Amy--- Should be less than an hour to get from WDW to Port. We did it in May and was an easy drive.

Wow, Nancy a 3 peat would be wonderful. However, I like to space mine out over the year. Would like to do a back to back sometime. See you tomorrow.

Nancy

Actually, I'm normally quite a procrastinator, but I figured that while I was thinking about it, I'd just go ahead and buy the tickets. And, I want my pic of hotels at the FL resident fall rates, so I need to call soon. Now, the next thing to figure out, is what to have our costumes be. Last year, we went in 50s garb. My mom made Emily and I matching poodle skirts and Chris had a white t-shirt, jeans and slicked back hair. I wanted to try to get Emily in Tinkerbell, Me in Wendy and Chris in Peter Pan, but he wouldn't go for it.

Pretty fun I wound up on BOTH lists... I guess either I'm easy to ignore or no one can figure out what to do with me.. :)

Been way to humid the last couple of days... the storms are coming on a more regular basis to cool it off.. today at 7pm is was 78 degrees and breezy with little humidity.. beautiful!

Can't wait for the cruise (PS if there is a Melting Pot resteraunt near you, you must, MUST, try it)

Sorry for the confusion, Jenkatt - it was a Copy/Paste-error

I have a question for you guys. With the brunch on the first day at sea, does anyone know if Flounder's will be open? If it's not, we'll have to pass on the brunch, because we'll have no one to watch Emily. :( :( :(
Hey Amy,
In case you didn't know: You've got a safe in the stateroom :jester:

Jeff and I probably won't be at the Radisson the night before the cruise either, to much of a drive after work. We'll probably bum a bed at WDW (half way between us and tje port) or at a friend's place in Orlando itself.

I'm waiting on doing the food and wine until the weekend after we get back and my mom comes down for a visit. She's a F&W virgin. :)

Scotch tape trivia - - We have a big screened-in lanai/patio to keep those FL bugs away so we can enjoy eating outside. But the backyard faces the water, so there are always lots of birds, including big herons and egrets that like to catch lizards. Those lizards like to climb the screen. On one occasion, a HUGE bird flew right by and grabbed a lizard off the screen in-flight. It made a very small tear in the screen. I know there are mending kits for that, but we haven't got around to it. So the "quick fix" was a piece of Scotch tape. That was a month ago. It has rained hard many times since then, and would you believe that little piece of tape is STILL firmly on the screen? I was sure it would be gone with the first downpour!

I'm SO sorry you won't be at the 10/19 MNSSHP. I was anxious to see your costumes. ;) That 50's garb last year was so cute, and Emily was ADORABLE!

For anyone who will be there on 10/19, someone started a thread for it HERE.

Yeah, we decided against the 10/19, since we have to go back to work on 10/20. We figured that we were game for staying up late on the first official night of our vacation. We'll have to take plenty of pics with the digital camera, and we'll be able to show everyone on the cruise.

Ha, ha, ha, Eric. Actually sometimes, I feel like that with an almost 2 yr old, who has an attitude. She may be cute, but that reddish hair is there for a reason, TEMPER!!!

That's exactly what we were thinking, Jen. Too much driving for one night. Are you going to join some of us at MNSSHP? It's really a blast!!! The fireworks and the parade were my favorite parts.

Amy,
is that MNSSHP mainly about Parades and Fireworks? I'm asking because, we're both not exactly fans of parades. We attended a couple, but didn't really like them and since then we usually use the parades to go to the best rides or to a restaurant while everybody's on the streets watching the parade.

Eric - MNSSHP is mostly about HALLOWEEN. There is the parade (twice - early and late), "treat" stations at various locations, and great "spooky" atmosphere everywhere . . especially at Haunted Mansion. :teeth: A lot of people come in costume, as I always do, but you don't have to. Even if you are not a fan of parades, you won't want to miss the Headless Horseman, who races down the parade route prior to the start of the parades.

As for the parade itself - Although it is more entertaining for children, I enjoy seeing all the characters made up for Halloween . . . Great costumes and makeup! But you are correct that it makes for short lines at the rides during that time. ;)

Thanks for the quick info, Shari.
I have to talk about it with Anja.

Eric - I have to completed concur with Shari. MNSSHP isn't just about parades and fireworks, it's just that this parade and fireworks are even better than the day to day fireworks at MK. We got tons of candy, walking around to all of the treat stations (which I'm looking forward to taking on the cruise with me, instant snacks). Also, I heard that the lines on the big rides were pretty quick during the early parade, and we went to the late parade. Plus, the whole place is decorated so well. It's well worth it, in my opinion, if you like Halloween.

The MNSSHP setup for the park is awesome! They have big glowing balls over lights everywhere (trick or treat stations, a floating balloonin the sky on a long chain, huge inflatable characters on some of the buildings, funky lights on different buildings up and down Main Street, laser-lights of haloween characters racing around on Main Street buildings, lots of music - it is awesome!

Then the parades have floats all decorated up in Halloween themes with all of your favorite characters - tons of lights! But the headless horseman is a great highlight - a real headless man on a real horse galloping through the parade route before the parade!

As you can tell, I liked it. The evening parade was packed, so unless you lined up (and sat down) early, you were stuck 6+ people back. Of course, that is when the rides empty out...

Do we need to have a regular entry ticket for WDW for this event in addition to the special purchase ticket?. We probably will not go to the park until the evening event.

Thanks, Bette & Kim

Alikat: I doubt we'll do Mickey's not so scary. i've done it the last 2 years and would rather get some rest the night before

bettesmom: your ticket to MNSSHP is a seperate ticket from your pass. It's not like an E-ride night where you need both. It's a "hard ticket" event, meaning seperate admission. It really is worth doing, tho I actually prefer MVMCP (the Christmas party)

Just booked our reservations for Captain Marvins on the 14th at 10 AM. I made the reservations on-line and indicated I was with the DIS Group per your instructions Mary. Any idea how many from our group are going on this outting?

Dave
