Cruise 10/11/2003 Part 2

There's actually a humidex warning here for today because of the humidity which is really awful here. We also have a smog alert for today as well. Last night at the Blue Jays game though I felt cold because of the breeze and we were close to the lake. I'm wondering what it will be like tonight as it is usually a fair bit cooler closer to the lake.

Trying not to complain though as we've waited a long time to wear shorts and t-shirts and sandals.

I'm so glad I am not the only one. I am cleaning out a closet right now so I can put all my Cruise items in there!! I am trying to hide most of them until we get on the cruise!!

I picked up some new shorts and Kathy bought me new polo shirts to wear at dinner on the cruise.

I was able to walk a mile last night and will try to do the same tonight after taking Kathy to work. Have to wait until sunset though when the temps and humidity go down. Only problem then is the mosquitoes and gnats are out.

Good luck tonight at the game Fiona. Hope, there is a ton of road construction in the Nashville area now. Especially between I-40, I-65 and briley parkway in both directions around the opryland area. Mike

We have already bought some personal fans(mini) and they are in the suitcase. Hey Cathy you need to make the rounds of the funeral homes and scare us up some funeral fans on the stick. Guess that is just a southern thing though. Mike

The game was not great. The Jays lost and had 3 errors -- it was awful to watch. But the part of the game that was really unbearable was the 5 young men who decided that it would be fun to run onto the field -- 3 at once. One of them even ran onto the field while the ball was still in play. Part of the problem was that the first one who did it got cheered by the crowd which I think encouraged others. This doesn't normally happen at a game but tonight was the last $2 Wednesday -- all the seats in the 200 and 500 level were $2 so it brought out the 20 something's who were more interested in drinking the expensive beer ($6.25 each???) then watching the game.

I believe that they will be charged with trespassing and since the game is taped they probably don't have a chance which is not a bad thing.

And, to top it off, an older woman (40's) (ok so that's not that old but she definately wasn't in her 20's) was told twice at two different points in the game to stop smoking. The first time she just basically laughed and wouldn't put it out and the second time I think she was told that if she didn't she'd be tossed from the park. They do have designated smoking areas but you aren't allowed to smoke in the stands. I'm not anti smoking but please do it where you're told too.

Ok, I'm feeling old and a fuddy duddy at the moment. Don't have a problem with drinking or smoking but there's a time and place.

Finished with the rant.

Still very humid here tonight but it's supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon and be cooler on Friday.

Want to see a rant? Well I can with the best of them! Just let me go into a home that is full of cig. smoke and has a new baby inside and you will see a full rant with a snit on the side. I hate cig. smoke so bad! My parents and grandparents smoked and when I grew up 6 of my 7 brothers and sisters also smoked. It was awful.

Now I have proof of the damage that it can do and I use it. (I have been asked not to come back to a couple of homes but that is ok cause I just hate to go into it to see the poor babies who don't have any choice in the matter.)

Ok, off my box. I need to exercise, exercise, exercise and watch what I eat. Mike and I are trying but with me working two jobs it is harder than ever to do it. (excuses)

What my daughter said about the "Katie wetting incident" was...She stood up and took off her diaper in the bed and let'er go...ALL OVER THEM! The whole bed was wet. Katie is now in pull ups for sleeping.

Cathy, did Art ever say he was going to go for the Sting ray tour? I forgot to ask Mike.

Yes, we are buying and stashing things for the cruise, however, we have lost things in the past when we have done that. Some of the things I have found later and some are still lost.

I am at work tonight and don't have a baby anymore to take care of. I shipped her off to Normal Nursery and we have only one baby left. Hopefully, they will not pull me to another floor. I am not in charge tonight but I try to look busy anyway. You know, filling up stuff, cleaning the beds, ect. Stuff that day shift left for us to do.

Jeff and I are up for a MN get together around that time also. So lets start brainstorming. Activities are settling down then. Before you know it our summers are over. Schools here then more activities. Oh and then the cruise. We have just decided to go in with 3 other families on a garage sale in September , so we are cleaning out (hooray)and will have a little more spending money on the cruise.


OKWMEISTER, I was thinking about your family in WDW when watching the weather in Florida last week. But at least you were in at WDW. Glad to hear your team did so well. We took your advice and booked a limo to pick us up at the airport to the Radisson. We are going to surprise the kids as we have never done that before. We had a nice surprise this week and learned that one of our DD's soccer team players family are also DVC members since 1998. (The hat kind of said it all) They own at Key West and Vero Beach. He was all excited yesterday because they added on at Vero again, since DVC has a great deal going. It really is a small world. DD last playoff games are on Saturday. Did I understand right that your DS is playing with Dakota Rev?? Are those the traveling teams???

Christy and I would love to arrange a MN get together sometime in mid July of early August if at all possible???

Yes, I have started my cruise "box". I have the lanyards, underwater cameras (left from last cruise), DS tux, 2 way radios, and a few other things. I will wait until school starts to buy clothes, because that's when all the summer clothes go on clearance!

We have all decided to meet on Saturday, August 2 for a DIS Magic Cruise Mid-Atlantic Meet, but we still haven't picked a location. Someone has suggested Baltimore's Inner Harbor for lunch at the famous Phillip's Restaurant along the waterfront, followed by a visit to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Of course, there is also lots of shopping, walking along the Inner Harbor and tours of historuc ships.

There has also been a suggestion of Lancaster, PA.

So, what do we want to do?

Hi!

Summer is finally here! We've been in the 80's and 90's all week and we're loving it! Humidity and wind starting to pick up today and they're calling for rain tomorrow I think. We had an ozone warning out yesterday, not sure if it's still on for today.

Good news--- The creep that stole Jen's wallet and checkbook from the breakroom where she works is in jail for 6 months as of today. Seriously wish they'd have locked him up longer than that. He really put them through a lot. But, at least they didn't just turn him loose.

Amy-- I'll take Chris' cell number with me and give you a call when we get into WDW on the 20th. Hopefully, we can meet for a little while before you head for home. Can't wait to see your Emily... she looks so cute in the pics and she's just about Becca's age.

Good morning everyone. It rained last night and it is now substantially cooler here which is a good thing. It will be quite pleasant all weekend without the humidity of this week which is fine by me since we are still in the process of clipping trees and bushes in the backyard. Our backyard isn't that big but we do have lots of bushes and trees that we are getting rid of.

Will be up early tomorrow as Chris has to be at the pickup point at 7:30am -- I'm hoping that he will go to bed tonight early so that getting him up won't be a problem. He's cleaned part of his room but the lawn remains to be mowed. We'll see if he does it today.

Take care everyone -- busy work day today and Monday as it's the end of the month but we are then off Tuesday which will be nice.

Hi everybody.....

We just finally took the cover off our pool Wednesday night and finished topping off the water last night. Hopefully one ot two more vacumns and it'll be good to go. Now if I could just find a fiant floating palm tree for the middle, I could pretend I was on an island!

Art is supposed to go golfing Saturday ... So it's me and a million chores to do. One of which is to get the suitcase out and start putting in some of the Cruise Stuff. I figure that would be a good gathering place and I can arrange it the way I want just before we leave.

Tonite we have a Red Barons game and I think I heard some guys are in for re-hab from the parent club. If it dosen't rain ... there will be fireworks after.

Mike ... Art said whatever you guys want to do is fine with him, just tell him where to be and when! He'll even "swim with the fishes", so Capt Marvin's may be a go for all of us.

MaryJo ... Have a safe trip and give Mike & Kathy a hug for us when you meet for breakfast.

Tina....I completely forgot about Windermere who lives near Philadelphia...she also expressed an interest in coming to our mini-meet!! Sorry..another one of my senior moments which come so frequently!!

GoofyNut...where have you been and are you feeling better and yes, the entertainment center is out of my garage!!!

We have a local radio station that you can put things on the air for "take it, it's free" and I had an entertainment center in my garage since October (I could barely squeeze my car into the garage!) and I decided to call it in to the radio station and low and behold, Cathy heard me on the radio....can't do anything private in this town anymore!!!

papa...we don't have a decent digital camera so maybe remember to bring yours and we could post the pictures on the web!! Looking forward to our breakfast and hopefully, we'll get to see the catfishes!!

Leaving for vacation in the am and won't be back on the boards until July 14th so papa will have to give me a little dis fix when I see him in Nashville!! Try not to rack up too many pages because I will never catch up!! Mary Jo

Hi Everyone, Finally got to take the kids to see Finding Nemo. What a cute movie! I just LOVED Dory the fish! And the whole shark thing was very funny.
DH had some problems with his truck yesterday. When he got to work and tried to place it in Park, the gear shift thingy just moved around, but wouldn't shift the transmittion. I'm glad he made it to work OK. The shop called today, $300 to fix it. Not as bad as I thought. First time this truck has been in the shop. And it's 10 years old.
Still loving my new job, no patients today so I went in and got some things ready for Monday. Also brought my DS in for his immunizations. He starts Kindergarten in Augusts.
I can't believe we will be into double digits next week! Looking forward to the 99 jumpy guys.
