Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

We will be joining you on this cruise - we're so excited! We've had to postpone TWO PC cruise this year due to health issues:crazy2: But we FINALLY get to go next year:):):) and WON'T have to cancel:):):)

I recognise three DIS names from the 2013 WBPC, hello:wave2: This will be our fifth DCL voyage and our 2nd WBPC. We've never been on any other ship and love the Wonder:goodvibes

We are travelling from MA with our two daughters, who will be 10 & 11 for this trip. This will be our first trip inside cabin, but we are thankful for a secret porthole:upsidedow on the visitor's centre side of the ship!

I'll have to re-read the thread to catch up on the group.
:wave2: Hello again! I suspect we'll have more than a few of the 2013 crowd on board. The Facebook group is still up and running and there's a discussion about 2015!

Does anyone know if the Wonder will be re-imagined before our cruise?

As was mentioned, she won't fit through the locks if they do the entire re-imagining. She just went in for a quick dry dock within the last few months, IIRC, so barring any repair needs, I'd say she pretty much is what she'll be!

Now...my apologies, I was distracted with the FE stuff and forgot to post any roll call info...so here's that:

Jen & Chris
Stateroom 7125

from New Jersey :beach:

A bit about us: We both work in emergency services - he's a 911 dispatcher, I'm an EMT, and we both volunteer as firefighters :firefight so we stay VERY busy. We work hard and play hard, so this will be our 9th DCL cruise (unless there's a lottery windfall!) and our 2nd time through the canal on the Wonder (the first was in May 2013). She's our favorite ship. :cheer2:

DH is NOT a planner, so I LOVE talking to others about upcoming trips. I think if I told him we were leaving the night before, he'd be happier. For me, the planning is part of the fun. Luckily, a couple years ago I roped my mother into coming with us for a MR on the Wonder, and now she's hooked too. So we plan trips together whenever possible and we two planners just go crazy with the cruise talk :yay: and leave our respective partners shaking their heads. :confused3

I'm really looking forward to sailing with everyone, and from the way the FE is growing already (389 days out!:hourglass) I just know we're going to have a fantastic time!!:dance3:

I guess I had better finish introducing myself and my mom so the roll call can reflect all the information! I'm Mary and I live in Baltimore, MD, my mom Joan, who lives in Annapolis, will be joining me on this cruise for a bit of mother/daughter bonding. I'm leaving my DH at home and my mom is leaving my dad at home! This will be my 8th Disney cruise and my mom's second. My mother was born in the Coco Solo Canal Zone of Panama many moons ago and she has always wanted to do this cruise so before health issues become a problem we are doing this cruise. We are in 7066 and are doing main dining. Our plan is to fly to FLL the day before and stay somewhere near the Port the night before. I'm not sure what we are doing post cruise. We may fly directly home from San Diego if the O's are at home or tack on a few days at Disneyland is they are on the road (I work for them part time). I'm currently in planning overdrive (I almost need an intervention!) until Disney releases the excursions for the Southern Caribbean cruises this fall! Have a great night everyone!

Good gracious! This is a huge group already! That escalated quickly! :upsidedow:thumbsup2

We were supposed to do the WBPC this year but had to push it off due to hubby's project schedule/overrun. He just couldn't get away for 2+ weeks. So we're taking our first trip to DL at the end of this month instead. We booked on the 2015 WBPC first thing in the morning on the first day it opened for gold & platinum. Moved a couple OBBs we've been sitting on. Booked 2 connecting 04A's & feel pretty good about the price we got.

Currently I've completed 7 sailings. Hubby 6. Our sons both are at 4. In September I'll be sailing with friends sans the family so at minimum this sailing will be #9 for me. Hubby & I haven't set any plans for our anniversary in the fall, tho, so it's entirely possible for that number to be higher. princess: Let's see, I've sailed the Dream 3x, Fantasy 2x, & Magic 2x. The Wonder will be a first for all of us! Well, unless DH & I pull the trigger on 1 or 2 of the Wonder double dips at the end of September. :rolleyes1

My inlaws will be sailing with us, hence the connecting staterooms. They've sailed both RCI's Oasis class ships in the past but this will be their 1st Disney voyage. I soooooo hope they like it!

We homeschool. In fact, my oldest son's graduation wish is to receive his diploma onboard a Disney ship. This is his graduation cruise, actually. I'm starting to gather my thoughts on how, where, and when to do whatever we're going to for the actual graduation. We're fairly unceremonious type people. My son isn't one to have a lot of spotlight or attention lavished upon him. That said, I still want to mark this life moment in a way that's special. So far I know I want to prepare something special to say to him & offer the opportunity to my husband & younger son. I will likely be the one to present his diploma since I'm pretty much the school organizer/administrator/teacher. I need to work out the details like place & time, etc. For those who've been on the Wonder, any suggestions??? I'm totally open to ideas from any & all! :goodvibes

I'll talk to my MiL to see if they might want to jump in with the FE. I'm on the fence. Maybe. We'll see.

Super excited! Hope my teenagers will find respective peers to enjoy & bond with.

Enough of my yammering!

Stateroom #8070 - me/Kelly, DH/Tracey, DS19/Chandler, & DS17/Brian
Stateroom #8068 - DFiL/Allan & DMiL/Gwen

We both live near Houston, TX although neither of us are "from" here.

We both currently have 1st seating for dining but that will most likely change. We always go with 2nd seating. :wave2:

Just realized we will be cruising on Mother's Day. Does Disney do anything on Mother's Day? Doesn't matter either way! I'll have to come up with something special for my mom.

Welcome to the group. So glad you finally managed to book a cruise that you won't have to cancel :goodvibes

We currently have this cruise booked. We won't know if dh can get off work until December; luckily we will know before PIF. I, too, am probably way too excited! :cheer2:This will be our second Disney Cruise.
It will be myself (Becky), dh, ds (8 on cruise) and ds (turns 7 on May 2nd). Glad to see other kids on board. Right now we are in cat 10A, deck 5.

Welcome to you and your family. I hope your DH manages to get the time off work :goodvibes

Wow, sounds like you have very hectic jobs. You must be glad of the rest on the cruise. My DH is not a planner either. He always jokes when friends ask about our holidays that he "just turns up" :rotfl:

We are hoping to tack on a couple of days at Disneyland too, since we have to fly home from LA anyway. What are the O's?

Welcome aboard. We have gone with 2nd seating after doing main on our last cruise and not enjoying it, due to feeling too rushed. I know you have more time on the Panama Canal cruise, due to less ports and more sea days but we still like the idea of the unhurried second seating :)

Just realized we will be cruising on Mother's Day. Does Disney do anything on Mother's Day? Doesn't matter either way! I'll have to come up with something special for my mom.

I hadn't realised it will be US Mothers' Day when we sail. Mothers' Day in the UK is at the end of March so looks like I will get two next year then :thumbsup2

The O's are Baltimore's Major League Baseball team the Orioles. I am a baseball nut and huge Dodgers fan. Baseball to me is life the rest is details.

Interesting. I thought Mother's Day is on the same date throughout Europe, but according to Wikipedia this is definitely not the case.

Ours is on the same date as in the US: second subday in May. So, I finally get to celebrate something on board, what a great opportunity for my family to buy very nice presents :thumbsup2.

Thank you for clearing that up - and apologies for my ignorance

How strange, I would have thought Europeans would all celebrate Mothers' day on the same date. I agree, I think you should get extra special presents - at least you will be able to have breakfast in bed.

Actually, although I haven't actually worked out where in the cruise it will fall, if we are at sea that day, it would be a good day to have a Palo brunch - maybe they will do a special Mothers' Day brunch :scratchin

In theory, you're right, Palo brunch would be great, but, in fact, my daughter would never forgive me if I didn't spend Mother's day with her. Organising celebrations is her thing ;).

Well, I have just checked and the 11th does, indeed, fall on a sea day. Since my children won't be with me, I might try for Palo brunch that day myself :)

Unless, of course, your daughter wants an adopted Mum for the day ;)

Ha, she will have her hands full with worshipping me and my mom ;).

We will hopefully have Palo brunch and dinner on this cruise, I finally want to know if the soufflé is really that good.

We were on the Magic for Mother's Day in 2012. I think it was the last day of the cruise, actually. I recall seeing a display of sorts going into Parrot Cay for dinner but don't remember anything all that special in the way of offerings, meals, etc. It was another day in paradise. We may get some special things offered this time, tho, considering its a long voyage and on a sea day.

Hi all,

Really excited about this cruise which I booked last month,, it's two of us, Maria and DH Phil on deck 7 from the UK. 2nd Sitting.

Thanks.

Hi Kirbo! We booked this one as well! And agree, if Hawaii comes out and is roundtrip we may jump as well. Just excited to be planning again!

That's my plan but we will probably keep this cruise and jump ship on the 11 night Norway/Iceland. I booked that as a 40th birthday present for myself for the big birthday next year but as time goes on I just don't like that cruise.

We booked last week. It will be my mom, hubby and I and our 4 kids who will be (then) 7boy, 6girl, 4boy and very nearly 3girl. So close to being three that we are going to beg for her to be allowed in the club (assuming she's done with the whole potty training business).

This is our second Panama cruise. We are super excited about it. We did it the other way in December 2012 and it was amazing. There were hardly any kids and it was just so relaxing to hang out and get in the groove of being on the ship.

:welcome: to everyone who has joined us!

And how cool that it'll be Mother's Day while aboard. Since we'll have our kids with us, you guys can fight over our Palo space, we'll need to be with our girls for the day.

Hooray! :cool1: I wonder if anyone else from our EBTA will join us. And it's very neat that you're going to meet up with them in your area when they dock there. I look forward to catching up with you pixiedust:

Hello! My family just booked this cruise - me (Erin), 38, and my sons Elliott, 9, and Oliver, 6. This will be the first time I travel alone with the kids beyond a few days at Disneyland here and there. I'm nervous about filling up so much alone time, but I imagine it will be nice! We are all completely excited about every aspect of the trip. The next year is going to feel so slow!

This is our second Disney Cruise (did the Mexican Riviera in March, 2012), and the kids have been begging to go back ever since. We were originally going to do the 3-night out of San Diego but then decided to upgrade to this one. We live in Coronado, CA (across the bay from the cruise ship terminal), so this itinerary is perfect for us. Knowing we have a cruise booked will make it a lot easier next month when the Wonder is in port and I hear the horn blowing as they sail away!

Oh! And we have the first seating for dinner, but won't know our room number for a while, as we booked GTY. We will definitely want to participate in a FE! It was one of the highlights of our last cruise for the kids... and just a couple of weeks ago I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have one in my future when I saw a bunch of cute little Disney things! Yay!

Hi everyone,

My name is Karilynn (Malia78) and I'm sailing with my mom (Joan) and possibly a third roommate. This will be my 5th cruise and the one that makes me Gold.:cool1:

In room 2126.
