Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

Hello all! DH and I will be joining you all on this adventure. This will be our 9th cruise and second WBPC on DCL. We will most likely be joined by my mother and are working on convincing another family too...We LOVED this cruise in 2013 and can't wait to do it again!

We'll definitely be in for the FE, and I've organized several before. I can coordinate this, if no one else has offered yet (I didn't see anyone volunteer, but I may have missed it somewhere).

I'll add in our info for the roll call and get the FE ball rolling one I'm back at my laptop. The app is rather unwieldy, but I just couldn't wait to say hello to the group! I'll also be getting on the Facebook group soon. Can't wait to sail with everyone! :-)

Welcome to the group!!! I can't wait to join FE! I haven't done it yet!

Izzidee - we did an inside on the PC back in 2011 and are doing an inside this time as well (sideways cabin on deck 6), plus going from Miami to Vancouver. If I had done a verandah, which we typically do not spend that much time on, I would have had to fly home after the PC cruise I would guess. We have done both inside as well as verandah's and I am OK with both, just depends on other plans in the works.

I've been debating this cruise so I scanned these posts. Someone was debating an inside room on such a long cruise. We did the EBTA for 14 days last year in a 10c. We loved it. It helps force you outside and let's you sleep if it's light out. With 6 time zone shifts, we were sleeping in after a while. :)

This. But we added the first Med onto it, so 21 days in a 10C. We found that we LOVE the inside rooms. (Our first cruise was in a 5B verandah, second was in a 10A SPH, the third and fourth were in the 10C.)

We found that if we want to cruise we need to stick to a budget. And being in an inside room is really easy for us. Lots of time spent out and about :thumbsup2

Hello all! We've booked this cruise and hope to reshop for a OBB discount and credit in July when we're on cruise #5 for the family and #6 for me.

I've already asked the oldest (my niece) to have a conversation with her teachers about missing so much school at one time to see what they think. We'll be celebrating her 17th birthday on-board. She'll be finishing her junior year. She wants to do a European cruise or transatlantic, but I told her we couldn't miss the last two weeks of school, so she was good with this one too. Maybe we'll look at a European cruise for the summer after HS and before college.

My DD will be 7 and finishing 2nd grade next year. They go to a small private school that's usually pretty flexible with us, so hopefully they see this as a learning experience too. We'll also have my mom (aka G'ma) with us. She lives and travels with us everywhere. She'll probably find the board and facebook soon.

We'll have two cabins and will probably both participate in the FE.
racingfandj - DH, Me (Jill), DD (6); second dining, 6633, Northwest Arkansas
antlawn - Grandma, Niece (16), second dining, 6635, Northwest Arkansas

Just booked this cruise.

We Almost always do Porthole which is what we got this time too.

I actually considered an inside, but I am afraid I would sleep All day.

I Wonder what the cost was on opening day. But then again maybe I don't want to know. This trip has been dream of mine for awhile now.

Rochelle and Bill from snowy Minnesota. Our DD will turn 13 2 weeks after the cruise and DS will be 9. We have a verandah on 6, first dining. Can't wait, only 390 days to go !!!

Well, I have been to both Puerto Vallarta and Cabo twice before, and Cartagena once. Only did one excursion in PV/Cabo each and just walked around Cartagena - which, BTW, I do NOT recommend. There is NOTHING within walking distance worth seeing that we could find, it's insanely hot and humid, and the port is in a pure industrial zone. Cozumel I've never been to, but we will have been there by the time we take this cruise - we're stopping there in February!:cool1:

I Wonder what the cost was on opening day.

Believe it or not, it hasn't gone up noticeably. Mom and I have been checking daily - it took us a few days to convince our respective menfolk that this was a good idea. :flower3: We only just last week or so booked our February cruise and they were not thrilled about the expenses coming so close together. They were more for one or the other...bah! Go big or go home!!!

Well, I'll be happy to coordinate the FE. If it's anything like the one last year, it will be a GREAT time. I like to keep things as free of restrictions as possible, so please plan your gifts according to what you can manage - if that's one gift per person, one per room, or one per family. Deliver your gifts whenever is convenient for YOU, everyone has different tastes and different ideas of activities and events. I have seen exchanges get bogged down by having set days and even times to deliver gifts - that's not a vacation! ;) We're all grownups, even if we are kids at heart, so I think we can handle it. It's never turned out badly yet.

Going off past TRs as well as my own experience, this is a fairly "small" cruise (the ship is pretty hard to fill, as it's a repositioning, longer than a week, and the kids are still in school) but has a lot of repeat cruisers - which means a lot of DISers. So the FE can get pretty large. I am thinking splitting the list into groups of around 12, just so that it doesn't get overwhelming. (The 2013 FE was somewhere around 50 rooms, divided into 6 groups, IIRC - that's a LOT to pack for!) If anyone wants to participate in more than 1 group, that's fine - but I'd rather leave it up to you.

In addition, as I learned with my very first FE, the boards only allow me to send a PM to a few people at a time, which makes sending out a FE list a nightmare. I quickly decided that email is best when sending out the list, as I can email everyone at once. So that's the reason for requesting emails.

With the possibility of this being a large FE, and knowing that a 2 week cruise is difficult enough to plan for, I'd like to set the cutoff date a little earlier than my normal - instead of making it 1 month out, I'd like to have everyone's info by 1 1/2 months out. This will allow everyone enough time to coordinate/order/receive/pack/ship gifts before we leave. Therefore, THE SIGNUP DEADLINE FOR FE WILL BE MARCH 15, 2015.
If you are interested in participating in FE for the WBPC May 1, 2015, please send me a PM or email ravensilverlight@yahoo.com and include the following information:
DIS name (or "traveling with" if your party is more than one stateroom)
Stateroom # (if known, or TBA if not assigned yet)
First names of adults
First names and ages of children (notes on NAMES - please specify male/female, I never like to assume!)
Special notes (celebrations, allergies, requests like "no candy" or "no alcohol")
Email address (this will ONLY be used by me to send the list and will not be published to the rest of the group)
How many groups you'd like to participate in (1 group= appx. 12 rooms)

I will respond to each email and PM, so if you send me one and I don't answer in a day or two, don't hesitate to send another to make sure I got yours. I have access to my emails even when traveling, so there's no reason for me not to answer you.

I know we'll make this a great trip!!!

Thanks for offering to organise the FE exchange. I have added the details to the first post :)

Welcome to all of the new cruisers! :welcome:

raven: Thanks so much for handling this for us! :sunny:

We will be joining you on this cruise - we're so excited! We've had to postpone TWO PC cruise this year due to health issues:crazy2: But we FINALLY get to go next year:):):) and WON'T have to cancel:):):)

I recognise three DIS names from the 2013 WBPC, hello:wave2: This will be our fifth DCL voyage and our 2nd WBPC. We've never been on any other ship and love the Wonder:goodvibes

We are travelling from MA with our two daughters, who will be 10 & 11 for this trip. This will be our first trip inside cabin, but we are thankful for a secret porthole:upsidedow on the visitor's centre side of the ship!

I'll have to re-read the thread to catch up on the group.

We currently have this cruise booked. We won't know if dh can get off work until December; luckily we will know before PIF. I, too, am probably way too excited! :cheer2:This will be our second Disney Cruise.
It will be myself (Becky), dh, ds (8 on cruise) and ds (turns 7 on May 2nd). Glad to see other kids on board. Right now we are in cat 10A, deck 5.

Does anyone know if the Wonder will be re-imagined before our cruise?

They wont dry docked it like the magic before this cruise. It wont fit the canal if they do. That is the reason why the Wonder is the only one that can go through the canal.
