Hope....I am lucky that I can get Sam to just wear a regular suit let alone a tux...he works in a glass factory and wears jeans and t-shirts and only owns one suit. I don't think that you have to worry...your husband will fit right in with a few of the husbands...who cares if people feel that if men don't have a tux on, they shouldn't attend formal night...we all paid the same amount for our cruise!!! Tell you husband to just hang around with Sam, Art and Mike and he will fit in just fine!!!

Hope that Claudette isn't adversly affecting anyone at the moment...stay safe and secure. I'm sure that we'll see the effects later on in the week in the form of rain!!!

Talked to bettemom today and we are meeting up in New Hampshire while I am in Vermont on vacation. Definitely want to meet the Newfoundland dog...love that breed!!

Can't wait for Baltimore and glad to see that Arlene and Andy are joining us!! I did see in a previous post (around page 288) that Windermere was planning on going on the Baltimore cruise but don't now if she ever bought the tickets or not.

How are plans for the Ohio meet going???

Had an enjoyable lunch with GoofyNut today...we were both having stressful days so it was good to get out of our respected work areas!! Mary Jo

Hope--- Yes, you can rent the tux and it would be waiting for you on the ship. I'm not sure of all the details. Our local tux rental shop has the same deal, but then you'd have to take it with you.

However, I agree with Mary Jo... if he really doesn't want to wear it and you don't care either way, I wouldn't stress over it. Don is like Sam...... in a factory all week in a work uniform, jeans & t-shirts at home, occasionally polos and khakis, and owns one suit for special occasions. If you have early seating, join our table and I promise you will not feel out of place.

Saw the neatest thing tonight. I was startled by a little, very young groundhog when I went out into the back yard. I must have shook him up too because he scooted over top of the sandbox and hid behind the storage shed. Sure was cute. Not sure where he came from because we live right in town, not out in the country at all. There is a pair of groundhogs living in the back yard across the street from us, so maybe that's where this one came from.

Hello everyone,

I am at work tonight and it took me the last 3 nights to catch up on the boards. Boy we talk a lot!

Congratulations on the new baby! One of these days I am sure Katie will have to give up the spotlight. But not too soon.:D

Mike is anti tux. Sorry, but he has his one suit and it is for weddings, funerals, cruises, and volunteer of the year awards. No tux's in our home. Sorry. We do have a good time on the cruise and don't worry about it. I have been known to wear my sneakers on formal nights. Actually, it was because of my poor feet and not because I wanted to be thought of as antisocial. I just had very sore feet that could not fit into heels.
So, we adjust. Hope you folks don't mind.

This is the last night to work here in the hospital for 5 days and I get to go to work at my second job tomorrow. Yea! I have worked the last 5 nights in a row. I am pooped. Gotta pay for those chairs though. Boy are they comfortable. I haven't gotten to sleep in one yet. Hope to get the time in the next few days to cuddle with Katie in one.

Mike and I are really looking forward to the meet in Maryland. Meeting Sarah, Maryjo and Sam was so much fun. Maryjo is a talker! She said she could pull all kinds of information out of a person in a short time and she did. Just wish we could have had more time to visit.

Groundhogs are so cute except when they are eating your garden you worked so hard to put in. My BIL hates them.

Gotta go and feed a baby. All of you take care and have a good rest of the week. Kathy

For me it's definitely a tux. I bought one especially for Cruisetoberfest 1, but I need to have it altered for Cruisetoberfest 2 or I might lose my pants - And this would definitely not be formal :jester:

Collen, congrats on the new baby!

I bought DH a tux on E-Bay last year. He is also a jeans/t-shirt guy, but he likes his tux. I spend most of the time wareing scrubs, so I look forward to dressing up every once in a while:)

This is for all the "lurkers" out there........
TIME IS SHORT! If you are sailing with us now is the time to post a message and say hello. Don't miss out on all the fun!I promise we don't bite (except RoseMary:p )

Eric, the site is wonderful! Thank you for all your hard work with the site and the List. I did the list last year and I know how much work goes into it!

Since I can't post all the bouncey things like I wanted to I will go back to the weekly bouncey things!

12 WEEKS (and a few days) to GO
:bounce: X12 (Gosh, I can't even post 12 of the darn things!)

Ave, do you want my DS's Tux from last year. I think it is size 6 (maybe 8)

Andy will definetely not be wearing a tux. He will wear a nice suit though. He does not like to get dressed up and always prefers to wear jeans/sneakers. Its not worth the fight.

Cant wait to see everyone in Baltimore. It'll be nice to have a weekend away. Its been a long time since Andy and I just took off for the weekend.

It was great talking to you the other night Rosemary.

Arlene

Jim will not wear a tux either. It's tough enough to get him into a suit, of which he owns one. Since he works at home it's just comfy clothes around here. Mentioned a tux and he just looked at me so that's not an option.

One thing about being away from work for a week is the piles of stuff left on your desk. Am managing to wade through it but it seems that stuff just keeps appearing. My secretary is away next week -- she takes the same week every July -- and it's never been a problem but this year -- boy, her desk is covered and the week she comes back is really busy too. We have a lawyer that only works part time and we share the same secretary. He's swamped too. Luckily I can do most of the stuff that needs to be done -- the only program that defies me is the accounting program so I just ignore that while she's away. It wouldn't be so bad but the office golf tournament (yuck, yuck, yuck) is Thursday afternoon too. I'm hoping for rain -- which is scheduled so I might get lucky. Can you tell I don't like golf???

Friday it's back to pick up Chris for the weekend. He finishes one course on Friday and there's a graduation parade and then he's off for the weekend and starts again on Monday. He's not sure yet if he wants to go back on Saturday or Sunday -- if it's Sunday though he's going back early because the traffic Sunday is awful as everyone comes home from their cottages.

Weather here has been warm but rainy. Seems to be good weather for growing weeds!! Hopefully will have time this weekend to get rid of the weeds.

Looking forward to Baltimore -- need the weekend away.

Have a great day everyone.

Fiona

Forgot -- Colleen - congrats on the new grandchild.

Was talking to my brother yesterday and it appears that my niece has decided her baby brother isn't so great any more -- he'll be a year old next month. She's taken to pushing him down at least once a day. She's also decided that she doesn't want to be potty trained and won't go near it. She'll be 3 at the end of September. He asked about Chris and I said that he didn't have any trouble and was potty trained during the day at about 2.5 and at night at around 3 -- although he did occassionally have accidents. Didn't have the pull ups then though so I don't know if that makes a difference? She was doing fine but in the last few weeks has decided that nope she's not interested.

She was cute though -- her mother asked her what her brother was going to do when he grew up and she said 'go to the office' and then her mother asked what she was going to do when she grew up, her reply? "have lunch with Brenda". My DSIL is a SAHM and her best friend is Brenda.

I knew all of you were great people!!! I feel much better about the tux thing!! Thanks for your words!!

Must run........have to take four seven years to a day camp an hour away!!

Everyone have a great day!!

Hope

No Tux for Norm. He bought a new suit last year and has two different shirts and ties to go with it. The suit was a good investment as he has gotten to wear it already for 2 cruises and the 3rd is coming up. Plus I have been nominated for the "Nightingale Award of Pa", so all the nominees have to go to a black tie affair the end of Oct. That gives him another opportunity to wear the suit.

Last year I bought a new formal dress on sale. However, I have now have had two formal pictures taken in that dress. So am going to start looking at the clearance racks to see if I can either find another top to go with the black skirt or another dress. Sometimes the sales prices are so good, you just can't resist.

Thank heaven that Southwest and Air Tran aren't charging for over "heavy" suitcases. Both of my trips this year, the suitcases were so heavy you could hardly pick them up. I also tried to put everything in 2 suitcases. For this cruise, I promised Norm that I would downsize the packing. Our room is only a few doors down from the laundry, so can easily do laundry. The problem with the cruises is all the extra clothes and shoes you need for dinner.

Since, Eric suggested that we take a group shot in Baltimore, I will defer mailing him our picture. The web site looks really great. Now if I can just remember what everyone looks like and their names, I'll be in good shape. Thank heavens we had Cathy's name tags last year, for us older cruisers who have "senior moments".

I need to get back to work. My coworker is on vacation this week and we seem to be having a blue light special on colostomy surgery this week. So need to get busy and teach these patients.

Later,
Nancy

I think I'll be getting Jeff into a tux, but I'm not sure. We've heard some problems with the compnay that supplies them on board, so we may have to go back to where we got his tux in Tampa and see what they say...

Wow! You all have been busy posting this morning! No time to catch up because Becca's here.

A big welcome to Silentshot and Gaby. If you send an email to Viking at cruisetoberfest2@yahoo.com and give him your info, you will be officially added to the list and will receive emailed updates to the list. If you don't have all the info right now, email anyway and fill in later.

Welcome to SilentShot - (I missed the Gabby post who everyone is welcoming - will have to check thread out closer later.)

I didn't miss the part about "we don't bite - except Rosemary!" OUCH!!! I guess I deserve that it some way or other.

Gotta run!...
