OK ..... What the heck is a passporter? Driving me nuts and that's not a long drive (beat you to it Dan, Mike & Eric!)

Is it anything like a personal organizer? I have one with all of my CRUISETOBERFEST I, DIS CRUISEASRS, CRUISETOBERFEST II, DIS, DU , & WDW info in it. Without it I'd never be able to keep any of this straight.

Gotta run ... gonna try and learn a little bit more about this new puter!

Cathy with @ C

Cold Haters, move to Fl!! Our four seasons are: Summer, June-Sept (don't go outside unless you plan on being in the water) Fall,Sept-Dec ( t-shirt and jeans), Winter,(dig out the warm stuff) lasts from mid-Dec till End of Feb. Spring (March) March-May Time for t-shirts again. No snow, no sanders, no salt, but of we do have a hurricane season!!!;) Later, Ave'

Reasearch papers! Thought that would get your attention. I SHOULD NOT even be on a disney web place, but was on the puter doing research and had to check and see what you all were up to. Turned in my first paper last night and I was sure the professor was going to take one look at it and look at me, roll his eyes and say Grad Student?? I don't think so. But, he didn't and I even managed to participate in the discussion and not sound like an idiot. I have paired up with another teacher who is "older" or as I like to say,"wiser". It is hard getting back into this routine, but things sure are lots easier now. I can stay at home and access our library from the university and get all my reasearch done from here. Of course, there is the constant interuptions from all the "darlings". My little guy must have seen the commercial about the lady reading and saying she hasn't studied in awhile, then he makes her a peanut butter sandwich. Patrick did that last night. I hate peanut butter though!!! Fed it to the dog when he wasn't looking.:p

The passporter is a neat thing, Last year when the new one came out they were giving all the ones from the previous year away for free! You just had to pay the postage. I got eight for five dollars. Shared them with all my disney friends. They are alot like a planner. I like that it has pouches for stuff and that it is in a three ring binder. Has the basic information as other books and more! They have been working on a passporter for the cruise. They have a website. I think if you search passporter it will come up.
Weather here was very foggy and rainy today. I actually like it for a change. Wish I could get some of your snow!

Nancy, did you see the new disney scrapbook albums? Our local scrapbook stores got them in. Am thinking about getting one. Let me know if you can't find them and want one.

It is our anniversay march 11th and my birthday the same day, (I figured he couldn't forget both of them on the same day!), I think we are going to go down to disneyworld the week of Feb 3rd or the week of the 16th. We want to use our annual passes one more time. Just Bill and I. I can miss one class. The Animal Kingdom Lodge has a special at $109. Has anyone ever stayed there? We will only go for three or four days.

Well. the books are calling. Will check in again later.

Cathy with a C...I watched the Food network the other day and got this receipe that is out of this world and easy to make. I made if for the teachers at school today and they loved it too!! It is called "Not Yo' Momma's Banana Pudding" I will pm the receipe to you! Let me know how you like it.

Stay Warm!!! Elaine

Hi Elaine...

We stayed at the lodge last May and LOVED it......The only thing I did not like was the "hike" to get my morning coffee...

Fast food place was great...BUT do not miss buffet !!!!!

Enjoy ...Happy Anny & happy b-day.....(our dear friends b'day is also March 11th

Bette :p

Elaine-- Great price for the AKL! We've never stayed there, but it sounds wonderful. My twin sisters' b'days are also March 11th. I like the Passporter for our trips too. Have pre-ordered the one for the DCL. The pockets are great for stuffing all our paperwork, etc. Loved the PBJ story!

Interesting the way different places have set up their trash pickups. We used to have to buy the city's large trash bags for 3/$5 or something like that and then a tag for $5-$10 for oversized items like furniture/appliances. Thank goodness they've changed that to a $7.50/month charge on our water/sewer bill and we can set out anything! There is a lot of stuff that disappears from the curb before the trash is picked up and people look through the recycle bins for aluminum cans.

Keep warm! We're supposed to get a heat wave up into the 20's this weekend! Oh, boy! :teeth:

Hi everyone,

Just got home from a long night of doing nothing on the Pediatric floor. They just wanted the "RN" there with the person who was really in charge. :( She is an LPN who has worked so long there that I would trust her with any of my kids. She is great and I have learned a lot from her.

It is a blistering 7F. degrees here this morning. It will be -2 in the morning when I get up. The wind just takes my breath away when I first get outside. Wow! Glad I don't live in Minn. or Canada. By next week it will be back in the 60's. Love this Tenn. weather.

Congratulations Elaine! I really envy your get up and go I wish I had it in me to go back to school and get my BS in Nursing or maybe even my Masters. Where I work though it doesn't pay any more than for a diploma nurse. I have my AD in nursing but there are Diploma nurses making the same as me.

This snow and ice is making visits difficult for my second job. Hopefully I will get to make a LOT of visits on Saturday. I promised Friday this week to DD2 and DGD.:Pinkbounc Lord is she cute!

Mike has just gotten back in the house from salting and placing sand in the driveway. Scarlet has front wheel drive and just came on up the drive without any problem but he wants to keep it that way. It is not the going up, it is the going down that is scary.;)

I know some dump pickers personaly that love looking through other peoples trash. Do you remember Jeff Foxworthy's jokes on furniture on the side of the road? "Hey, if that couch is still there tonight it'll be in my living room tomorrow" Or something like that. Boy Nancy you must throw out some good trash.;) We just have to put it out on the road and call to have it picked up. We can get rid of large items (old refrig., stoves etc) twice a year. If you have more, well then you leave it in front of a neighbors.:teeth: With their permission of course.

Love the pb&j story too. That is so sweet of him to think of his mom that way. I know you are proud of him.

I am so pooped, I did one set of vital signs last night and kept up with the baby's I's and O's (Intake and Output) Took all of maybe 30 minutes of work including charting. The rest of the night I spent visiting with my friend on the peds floor. The less you work the more tired you are.

Take care, stay warm, please think about your pets and get them in out of the cold. Kathy, with a K;)

Am so excited. Spent the evening planning and "rationalizing". We (that would be me!) decided (that would be rationalized):p that it would be in our "best interest" to go to disneyworld and take the boys as United has a great double miles offer. We are all so close that it will put us over for 4 free tickets. Then, I decided we had to pay the same for a room wether there are 2 or 4 of us. so.....we are going on Feb 3rd and returning on the 7th Staying at AKL I am just now trying to find a good rate on a car. Can;t believe it only ten days! We are not telling the boys. I am terrible at keeping secrets but I WILL do it this time. Am thinking the weather isn';t too warm, but I like it that way. I am sure it will feel warm to us anyway. If anyone wants anything, let me know (pins, etc)

Those of you that were there recently, is the new epcot thing open? The Mars thing. Don't know the name of it. Thanks Elaine:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Fioana and Cathy,

just check out PASSPORTER WEB-SITE .
It is the ultimate WDW-Guide and travelplaner. It contains a guidebook, pouches for all your stuff, etc. If you buy it directly from them you also get a free internet-update service.
You can get it as a spiral-book or as a DeLuxe-version in a very nice and impressive binder. It helps you keeping all your travel-related stuff in order (Good for us Germans ;) ), also works as a diary for your vacation, you can collect all those nasty credit-card-receipt in it, etc.

Mary,
is snow so rare in Charleston? I know it is in the South, but don't you get snow from time to time?

Dave and Ellen,
have a safe and joyful trip!!!

Eric ... Thanks bunches for that PassPorter link. I already have a small organizer binder that has my DIS stuff in it and I may order
just the pages for it.

Back to work.............

Cathy with @ C

The Western tip of South Carolina is the the foothills of the mountains, and snow there is pretty common, but here on the coast, snow is very uncommon. The last time there was a "real" snowfall was Christmas on 1989 (just after Hurricain Hugo. Charleston got about 4 inches and it stayed for a few days.
Last winter it snowed a few times but it was always mixed with rain, and barely visible.
Today it was really comming down  but only lasted about 2 hours and did not stick to the road ways.
If school was not already in session, they would have cancelled school. Most of the reason is because so much of Charleston is connected with large bridges, and if they freeze, they close!
Also there is NO, Nada, nothing, in the way of snow removal/sanding equipment. 2 guys in the back of a dump truck throwing out shovels of sand is about the most we can hope for:p
Also, no one knows how to drive on icey roads ...so it is like a demolition derby when the roads freeze.

So much for going south to get warm!!!!!! Only good thing is that we are supposed to have temperatures in the +'s this weekend.
-8 F this morning ... darned near froze of my ***.

How about this for a meditation mantra ... REPEAT AFTER ME....

:bounce: DIS FRIENDS :bounce: GREAT FOOD :bounce:
:bounce: SUN :bounce: WARM, SOFT SAND :bounce:
:bounce: BEAUTIFUL TURQUOISE WATER :bounce:
:bounce: ROOM SERVICE :bounce: NO COOKING, CLEANING
OR DISHES :bounce:

OK I think I feel better now!

Back to work .........

Cathy With @ C

PS Mary - checked out the laynards - COOL, But still think us
more seasoned people need the magnifiers too!

When I looked at Orlando weather this morning, it was 33 and felt like 23. Wonder what it will be like in a week or so. ? '
Just saw a show on travel channel that was all about AKL it looks like a great place,

Was down to 2 F this am. Our vw broke down on the road last evening. I forgot to put the diesel fuel conditioner in the tank yesterday morning and the fuel jelled in the lines and plugged the fuel filer. So we are car-less until they fix it at the dealership. The ice formed on the inside of the windows while we were waiting for the tow truck. We hadn't fogged up the windows like that in 30 years ;) ;) ;) ;) Mike

We saw it on the Evening News tonight that the East Coast looks like the Arctic, even the citrus-farmers in FLA fear for their harvest. The anchor said the losses for the farmers may be as high as 7 billion bucks :(
They showed lots of snow in North Carolina, and reported about 1100 car wrecks. We saw lots of pictures about sliding and crashing cars.
We hope that everyone of you is fine and can sit in a well-heated house and wait for warmer days. Just try to visualize yourself in a cozy deckchair on your way to wonderful waters of the Caribbean.

Mike & Kathy,
we hope that Scarlett will be fine again when she has thawed. Deoesn't she have an electrically heated fuel filter?

Just had to move you off of page 2. Weather here is still prety temperate (50s) so I won't complain about being cold:rolleyes: Everyone stay warm (or come visit CA).

BTW, we are going to Disneyland next month...if anyone wants anything (pins, etc.) I'd be happy to pick up.

Deb

heh heh
It was in the upper 20's this morning here in Tampa / St Petersburg - a record! The previous record was only 30 - only a couple of degrees difference from the record, but still a record!

Of course everyone at work was bundled up like it was arctic weather! I had a long sleeve shirt and my Pooh jean/sweatshirt jacket on.

This is like dead-of-winter weather for us. This is why I moved back to Florida from Chicago - we may see this weather for 2 weeks - not 4 months.

Chris,
this morning we also were in the 20ies, but now we are in the upper 30ies/lower 40ies with fair blue skies. In the morning I drove downtown to do some shoppinh and on the way back home I drove with the top down, but windows and windblocker up and heater on full power ;) It's a little consolation for us that for once it is warmer in Germany than in Florida :p
