Hi all. Been lurking for a long time, enjoying all your posts. But I have some bad news. My son and I are having to leave Cruisetoberfest (and we haven't even gotten there:( ). I have met with his school, checking out the schedule for next year and I just can't take him out that week. On top of the testing he would miss, they would want me to take all his books and work with us (independent study) and teaching is not what I plan to do on my cruise! The days of a journal and report to the class are over.

But we were able to reschedule our cruise...we are going the week of Thanksgiving. He will only miss two days of school and they don't schedule anything critical that week anyway,as many kids are gone. Due to the higher cost, I gave up my verandah but did get a secret porthole room. That, and the fact that I can still use my frequent flyer tickets, are some consolation. But I am still sad that I don't get to cruise with all of you (plus the other 13 in my group, who are still going on 10/11). I am going to try to get some of them to this thread before they leave but I think it's still too early for them.

On to other topics...Mike, even though I live in the Raider Nation, I will be rooting for the Titans this weekend. And even though the Eagles beat my 49ers last week, I am rooting for them too.

Sorry to tell you but our temps are in the 70s right now. Very unusual for January, it is usually cold and rainy but I'm not complaining. It's been the mildest winter I can remember here....great for those gas bills.

Nancy, thanks for the decluttering website. That's on my list of new years resolutions and I'm sloooowly getting started. If I got a bulldozer, it might be easier.:D

Rosemary, I will meet up with you on the Survivor Amazon thread on the CB. I have some first hand gossip on another TV reality show that I can't divulge just yet but will let you know as soon as I can.

And Eric, thanks for all the Lists. I hate that I won't get to be on the next edition. But I am going to go on Cruisetoberfest 2005 even if my son has to drop out of school (or maybe I'll just find a way to go without him).

Please try to keep the ship in one piece so that I can go on my cruise in November. And I expect lots and lots of trip reports when you all get back. Take Care

Deb

(Now I've got to figure out how to change this stupid counter).

Deb so sorry that you and your son can not be on this cruise with us. Glad that you were able to reschedule and are going thanksgiving. Happy turkey day to you both. Just don't get sick as you will be in the middle of the Norwalk virus season.

17.5 cm of snow in Nashville officially. The main roads are clear just the side streets in the subdivisions are still snow covered, or worse where there has been traffic it is now packed down to solid ice.

Sure could use some time in the Caribbean right about now. I was thinking( a very dangerous thing) that we all should have some contingency plans as far as excursions in case we get diverted again like we did on the 09/28 cruise ears cruise to san juan.

Mike

Mike ... WE can always have ARCA shoosh some stingrays in when he snorkels at Castaway Cay Serenity Bay! Remember last year ... too funny.

Kathy with @ K --- Hope your voice is better.

Dan ... How did you make out on the half marathon? Hope you got home safe and sound.

Deb --- BooHoo, such a shame you can't join us. Don't worry, I'm sure you will hear all about us after we cruise. They may still be talking about us on the ship when you get on at Thanksgiving.

Back to work ......

Cathy with @ C

Dave and Ellen - I thought I was going to be too late to wish you guys a great trip but I see you are not cruising until NEXT Saturday! Is Lindsey going to miss any college? Richie starts back on the 27th. Well, I do wish you a bon voyage and a wonderful trip (did I just repeat myself in two languages?).

Deb - So sorry that you will not be cruising next October with us and the rest of your family/friends. But, at least you won't have to wait too long for the Thanksgiving cruise following Cruisetoberfest. I will catch you on the Survivor:Amazon thread when it gets started but you don't have to leave this thread just because you switched cruise dates.

I had other things I wanted to write but I've forgotten it all. The dining room furniture just arrived and it looks beautiful. Of course, they didn't place the table in the right spot so I have to wait for Rich and Richie to come home to move it. I will take a picture and post it soon.

Well, I gotta go fill my new china closet...

Have a great weekend. Not sure if I will be in CruiseChat tonight but I am hoping to be there, probably late as always.

OK we are home!

Yes I did finish the half marathon, 3 hours and 10 minutes! We had 3 1/2 hours to finish so we did finish ahead of that!

Had a great time in florida, chilly there!

So what did I miss? Tulirose knows that I am too lazy to go back and read old posts!

Dan

Hi Dan,

welcome back. Congratulations on finishing the Halfmarathon. I have the first quarter of my Halfmarathon-Preparation done and I'm aiming at a time of 1 hour 50 minutes now. I just hope that the weather will be OK then.

Deb,
we're sorry to lose you :( , but perhaps you can start or find a thread for your cruise. If you start one, feel free to use our blank list as an example.

SOMEone is pregnant but you gotta read the posts to find out who!

Congrats on finishing the marathon!

Rosemary,

did I miss something or are you trying to pull poor Dan's leg?

Thanks to all of you who sent me get well wishes. I am feeling better but still squeaky as Cathy said. I don't know when my voice will be back. Today Mike and I took Katie home to Lebanon and met Stacey at the Cracker Barrel for lunch. I was trying to talk and every so often this LOUD word would come out. It was embarrassing.

Katie is a wonderful little girl. I love her more than a hog loves slop, but she can wear me out! Stacey told her Papa today that from now on when they ask us to keep Katie that she will check the forecast to see if it is going to snow so that it can be stretched out to 2, maybe 3 days. ;) Stace wasn't aware that her Papa and I had already talked about that very fact and WE are also going to check the forecast and if snow is in there, we will not be keeping that little bundle of energy.;)

The snow is beautiful. We have not had measurable snow since 1997. We have enjoyed it. My son and his wife had to park their little Geo Tracker with 4 wheel drive about 3 miles from home yesterday and walk home. Even though the Tracker had 4 wheel drive, the traffic was not moving at all. They were frozen Popsicles when they got home. Mike and Mike Jr. went to get the car today and our street is still frozen over. The main streets are in good shape for the most part. However on the way home from Lebanon we saw an SUV spin out on the interstate, right into the medium. Scary.

Rosemary, so happy for your new furniture. Sorry Deb that you and your son will not be joining us. The ship will be intact for y'all at Thanksgiving. At least they ought to be able to clean up most of it by then. ;) We are a rowdy crowd.:)

Good to see you both home Dan and Scott. Good for you. At least you did it. I sit and don't do much at all.

Take care everyone. The temps here tonight is a chilly 10F. I guess we will have to throw at least 3 more dogs on the bed to keep us warm. ;) Kathy with a K

Good to hear that you're OK again, Kathy.

Dan,
How long do you know Rosemary know? :p
And you still fall for her tricks :jester:

Well done Rosemary,
and have fun with the new furniture.

Kathy, Hope you are feeling better.
Deb, Sorry to lose you but I'm sure your Thanksgiving trip will be a blast.
Rosemary, LOL you are BAD! and congrats on your new furniture.
Dan, Congrats on finishing your race.
Mike, Please don't even suggest that we will not make the Western this time. Although I had a fantastic time on the Mystery Cruise, I really want to see the Caymans, and Mexico.

Glad this week is over! Had a terrible day yesterday. A patient's husband called the police on me, and wanted to have me arrested. Long story. Later, Ave'

Congrats on the half marathon.....better you than me.

Rosemary, Cathy, it is next Saturday, the 25th that we leave on our cruise. Lindsey will not be missing any college as the University of Delaware has an interim semester in January and she does not have to return until Feb 10th. It is also Regents week in NY and Corey does not have any regent exams so he only misses one day of school. Originally regents week was scheduled a week earlier and we were on a Western cruise, but changed it so we are on an Eastern. So Cruisetoberfest will be our first Western too.

Dave

Hello Ave and Dave. Congratulations on the half Marathon Dan, you the man! I completed the 30 foot marathon from the computer room to the cherry turnover. Had a tough time breaking the toilet tissue finish line;)

Ave you will enjoy Cozumel, especially Carlos and Charlie's. Margaritas the size of a gallon bucket;) Disney needs to have a new game. Everyone boards a segway with their beverage of choice, water, coke(soda or pop to my Yankee brethren), lite beer(don't want to slow you down;)) and try to race from one side of the basketball area to the other.

Smooth sailing Dave to you, Ellen, Corey and Lindsey. We are looking forward to cruising with you this October.

Thank goodness for ie spell check. The older I get the less I can spell correctly. The fingers have a mind of their own. The brain is willing, but the body ain't able:teeth:

Cathy with @C, sun has improved road conditions some. Mailman even found the mailbox. Tow truck drivers are making a killing during this short span of time.

Eric and Anja hope that the rivers in Germany are behaving and staying in their banks. Tell Gramps that we said hello. Mike

Hi all (or ya'll)
Still around, just tired and busy.

Papa and ..athy with a C or K ( sorry, too early for me) wish we had some of your snow. It has been 30 and 40 here, DD has been up snowboarding a couple of times but all the kids want us to have enough snow so they can sled down the hill across the road from us. I would just like snow for this long weekend and then it can go away! Know what you mean about the baby! My neighbor has a new one and I adore getting my "baby fix" from her, but am always glad I can hand her back;)

Nancy, Congratulations on finishing your zapping.
I am in the middle of stuff here but will send you a pm when I get a chance.

Whoever (Whomever?) got the new furniture:Congratulations, hope it looks beeuuuutifulll....

Our big news here is that we finally sold our house. :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc After being on the market for eight months! We had just relisted it quite a bit below the first price, but thats ok. I think the first realtor had it over priced.:p Anyway, the people that bought it have a house to sell themselves, but it is in a great location and a really nice house (we were considering a "swap" but it didn't work out) so as soon as theirs sells we will have to get on ours. We were hoping to avoid having to rent somewhere (know how hard it is to find a place to rent with three kids, three dogs and two cats:) ) but it will take them aboutfour months to get our new house built. We are staying in the same place. Just downsizing. I can't wait to get into a smaller, more manageable house. This is our third build in twelve years. Bill says I just want to build a new house whenever the one we are in starts getting cluttered. Says building is easier than doing spring cleaning:o Yeah, Right! Anyway, I think after three times this time should be a breeze,

I am taking the classes now for my Masters. I had forgotten how much work it is. Too many papers to write. but it is wonderful to be back in a classroom with adults and having good conversation that doesn't center on what child is going where, or who needs what for school etc. know what I mean?

I love the flylady. I discovered her about six months ago and she had done wonders for me. I have always been pretty organized but I love getting her messages. We will begin the "before the move" decluttering tomorrow. My mom is coming up to helpl me. She is great at throwing other people's things away:p

Dan and Scott, kudos to you for running the marathon. That was the time of year we always used to go to disney. Last year we did the criuse twice instead. Gotta get down to disneyworld, soon!

Hello to Ave, and Relling Twin and ..athy and Art. My three pooches (who are snuggled up at my feet!) say Woof to Ashlee.

William says hi to all he met. He keeps talking about the cruise and would dearly love to take another soon (sans his little brother!)

Whew sorry for such a long post. Just got carried away. Will propbably be quite awhile before the next one though.
Have a Magical weekend.
Elaine

Hello all:wave: The temperature right now is 2 degrees F(-17C)and Elaine we still have all of our snow on the ground. Congratulations on selling the house. Ave you will have to pm us with details of you toe to toe with that patient.

Good to talk with you in chat last night Rosemary. Hope that the green mint tea was good. Mike

Gee Mike,
that's cold!!! Love the pic of your "Iced Beetle".

Over here the flood barriers have been removed, everything is back to normal.
My employer (Boeing) just raised our salaries by 3%, which is OK considering the state the American and German economies are in. Anja also got a raise of 2.4% right now, plus another 1% in the summer and finally another 1% next January. But I'm afraid most of it will be eaten up by the freshly raised taxes
Yesterday I washed our car to remove the stains of 4 weeks of harsh winter and guess what: I discovered that it is silver :jester:

We just returned from the gym, and I did the 15km (9.4mls) as planned in 75 minutes - Halfmarathon, here I come!! Anja joined me and did 12km in the same time, which is great, but she still hesitates to join me in the race. But this may be good, so she can cheer me up at the track and hand me my bottle and a dry shirt at the finish line.

Elaine,
congratulations on selling the house!!

Rosemary and Rich,
did you get my mail with the final translation of the phrase from your mug?

Dave and Ellen,
enjoy your cruise. We wish we could accompany you!!

Eric, this morning I was stopped at a light and the license plate holder of the car in front of me said: "Caution, German Woman At The Wheel." Not sure what she was trying to say but it made me smile and think of you.:D I followed her for awhile and she seemed to drive fine.

Still in the high 60s, low 70s here but suppose to rain on Wednesday. That's more like January around here.

Go Titians!!!

Deb

Deb,
maybe it's because we have many mean jokes about ladydrivers over here, butI think so do you. I used to read the MAD-magazine for a long time (Yes, that explains a lot, doesn't it ;) ) and they also had lots of jokes about them.
