Cruises out of NOLA

Hello all! I have a quick question - why is the cruise season out of NOLA so short? Due to hurricanes? I was trying to pick one and none of them will work with school / work schedules...

Disney only has five ships, so they don't stay too long in any one place unless it's special (e.g. Alaska) or "permanent" (e.g. Port Canaveral). NYC, Galveston, NOLA, San Juan, and San Diego all have short seasons.
