The weekend of and week following Presidents Day every February are very high crowds in the park. But what about on a cruise? Isn't a soldout cruise a soldout cruise? If the ship is full its full, it can't be fuller than soldout. Right? Or does a popular week for travel mean more crowded and will bigger crowds make the experience less enjoyable?

Thanks in advance!

The ship always sails full, or as close to full as DCL can get it. Thus, the absolute numbers on President's week is no different than normal. However, the mix of the guests is significantly different. There will be A LOT more tweens and teens, since many private schools have this who week off. On one of our cruises, the CM in the teen group told us she had 5 pages of names; the week before she'd had 2/3 of a page.

The cruise is more expensive than the week before..families who can be more flexible--typically those with younger kids--will opt for the less costly week.

The only way this really affects you is that the more "daring" or "physical" excursions tend to fill up more quickly...and more tweens can equate with more hall noise/elevator tie ups. The CMs in the tween program work really hard to head this off, but it only takes a couple bad apples.....

We cruised a 4 night that week in 2010--had KSF which surprised me, but the economy was still pretty down in 2009 so I think there may have been more availability than is typical. The ship was full, and due to the special offer there were quite a lot of little kids but it didn't seem bad. We are doing the 7 night Western this year during Presidents week and have a pretty good age range for the kids in our meet thread.

Like kcashner said, the ship is usually pretty full, so really the time of year has more to do with cost than anything else :)

President's Week sometimes falls with Mardi Gras and that also contributes to the kids being out of school.
