I have spent many hours making cruise magnets for our next trip. My son loves decorating the door and swpping out our stateroom mickey heads daily. I am going to attempt to upgrade to concierge at the port. Do the magnets stick to the concierge stateroom doors? The doors look wood-like.

As far as I'm aware the magnets don't stick to concierge except inside.
I have heard poster getting the small suction cups. I know there is some kind of stick velcro but I'm not sure, check the FE threads and ask on there for information.

Here is a thread discussing what to use.

the concierge doors are not magnetic. We put the magnets we got from our FE swap, etc on the connecting door inside our room.

DCL specifically states that only magnets be used on doors. Since concierge doors are not magnetic on the Dream/FAntasy those doors can't be decorated.

You might think about bringing something to hang from your fish to hang the magnets from.

This is not accurate. The doors are magnetic. However, they have a very thick coat of stain to make them look like wood. I sailed on the February 2012 Dream in the Roy Suite. We bought HEAVY DUTY magnets. We made swords and mickey/minni mouse heads out of wood. We placed several of the heavy duty magnets on the back. Before placing on the doors we put a thin sheet of packing tissue between the magnet and the door so we wouldn't scratch the door. It worked well in our room. But the concierge near the outside door to the deck didn't work. Everytime someone opened the door the magnets blew off the door.

Thanks for clarifying what type of magnets to use.

Please be courteous to the ship and make sure you have some sort of buffer between the magmets and the door. If there is a lot of wind it will start do slide down the door and will most likely scratch the door. With the tissue in-between at least it just falls off and doesn't cause any damage to the door.

None of the DCL staff had any issues with post it type paper. It leaves no residue and does not mar the finish of the door.

None of the staff is going to say anything to you. They don't want to place any negative aura on your cruise. BUT, DCL can charge you for any damages done by not using the specified attachment for decorations, even if the room host (or others) doesn't say anything.

:cutie:

I see you Quoted my Post. I'm sorry I wasn't aware of any bother with Decorating their Doors in Concierge, that's why I posted the Thread so she could read for herself. As long as its the correct Magnets though.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I've looked through the pics and think they look kinda tacky. I could see why they wouldn't want them on concierge doors. I can understand maybe 1 or 2 to help you find your room. Beyond that, I think they just look gaudy.

But to each their own. It certainly wouldn't effect my vacation. I'm just surprised they allow it at all. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that. (Though I will admit to liking the Mickey ears on the round part.)

I'm with you. We do ours the same every time. One for each of our names (there are 3 of us & we reuse them on each cruise), and one 8x10 with a cruise specific design. That's enough for us!! Even that would look gaudy in Concierge.

No flames from me! I personally find them a "buzz kill"...but as you said, to each his/her own. After all, they don't impact the enjoyment of my vacation... :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 You are by no means alone in your opinions.

We were in Room 1100 on the dream and my magnets did not stick,so we had to use them on the adjoining door in our room.

The reason I asked the question was because for my FE gift I am making the state room mouse ears for each family and wondered if I needed to have different gifts for my concierge buddies.

My son and I are going to thoroughly enjoy decorating our door. I have even bought flashing LED lights.:cool1: We will also change our magnets daily too.

If you enjoy decorating your door please post a response!!!

We've never decorated our doors in the past, but we are this time! :hyper: Our biggest problem right now is figuring out WHICH magnets to make as we have more magnet ideas than doors right now! :faint:
