I suspect we have some spa experts here.
We have never been to the spa on a Disney ship, but that doesn't mean I can't carp about them.
Am I the only one that has been passively thrust into a presentation by spa staff in the Cove Cafe? Am I imagining that it's staff from the spa who do presentations there?
Our last cruise, a Mexican Rivera cruise this past April on the Wonder, we were sitting as happy as clams in the upstairs part of the Cove Cafe. Is it called the Overlook now?
Someone came in and set up a whiteboard in the area we were in, and then folks gathered and settled in.
The presenter commenced talking about food languishing in one's colon. I think they then launched themselves into a perky monologue about colonics. Our pleasant tranquil time was spoiled and we high-tailed it out of there.
Did I hallucinate this? Does the spa staff give lectures about enemas, and if they do, why do it in the cafe?
As we didn't stay. It was enough to put us off our lattes. Perhaps it was not going to be a chat about that, and instead about something else. I guess I'll never know. Pity, because it just might have been about no-touch colonics.
Now that I'm on the subject, there was something very odd about that cruise.
A few days later we were in the upstairs of the Cove again, and a group of guests settled in. They were talking very loudly. I think it was because they were very pleased with themselves and their trendy lifestyles, because they were "sharing" so much with the rest of the cafe.
It was two couples and I think they had met on the cruise, because they talked about things one typically knows about friends. Their new cars, the tennis court they had put in and things like that.
I have no idea where they were from, but thought they were not from the midwest where we talk about snowblowers, and who's politicians have landed are going to jail.
The odd thing is that their conversation turned to what else but colonics. I mean they were really i not the topic. Quite a bit of gusto about it.
We left the Cove Cafe as they were just too loud and intrusive and we weren't interested in their colonic recipes.
We chatted about it and found ourselves wondering if there was something wrong with us. Frankly it was a topic that in over 24 years had not come up in conversation with any of our friends, let alone chat about it with complete strangers.
This happened toward the end of our cruise. It was strange from the start and just became odder and odder as the days went by.
So questions:
1. Does the spa staff give presentations like that?
2. Are we pathetic midwesterners who are just not fashion forward enough?
.
