DCL allows you to decorate your doors. They require that any decorations be affixed with magnets. The problem is concierge doors on the Dream & Fantasy have a thin wood laminate coating that makes "regular" refrigerater-type magnets impossible to use. You can use stronger magnets to decorate your door, if you wish. Some people feel this is "tacky". Personally, I like it.

Personally, I like the magnets on the doors. And I will continue to decorate mine.

We do too!! We enjoy doing it and enjoy stopping to look at anyone else's that is decorated! If you think it's tacky, maybe you should get some blinders for walking the halls. ;-)

I think it depends. Like anything some people go rather overboard with it and that strikes me as a bit much, but I think they're kind of fun. And what anyone does to their door isn't going to affect my holiday!

This is not accurate. The doors are magnetic. However, they have a very thick coat of stain to make them look like wood. I sailed on the February 2012 Dream in the Roy Suite. We bought HEAVY DUTY magnets. We made swords and mickey/minni mouse heads out of wood. We placed several of the heavy duty magnets on the back. Before placing on the doors we put a thin sheet of packing tissue between the magnet and the door so we wouldn't scratch the door. It worked well in our room. But the concierge near the outside door to the deck didn't work. Everytime someone opened the door the magnets blew off the door.

Where did you get heavy duty magnets? How strong?

We bought ours at the hardware store. They were about a half inch thick. I think we had to use such strong ones because we made our decorations out of wood. I have some metal doors in my house that have a "wood" stain on them so I was able to test mine out before we left.

We had a simple Pirate Sword with our Family Name and Disney Dream 2012 painted on, and then a Mickey/Minnie head with each person in our family name painted on.

The reason I asked the question was because for my FE gift I am making the state room mouse ears for each family and wondered if I needed to have different gifts for my concierge buddies.

My son and I are going to thoroughly enjoy decorating our door. I have even bought flashing LED lights. We will also change our magnets daily too.

Those magnets might actually work since they'll be sitting on top of the room number. I noticed that the top of the door's in concierge held the magnets better.
