I want to book CRT for our upcoming trip. I can't pay for it right now but want to book it with dining credits.

Two questions:
1.) Do I have to call if I want to book with dining credits? Will anything be charged to my card right then?

2.) Can I call back later and pay in full so it won't be charged to my dining credits?

I think the online system has since been upgraded so that you can check off the dining plan info and you won't be charged. If you can't make it work for you, you'll have to call. I'm looking at it right now and don't see it, but I've heard it's there.

As for paying- I've done it the other way around...i.e. paying first and then having them switch it to a CC hold and refund my $...so, I'm sure it could work the other way around where you switch it from DDP CC hold to paying OOP.

Two questions:
1.) Do I have to call if I want to book with dining credits? No, you can make it online. Will anything be charged to my card right then? It shouldn't. At the bottom of the CRT reservation page there's a blue link that says "Use my dining plan to book pre-paid reservations." Click on that link and input your resort /Disney account info. Nothing will be charged at this time, but you will have to give your credit card info for the cancellation/no show guarantee.

2.) Can I call back later and pay in full so it won't be charged to my dining credits? You can, but it would be simpler to just let your server know that you've decided to pay OOP on the day you dine at CRT.

When making your reservation on line, you should not have to pay anything. If for some reason, there's an amount other than $0.00 and it says it will be charged to your card right now, call and make the res on the phone.

The others answered the questions just fine :). One thing to note though. It will be better to do this at the restaurant. If you call, the CM may try to cancel and rebook, which could put your ADR in jeopardy.

I wound up in this cxl/rebook scenario last year before the website was changed to recognize DDP for a CRT adr. I didn't want to miss out on the spot that opened up...so I booked online, paid in full, and called to have them rebook that slot using my DDP info and refund my $.

The rep I got on the phone said that this comes up a lot and they do it as a 2-man job so you don't lose your ADR. Essentially, the person I was talking to teamed up with a coworker and one cxld the adr while the other swooped in and picked it back up. I had another friend have to do the same for her CRT adr for her trip back around Christmas and hers also went flawlessly. So, I wouldn't be too worried about having to do this.

Our first time doing CRT - we booked right before the pay in full requirement. I was planning on paying OOP and it confused the living daylights out of our server. I took the cxl/rebook risk on our 2nd trip b/c I've seen several people have their DDP credits deducted anyway when they wanted to pay OOP or told they'd be reimbursed via Disney gift card if they paid up front and were actually planning on using DDP for it. I think they've gotten better about all of this, but the more it is beyond the norm for them...the more chance they won't get it right.

Thanks everyone! I kind of don't want my friend and boyfriend to see how much I am spending on breakfast:eek: so I will try to have them rebook it when I want to pay for it.
