Kathy...told you that I could talk a dog off of a meat wagon!!!

Welcome to Gaby and Silent Shot. As the organizer of the ScavengEar Hunt in Key West would you like to join us? We are like 56 people strong! It's a fun way to see the sites.

Let me know.
Tina :)

WELCOME TO JEF AND GABY

Please let Gaby know that I am also a breast cancer survivor and this cruise is a celebration of being one year cancer free. In fact had my surgery 2 days after returning from last year's cruise.

It was been a very busy day at work, so heading home. Norm and I are going to a 60' & 70's concert tonight at our local township park tonight. During the summer, there are concerts every Wed and Sun night. We went last Sunday to see a Carribean Steel Band, it just isn't the same as listening to them on an island.

Have a great evening everyone.

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that. We will be sending our checks AND a self-addressed stamped envelope (so the checks can be returned if we miss Key West) to the following address:
The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040
DO NOT SEND CHECKS, YET!

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM. Remember to wear your ScavengEar t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Tina

 Page 2!!

Still have not properly gone through the latest thread postings. Much going on here.

I do have a question right now, however, for those who booked via Dreams....didn't they use to say on our reservation page how many families booked through them for that particular cruise and because of same we are entitled to a gift? I don't see that anymore, unless I am looking in the wrong place. I haven't checked out that site for a long time because unlike some of you guys, we wait and hoard all our money and pay off the cruise at the last possible second. Someone else said it a while back - better the money in MY bank earning interest for ME!

Windy! Where are you? Are you going to Baltimore?

Arlene - Can't wait to meet you and Andy. So happy you got tickets for the luncheon cruise. Hopefully, this will be a lot of fun.

Cheese and Mary - any progress on you guys attending?

Hopkins - Congrats on winning Viking's award! Hope he manages to resize and get it on the website before 8/2 so we know who to look for in Baltimore!

Hey Silentshot (wonder what that is in reference to) - you wouldn't happen to be near Frankfurt, would ya?

Hey Dan - I hope you approved of the picture I sent Eric of you and Scott and Nate! I didn't ask your permission first but figured you wouldn't mind since you attempted to send some photos of your own in.

Welcome aboard Silent Shot and Gaby. Glad that you will be with us on this cruise. We are looking forward to meeting you, and I know that Eric and Anja will be glad to have someone to speak German with. We are bilingual, I speak English and bad English with a southern accent.

Hope that everyone has a great day and we will talk to you all later. Mike

Rosemary I will find my number and check the dreams website in the am. Mike

Silentshot Is a ref to what my friends Call me when I play UT2003, Quake, DAOC and sooooo on (I can see where your mind is ;) )

We would love to thank you all for the Great welcome and look forward to meeting hopefully you all.

I think some one should warn The Cruise line that sooooooooo many DIS people are coming...

The ScavengEar Hunt in Key West sounds great I will have to check up with Gaby what she wants to do in Key West but if I know her we will be there with you all...

Folks,
it IS a small, small world: Silentshot is from a town about 15 miles from Frankfurt :bounce:
I'll do an update this weekend, probably tomorrow as I'll have top be at the office on Saturday, and on Sunday I'll play the native guide to one of our guests from Denver, CO. We're going to raom the Taunus mountain range, visit a Roman Castle, which was rebuilt around 1900 and the Hessenpark, a kind of Openair Museum displaying historic buildings.

So if you have any requests for changes, please submit them until friday morning EST!!

PS: Prepare yourself for people on the ship talking German, pointing their fingers at you and giggling :jester:
Just kidding ;)

Mike,
we'll have to add the Union Jack to our logo: Silentshot's party is half English and half German.
That is, if we stick to the idea of showing the flags of all cruisers in the logo. But we should be able to find space for four flags - Or do you also want to add the Confederate Flag? ;)

Then there will be a mini-meet in the Frankfurt-area and everybody is welcome. Free drinks for everyone from the States - You just have to buy your tickets :jester:

Welcome SilentShot and Gaby!Glad to have you with us. But...what the heck is UT2003?? In addition to the KW Savanger Hunt we also have several get togethers planned.

Fri Oct 10 Radisson
Sat Oct 11 5pm Sail-a-way party deck 10 overlooking the Goofy Pool
Sun Oct 12 Brunch at Palo (contact TwinAve if you wish to join us)
Sun Oct 12 ScavangEAR Hunt in Key West
Tue Oct 14 Captain Marvins StingRay tour (1/2 day 10am tour)

Rosemary..there was a thread last week about the DU gift thing. They are currently changing the way gifts are being given on DCL.We will have to wait and see how this affects DU. WebMaster Pete said he would post the results of the change (if any) when it is known.

Unless a miracal occurs I will not be able to join you all in Baltimore. :(

Eric and SilentShot...very cool you are having a mini meet in Germany!!!

Hopkins...when do we send the money to KW??

I just made our reservations for the Labor Day NASCAR Race in Darlington! Friends from Fl are driving to SC, then on to the race with us. We did this last year and had a GREAT time!

Time to go to work....have a great day!

Good morning all!!

Thanks Relling.....I finally wrote down all the meeting places. We will be at the Radisson Friday night. Looking forward to seeing all of you. I am sure we will be by the pool around 7. We are going to Islands of Adventure Friday from 9 - 5 then driving over. (Couldn't talk DH in MK!).

The Baltimore meet sounds great. Papa, can't believe you are going. You are so far away!! I am two hours south of you!!
Be careful driving up there!!

Well, better go.........I'm off to Huntsville (an hour away) to take five children to a day camp from 9 - 12!

Mary,
that Captain Marvin-thing: Is it a snorkel-tour? How much is it? Are there still two places available?
BTW, it will be on Anja's BD and as she likes StingRays it would be a nice surprise for her ;) I wouldn't tell her what we're up to that day,and the rest of you would have to keep it a secret, too.

OK...Senior Moment ... Is the Brunch the same day we are in Key West or is it a day at sea? I'm at work and my DIS Cruise Reference Binder is at home.

Jeez I was away for 2 days and you guys went nuts with posts.
"ing someone famous, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!

:Pinkbounc Anyone wanting something really nice waiting in your cabin when you arrive ... use Shirley at Perfect GIft. Also as mentioned she is soooooooooooooooooo nice in getting stuff together on Key West, just send her the postage cause it's a BIG packet of stuff you get in return.

Hope ... Not To Worry...My hubby is also a suit guy and that usually only lasts long enough to get thru dinner and then the tie is history and so is the jacket. He did get a nice variety of Mickey
Ties @ WalMart. Actually Mike & Art can be twins with the same tie!

Mike and everyone else going to WDW after the cruise ... Yes the Food & Wine @ Epcot is when we get back and we have been there before and it is sooooooooooo much fun. Sample the food and wine and get free recipe cards to make the food at home.

ALSO ... Don't forget the Not So Scary @ Magic Kingdom on Saturday night when we get back.

Fiona ... Can't believe you are coming to Baltimore too. Boy you and Mike will get the award for longest distance traveled.

Hopkins ... Glad I wasn't the only one puter challenged when it came to the picture size. Welcome to the club!

Rosemary ... Glad to know we aren't the only ones who wait to the end to pay off the cruise. We keep ours in the credit union as long as possible also.

Gabby & SilentShot ... WELCOME, WELCOME. You have to get with Eric and Anja before the cruise and have a little mini meet like MaryJo, Sarah & San with Art & I ... we had a ball.

Eric ... If you don't ge the tux altered you can always wear it like Leiderhosen (sp) with the suspenders to keep them up! HEHEHE

Colleen ... About the "cute baby groundhog". Just pray that he and his family don't take up residence under your shed. We have a family under ours and I want to choke them. They keep eating the tops off of my flowers and running amok with my vegatable plants. I agree they are a little cute to watch but boy can they cause you grief.

OK after this marathon post I have to get some work done.

Welcome, Silentshot!

DCL has been warned! :jester: Tom McAlpin, DCL's Senior VP of Operations, has known about it since last November. Whether that has any effect during our cruise is yet to be seen . . .

Eric: There are several German families residing here in Spruce Creek at least part-time. :smooth: . . . also a lot of Canadians. The latter will be moving in next door in September, I believe. They are smart enough not to arrive in mid-summer!

Shari

That's interesting about the VP of Operations. Maybe they will mention our numbers at the beginning of a show and ask us to stand of something.

How about... a free personalized picture of the characters?

How about a towel?

How about a bag?

How about a key chain?

How about a pen?

How about a cruise!?

The picture would do!

Tina :)
