eshannon, congrats on selling your house!!!
Greeting and Salutations to Everyone!
Later, Ave'

Way to go Eric with the marathon workouts and washing your car. Don't let Anja get her license or you will never be able to drive the convertible again:teeth:

It is snowing again in Nashville.

Ave hope that you are staying warm there in the panhandle of Florida.

Cathy with@C thought about you and ARCA when we were at the cracker barrel and saw the boyd's bears.

I saw on a earlier thread that they thought that it was better to take the trolley there in Key West than the train, because the train didn't stop on the tours. Guess that we will have to check with Shirley about that.

DCL if you are watching this thread how about giving us a meeting room aboard ship to have our dis meet?

Mike

Hi everyone,

Congrats on the home sale Elaine. Wish it was me.:D I keep telling Mike I want to sell and get in the country so Katie can run those fat hams of hers off. I want to have a garden too. I miss fresh tomatoes and green beans, squash and eggplant.

Have to post a picture of your new furniture Rosemary.

Eric, does/has Anja ever chased you with a frying pan? Is this the true reason for the marathons? To get away?????:teeth: Come on boy! The truth will set you free!:p Just joking, I hope you know that.:p

The snow is so pretty and the streets are so icy! Mike was driving today for the visits I couldn't do due to sickness and I was a nervous wreck. He is such a good driver but I was holding onto anything I could. I think I made him nervous.

That's ok Ave, I had a patient's mother who is psycho fire me last week.:o I simply told her that smoking in the house with a new baby was bad for the baby's' lungs and that studies show that babies in homes with HEAVY smoking had more and worse respiratory problems. She fired me...Also she did not like the fact that I pointed out that the baby was over 6 weeks old and had not had any of his immunizations. My boss told me to report her to child protective services because that is child abuse. I am going to call her Monday to see if the baby has been to a pediatrician yet and if not then will tell her what I have to do. I don't want to but then...It is for the baby's health. This is the part of this new job I don't like. I hope she doesn't know where I live and shoot me. :(

Nancy, I haven't been back to the hospital since I wrote last but will be sure to pass on your message to Bunny. I can't wait to see the Harley Rider tattooed on her chest.;)

My DD2 lost one of her ferrets two days ago and Mike and I went to get it yesterday to bury it in the Pet Cemetery in our front yard. Well, the ground is covered with 7 inches of snow and frozen. We left the poor ferret in the trunk of the car (Scarlet) in the pet carrier (? why she put it in there I'll never understand) and we left it in there all day yesterday and last night. Guess what? Even frozen dead animals can stink! I got into the car after one visit today and blamed Mike for the odor in the car and he got mad at me then we remembered the ferret in the trunk. I am still apologizing.:o Poor ole "Fert" (that was her name) is now on the back porch waiting for the ground to thaw enough to bury her. She was one biting little girl. Her brother, Possum an albiano ferret is really sweet.

That is all the news I can think of for now. Take care everyone. Kathy with a K

What a day!!!! We picked up and sorted out over 2000 boxes of Girls Scout cookies! I now have a "wall of cookies" in my dinning room!
I am really proud of the girls. We have a very small troop (only 7 girls) and only 6 of them sold cookies, so I think they did very well.

Elaine...conrats on the house. One question...how do you build a house in 4 months???Good luck with the move and finding a place until your home is ready.

Rosemary...waiting to see pics of the new stuff. BTW ...you had me going about someone being pregnant. I thought "now how did I miss THAT??":p

It's been pretty cold here but no snow. Just ice where people have forgotten to turn off the automatic sprinklers!!!

CheesePlease! Have a great time. Looking forward to seeing you and Ellen again.

I just got the winning bid (on EBay) on a pair of 2 way radios. We will try them out next month at Hilton Head and see how they work. I hope this will reduce the stress of looking for the kids on the cruise. It seemed I spent half the time looking for them, not because I needed them, just so I knew where they were. I think the radios will be a big help.

Well..the "Cookie Mom" is going to BED! It's been a LONG day!:)

You got me on that! And it really hurts when she hits me, because she always hits below the beltline as she can't reach higher - Remember Anja's kind of vertically challenged :teeth:

If she really stinks, perhaps you should change her name postmortem by exchanging the "e" for an "a" :jester:

Meant to put "Just Lurking" here & hit new thread instead...so,you can check out snow pictures on board if you like...I'll learn to do this someday !!!LOL

Kathy, Thanks for the story of your phycho lady. Most people don't realize how difficult it can be dealing with all sorts of people day in and day out. This is my story: I was checking in patients during a very busy afternoon clinic. To protect patients privacy, only the patient is allowed into the back for vitals. Once the patient is ready to be put in a room, then family members my be brought back. Well I had a husband that didn't want his wife to go into the back without him. I told him three times that I was simply getting her vitals, BP,Wt, and Urine, and that he would be allowed in the exam room as soon as this was done. He refused to listen, and became verbally abusive. ( His wife is from Russian, but speaks English pretty well.) She is also not a citizen, has no green card, and is total dependent on this guy. I had some bad feelings about his treatment of his wife, but since they only started prenatal care a few weeks ago, (and she is now 39 weeks) I couldn't really figure him out. He is Very creepy, and seems to have a very inflated ego. Also he insistes on his wife only seeing our female doc, or female midwives. I guess he figures he can bully a women. Anyway when I refused to let him into the back he started making a huge fuss. He threatened me, ect, ect. Then I turned to his wife and asked her if she was being hurt by this man. He EXPLODED!!! And asked me why I would ask such a question. I responded that in my experience that men who would not leave their wives alone for even a moment were often abusive. That's when he said he would see me in court. He and his wife left. The police arrived about ten minutes later. He wanted to have me arrested for slander. The police were very cool. They recognized that this guy is a bit unbalanced, and they told me I did the right thing. But I can't help worrying that this creep will hurt his wife because of me. Later, Ave'

Ave,
I had similar experiences when I worked in the ER und during my career as a paramedic. The problem was always the same: You only have a chance to help these women when you can separate them at least for some time from their spouses and make clear that you will help them and take measures to protect them - By police, social workers, etc. When you try it while the bullies are present you only risk getting hurt yourself or you generate more agression against the woman. Unfortunately it's very often a No-Win-Situation :(
But you seem to be be a very tough and courageous lady!!

Ave ... You did the right thing with that patient. Seems like someting may be going on. 1. He didn't want anyone to be able to ask the wife ?'s without him to scare her - maybe, may not! 2. Where the heck have they been, if this is the first visit and she is so far along? Seems like he just wants to bully women and may need a counseling session or two. Take Care and remember your first instinct is usually the best one.

Dan & Scott ... How GREAT you made it thru the race! Way to Go.

Rosemary ... Furnutire sounds nice - enjoy.

Mike ... Heard that too about the Trolley vs the Train. We'll have to check out further. Shirley will probably be the best advisor on that.

Kathy with @ K ... Glad you feel a little better. Too funny about Fert (with an E). But just what did you think Mike ate to make that smell?

Elaine ... Great news about the house. Good luck finding an apartment till the new one is built.

William ... Look for the mailman in a few days or so. I've got something going your way.

OK ... now to the GAMES ... Mike, I'm rooting for your Titans and this house is thinking EAGLE green!

Well off to the snack table..................

Cathy with a C

Hi to all the Southeners out there ;) ,

we just saw "Sweet Home Alabama" and loved it!!! Did anyone of you see that movie?
And I liked the music so much that I immediately went online and ordered the Soundtrack from Amazon.de (German branch of Amazon.com).
We just arranged with DU/DCL for our cruise documents to be sent to the Pier. We will pick them up on embarkation day as DCL can't guarantee to have them sent to Germany in time as we will leave for the USA 3 weeks before the cruise.
And this afternoon I bought the air for our trip to Berlin in March/April. I had to act fast as I could get them with a 70% reduction, but the availibility was limited. Now we will fly for €174/$165 for the two of us from Frankfurt to Berlin and back. That's a great price!! On wednesday, after Anja's vacation planning meeting in the hospital, I will book the hotel and next weekend we will do the bookings for Florida :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Now it's bedtime - We have to get up at 5am :(

Cathy, Art. So sorry about the Eagles. I was rooting for them too. The Packers are my team (Cheese and All), but they made a much too early exit from the playoffs. Their injuries just caught up with them. They had done a great job of over coming the injuries all season, but too much for them in the end. Although I was really disappointed to see them lose those last two game, they made it alot farther that I would have every guessed at the beginning of the season. With all the revamping of the offense, I thought they were in for a long rough season.

Sorry again about the Eagles.

Papa, now I am a Titians fan :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Dave

Where the heck is Taswire????

Deb, sorry you will not be sailing with us:( but glad you are still going:D

Dave are you all packed??? Are you going to post from the ship? When do you leavefor FL? Have a safe trip and a wonderful cruise!

I placed a bid today on 150 lanyards on EBay. I'll know by midnight if I got them. At .10 each it was hard to pass up. Since we are hoping to get in the 150-200 person range the .10 each looked alot better then the .50 cost on pervious cruises:eek:
I just did a count and we are up to 79 (56 adults/23 kids)

Woops..I almost forgot my jumpy things!!:o

38 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yeah, the BUCS won!
I may live outside of Philly right now but Tampa Bay is my NFC home team since I lived in Orlando for 12 years. Now if only the Titans can pull off a win. Then I won't know who to root for in the Super Bowl.

Congratulations Nancy on the bucs. Titans fumbled their way home:mad:     Mike

 HELLO EVERYONE!!!!

Dan - I hope you are not mad at me. Please come back and post. I'll be good and stop my teasing. ;) (And I didn't just "get" you.... I also "got" at least Eric and Kathy and Mary. So you are in good company.) *smiling sweetly*

Mike - Enjoyed chatting with you too Friday night. And my tea was cold by the time I got to it. :(

Mary - Yeah! Just where is Taswira?? Last I heard, she was suffering from a nasty cold that her DH gave her. HOPE YOU ARE BETTER TAS!!

Also Mary, hope you get that great deal on the lanyards. Except maybe you should have waited until AFTER midnight before posting its existance on a public forum. We get LOTS of views to this thread! LOL.

Cheese and Windy and papa - Football talk is a foreign language to me. :p

Eric - Yes, thank you I got your translation and have already sent off another requested interpretation. Hope you and Anja are having sweet dreams right now.

Kathy and Mike - Too funny with the ferret story.

Bettemom - Saw your photos on the "lurking" thread.

Eshanon - Congrats on selling the home and luck with the new building. You guys have much experience in that, don't ya!

TwinAve - Praying that everything works out okay for that patient and her baby (and saying a prayer for you too).

Cathy and Art - I gotta get the town my niece just moved to in PA. Somewhere in the Poconos. They have had tons of snow too.

And, as requested, a photo of our new dining room furniture: <IMG width= "300" SRC="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid47/p13c8d7eec777a60f47513cf4d8c06616/fcc1778f.jpg">

Mike -
Sorry about the Titans. At least now I know who to root for next week.
I never did care for any of the western teams. Although the AFC is still my favorite conference. Something about rooting for the underdog I guess.

Tuli -
Don't worry, DH doesn't know much about football either. I was able to compromise a few times this year and see some games in the 4th quarter while he was doing schoolwork. I on the other hand had no choice but to become a football fanatic because I grew up in Pittsburgh in the 70's.

I can't resist. I gotta post a second view:

(Thanks Windy!)

Someone stop me before I do a third angle!!

HA! He left our computer room. Third and last photo:

I promise, no more.....

Oh - We need to get a new lighting fixture now. One thing leads to another.....

(Thanks guys for letting me indulge in my little photoshoot)
