Rainforest room! I have read a bit about it but haven't seen it and your reviews are very helpful.

I think you and Fran would love it. It was such a relaxing place. You might be able to call and purchase the full cruise length pass otherwise you'll want to do it as soon as the spa opens on embarktion day, usually 1:00, since they only sell a limited amount so it doesn't get crowded.

Thank you :) You're most welcome! I couldn't believe how lucky we were getting the whole place to ourselves. I never would have taken all those photos if other people were there. You can also take a tour of the whole spa on embarktion day which includes all the treatment rooms as well as the Rainforest Room, but we couldn't squeeze it in.

woohoo, we are going to be booking the 3 nighter in May 2013 before our WDW trip! I think 3 nights would never be enough if we were just doing a cruise but with a 4yo in tow and a day before at the parks and a week after, I think we will be fine. It's on the Dream so I'm so excited to read through your report!!! Not going to use our DVC points for the cruise though. I know you haven't gotten to Castaway in your TR yet but would you say it is mostly a go to the beach n relax kind of place? I didn't see many excursions on the DCL site. Too funny that Nana was perfectly fine with my planning this before our trip without asking her first, hehe she doesn't have to cook, she doesn't care! :lmao:

I just wanted to say "hi". We are from Manchester, too (Ancoats) and are about to embark on our 8th Disney cruise.

This looks amazing. The Rainforest Room on the Magic and the Wonder cannot compete with this, but we still love it. I am pretty sure that we will go for the length of cruise pass again. $70 for 5 nights sounds about right. On our Mexican Riviera cruise in October we paid about $200 for a couple's pass and that also included the Exotic Rasoul which is normally $89. I am hoping they are doing a similar deal for the Hawaii cruise.

I can recommend this. One of my favourite things to do on a cruise is to hang out in the Rainforest Room with a good book.

You cannot pre-purchase the length of cruise passes, but in my experience they never sell out. They are usually really pushing this for the first couple of days. Of course, it may be different on the new ships.

Corinna

That rainforest room looks amazing! I had NO idea it was on the ship. What a great idea on a rainy day. I am learning so much from your TR. Keep it up!

I agree, just the cruise would be too short but in addition to a WDW it'll be very nice!

Castaway Cay, CC, has tons to do. There are a few different beaches. There is a family beach, a teen beach, adults only beach, and a beach for the Cabanas. We did parasailing which was amazing. I know a lot of people enjoy the sting ray excursion. There's a path you can walk or bicycle on. Volley ball court, some other games, a snorkel lagoon, two new water slides. You can make the day as activity filled or relaxed as you want. I'll recommend leaving your child with nana for a bit and go to the adult only beach, Serenity Bay. It is so wonderful!

Thank you for all the info, I knew you would know :) I think the couples pass was $90 on this one. I hope they have a good deal on the Hawaii cruise. You leave in two weeks! I forgot to mention the DVC guy Amile will be on there with you as one of the DVC representatives. He was quite excited.

It was the absolute perfect rainy day getaway. I definitely recommend getting a one day pass to see if you like it, but I'm sure you will so maybe just get the full length pass.

I'll try, thank you :). Lots more to come.

Thanks so much for your excellent review of the Rainforest Room

I found it difficult to picture it from other people's descriptions

Can you wear your flip flops in there?

I've pre-purchased a day pass but don't seem to be able to find a way of pre-purchasing a length of cruise pass

Now I've seen your pictures I want one!

Can you buy a length of cruise pass once you are on the ship?

Perhaps I can upgrade my day pass?
