Nancy -- SARS is still a continuing problem here in Toronto but to be honest I haven't seen anyone walking around with a mask. We actually live just north of Toronto and I work east of Toronto so I'm rarely ever in downtown Toronto. Having said that one of the hospitals closed by SARS is our community hospital. We have a friend under 10 day quaratine because she had physiotheraphy at the hospital. She's not sick though -- it's only a precaution. I'm just hoping that nobody in my family gets sick and needs to go to an emergency ward for the time being. They seem to have the situation under control at the moment although they are still expecting the number of cases to go a bit higher. It's amazing how the disease travels though. So far they have tracked all cases to one person which is just amazing.
We are taking care and watching the news to keep up to date about the outbreak but hopefully it will be over soon. I heard an interview on the radio of the daughter of the first case reported. It was really sad because her mother died and then her older brother died and she and her younger brother were both hospitalized with it but did survive. Both her mother and older brother died before the doctors realized that it was SARS. It must have been so scary for her to be sick and not know what exactly was wrong and whether or not she'd survive.
Waiting for spring weather.
