Roll Call

Kirbo (Kirsten), Mr Kirbo, DD (10 at time of sailing), DD (10 at the time of sailing)
I second Las Caletas!
Darn it. I did that wrong.

We'll be early dining. We did early on three out of four cruises and it worked so much better for us. (We did late on the Med and that was not a great fit for us at all.)

We're from the PNW.

We're on the first deck. We were down there on the EBTA and the Med and it was perfect. We decided no elevators and had to use the stairs all the time. We managed to be on the boat for 21 days and didn't gain weight. Also, it was pretty darned quiet down there.

Have added you all.

:welcome: to the DIS Monique

If anyone is interested in organising the FE exchange please let me know.

:Welcome: to everyone since I last did that. Quickly growing group! I will have to do the request for Facebook although I prefer here.

Hello Alan!

Hello everyone! I am booked on this cruise, and very excited about it.

This will be my second canal crossing, my second Disney cruise (previous was last Dec. on the Wonder) and my 15th cruise overall. I will be sailing solo.

I did a similar itinerary in Oct. 2012 on Celebrity. I was solo on the cruise also and met some wonderful people onboard. One gentleman on my trivia team was on his 6th canal crossing. I asked whether Eastbound or Westbound was better. He replied that Westbound was better because it was 3 hours longer because of changing time zones!

For the person who said they could not find The Path Between the Seas on Kindle, I have it on mine, so you might want to check again. If you get through the first half of the book, it gets much more interesting as it focuses more on the people and physical difficulties building the canal and less on the politics. I enjoyed it.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you here and on Facebook as the time goes by.

Lesa

Lesa is correct about the book - the second half moves along better but I did the entire thing. And I would not let myself read anything else until I was done and it still took me quite a long time. I wish I could watch the documentary that was posted but it isn't showing in Michigan either.

Roll Call
Kathleen and Ron from Santa Rosa,Ca area Deck 7 mid ship can't remember room # I have second seating now but am debating about changing it. We have so many sea days this time it wouldn't be a big deal and late dining is so late I feel like I was missing things.
Because we do not have children with us we have always had the late but I am not sure it really makes a difference.

Thanks Kathleen for setting up the FB page. We do early dining and often times change it up a bit and eat upstairs in BB when we feel like a less crowded dining room.

I'm interested in FE.

Hi, I think it's great that there are so many diffeent nationalities involved :thumbsup2, usually we are the only non Americans in the group.

I've only been to Amsterdam but I absolutely loved the relaxed atmosphere there.

Wow, don't check here for a couple of days and the thread explodes! Welcome to everyone who has recently signed on. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next year. I'm also guilty of already looking at excursions and hotel rooms and I still have a cruise in September! Anyway I've sent a request to the Facebook page and I may be interested in a FE.

Good morning everyone! :dance3:

Just looked at the roll call on the first post and saw a ? by something I wrote. Wilma-Bride, PNW does indeed stand for Pacific Northwest. Sorry about that. I wasn't even thinking when I wrote it.

:goodvibes

Hi'. I am holding this cruise today and will pay deposit with in the hold time

But I do have a few questions if Ny one can help me. So I make the best choices for a room.

This will be our 8th maybe 9th. Jeeze need to go back and count. Lol DCL cruise

I can't see doing an inside for 2 weeks.

I was thinking a port hole would be ok. But we could also do a white wall verandah. But I have never had a white wall. Am I going to have to stand up to see out if I am on the verandah if so, maybe the port hole is still best??

Also do most people stay in their room on the canal day for the sights????? Or does everyone want to be on deck?
Is there a significant difference to be out on deck or in your room for this day"

Really looking forward to so many days at sea.

And just a thought......I think it kind of sucks that the next cruise after this is just a 2 day. We might have done a back to back if it was up the coast a bit.

Well, I held the port hole. Will wait til hubby gets home to see if he agrees. We will be outside enough, I am worried about the white wall and even though it is only $400 more for the regular verandah I am trying to stick to a budget. And don't know where the wiggle room will be yet.

For me, a porthole would be enough, as I didn't spend much time on our Verandah during our last cruises. It was always either to windy and cool our too much sun.
My husband doesn't want to cruise without one so we compromised on a navigators verandah as I figured it would be more protection against wind and sun. And at least we can have coffee when our daughter is still asleep.
I'm pretty sure that you have to stand up in order to see the ocean.
