We are willing to go along with whatever anyone else wants to do with dinner--personally, we love the dinner rotation having Luminere's three times so that would not be a problem for us but don't want to create problems for anyone. There only being 3 of us (and we do see each others faces for dinner every night) it is nice to be placed with others and get to know them. Sarah is an only child so she is very mature for her age but I can certainly relate to people who choose not to dine with kids and have no problem with that. We actually ate at a table for 4 on the Holland America Cruise but were surrounded (literally) by a Chinese couple and their children (7 of them) and their grandchildren. The children spoke limited English and the grandparents spoke Chinese at the table but by the end of the cruise, we were all trying to communicate and we had such a good time with the kids--they even invited us out to San Francisco to visit them if we ever find ourselves in CA! Sam is very quiet and as my late mother would say that I could talk a dog into walking off of a meat wagon!! Thanks Dan for all of your help--hope we didn't cause you too much grief!

Yes--it is true that Cathy and I spoke today and we are meeting for lunch. The party is on my floor of the hospital for the next two days because my boss is on his way to Florida!! When she called me, I have to give this long spheel about thank you for calling the hospital and what can I do to help you--no wonder I don't answer my phone when I get home at night!!

Doug..I am calling my superintendent in the morning to tell him that you said it was ok for Sarah to miss school. LOL! We are supposed to have snow tonight so she is hoping for either a two hour delay or a day off--only problem is that school will be held until July at the rate we are going. I will email you Sarah's email address (I actually forgot to do it sooner) so she and Cori can correspond.

I just signed up for physical therapy for my knee so that I don't have to do the scavenger hunt with a walker although Pinky wouldn't look bad sitting in the basket in the front pf the walker--Eric and papa--I did tell you that Pinky in Pennsylvania is our new slogan??

Shari..know that you are just lurking lately and I can say that I don't blame you--seems to me like you took a little too much heat for posting about your copyrighted photos (IMHO) and I for one felt that you had every right to want to protect your pictures--you may want to check the new post about "Watch what you take pictures of" Hope you are having a great evening and we miss you. Mary Jo

Cathy & Mary Jo--- Today was such a beautiful day, 50 degrees and the sun was shining. It almost made me think that spring couldn't be far behind. Then Cathy tells me we are to have snow. Will it ever end?

Cathy--- Norm is doing really well, he no longer has any leg pain since having the stent. He noticed a difference right away, because 2 days after the stent placement, he had to go out and move snow around and no leg cramping. Thanks for asking. I will CHILL. I have to plan my 5/24 Pride cruise, then will move onto the Octoberfest Cruise. Or better yet, last year when we ended up going to different ports, I just rolled with the flow and everything seemed to work out.

I did see a cute sign today on the way home from work. On top of a huge snow pile was a sign "Snow for Sale"

Watched American Idol, now want to see the end of I'm A Celebrity. Hope Melissa Rivers wins.

Nancy

It was in the 50's here so I opened alot of windows in the house to get some fresh air. Very nice. Now they are saying snow. sleet and rain for rush hour tomorrow. Good thing I'm second shift tomorrow

George got an mail from a friend of ours in Orlando that they have a reservation on hold for 10/11. They had to get in touch with us to make sure it was right week. I will try to get them join our thread. Now I'll have to fill them in on all of our plans.

By the way,

LAPLAPL is dining rotation 3
APLAPLA is dining rotation 2

We have always had rotation 3. But it does not have a good formal night rotation ( I think we were in PC for both nights). I'd be ok with rotation 2 and if we get real lucky and get a good server I will be able to request him/her for the following week. I'm hoping at some point we will have Jean from France.

so, I'm the only one still awake huh?

catching up on my soap operas trying to wind down from work.

It's "shovels", isn't it? German Brain Fart  :p

It is 6:15 a.m. and I am so tired. It has been a long night.

Anja, do you have any nursing techs working with you? Some call them nurses's aids. I used to be a certified nurse technician. I used to hate those uppitity RN's.:o It seemed to me that I was doing all the scutt work and they sat on their behinds and wrote in charts. Hah! Little did I know. :p I do not miss those days at all.
I did give good baths though.;) Still do, only my patients are smaller. :teeth: How do you do it? You are so small and having to move a huge man who just had bone surgery has to be impossible.

Hope Ollie is doing ok. Glad to hear Roland's mom is doing great. Take care everyone. It is time to finish my charting and get ready to give report and get home. Yeah! No one is going to have to rock me to sleep today.;)

Kathy with a K

padisneyfan..Nancy--loved the snow for sale sign!! LOL!! Do you think that we could get some of the southerners on this thread to purchase any from us--we could use the money to buy some smoothies and konk koolers!! Can't wait for spring!!

As for snow, GoofyNut got more than us..all of the schools in their area either were closed (including Art's) or had a two hour delay and my daughter was all set to have a delay this morning when she woke up and there was nothing on the ground!! At 7:25 she was still sitting on her bed in her pj's hoping for a delay (we have to leave for school by 7:40 so she is there for her homeroom at 7:49!! Then I wonder why I have to dye my gray hair!! From the news reports that we had, they had sleet and snow and freezing rain up Cathy and Art's way but we didn't have anything on the ground (I probably live 15 miles from them)--it is snowing now but nothing major. In Scranton, where Cathy and I both work (at least in my part of town) we only have a dusting.

NOTE: I added some new information about payment. Dont send checks until mid-July. I'll remind everyone. Graff (Southernmost Scavenger Hunt) said that the group is getting so large we many have to move the meeting place, but he'll tell us more about that as we get closer and we get a more finalized count. It's nice to see such a crowd. Remember, we are ALL wearing the same t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut. I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Can I add any more people to our list?

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that. We will be sending our checks AND a self-addressed stamped envelope (so the checks can be returned if we miss Key West) to the following address:
The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040
DO NOT SEND CHECKS, YET!

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM. Remember to wear your ScavengEar t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Tina

Good Morning,
SNOW....COLD.....YUCK !!!

Mary Jo,we have another 6 inches coming....Still have 4'on the ground with piles at about 8'

Never had winter where we didn't at least see the ground sometime....:(

Kathy..get some rest !!Don't want you sick again !!:D

Bette

Mary Jo,

Just noticed...you've been hit by the Tag Fairies !!
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

What fun !!:p :p

Mary Jo--- Right now it is only raining, but is to get colder later and then up to 2" of snow. Maybe we could sell it on ebay. They say people will buy anything.

Bette--- The only ground I can see is where Norm snowblowed the snow so the dogs had a place to go. Needless, to say that area is very brown and messy. I think it was better with the snow covering it.

Kathy --- Glad to hear that Bunny looked so good. This week at work has been quite for some reason. All the doctors must have gone south to get away from the snow. Since I don't have many patients am working on special project to realert my staff to keep heels off the bed and prevent pressure ulcers. Lately, our Fx hips patients seem to be having an increase incidence of them. It's not rocket science, keep the heels of the bed and they don't get sore. Everyone is busy, so sometimes a little reminder helps. Skin breakdown is a big thing that JACHO looks at and the Board of Health.

Tina--- Are you just going to get rain your way?

Have a great day.

Nancy

Nancy (CI) --- Which soap do you watch? I try to take a late lunch so I can watch part of "Days" The Falling Water website was very intersting. I pass that exit on my way out to visit DS#2. The adult and older children usually are on the LAPLAPL. That is the one I have always been on. You did spend formal night in Parrot's Cay, but I didn't mind it. They even had a band playing while we dined.

Mike ... Thanks for the "signature" help. I was afraid that the tag fairies would get me with one as big as the swimming Goofy.

Tina ... When I get home I'll send you my work-up of the ScavengEAR Logo to see what you think of it.

Our beloved state treasurer has a newspaper article in the paper about $2000 of $ that may be due deceased Railroaders. The $ is not from us but from an insurance policy that the railroads had on their guys .... dosen't matter we'll still get the calls.

Eric ... "brain fart" or too much sauerkraut!

Gotta run .....

Cathy with @ C

Cathy-- My dad would be one of those deceased Railroaders. I'll have to check out the article, since he can't. He had been involved in all kinds of claims (hearing, asbestos). I guess years ago there were no standards for those guys and then lawyers started contacting them about all these class action suits. I know after his death, we still were getting contacted by lawyers.

Nancy

Nancy ... Send me an E-mail @ work ... WerneCL@RRB.GOV
I'll try and look up your dad (need first and last name and year of birth/death). I'll send you back what you will need for the ?aire for the insurance company.

Cathy

PS ... Hope I didn't upset anyone last night with my "Take a Chill" post but seems we were getting a little uptight.
