CRT Breakfast - plated or choices??

I am a bit confused about the menu for CRT's breakfast. On the menu database it shows a lot of choices and aounds like a buffet, but from posts I've read it sounds like a plated breakfast. Can anyone set me straight?

Can't decide whether to try for a PS or not. The plated breakfast I saw described didn't sound like stuff my kids would eat. Any waffles??

Plated. It's OK, nothing special. Unless you're kids HAVE to eat with the princesses, there are many much better choices. And sorry, no waffles anymore.

What are some choices that you liked better? We've never done any character dining. My kids are not into princesses--I just thought eating in the castle would be the exciting part. Something with "funny" characters would probably suit them better (ie. Goofy). And I would also like something in one of the parks. Any ideas??

I would not go back to CRT for breakfast... the food was just plain disgusting coupled with the fact that we did not realize ahead of time that it was preplated made for a very bad experience. Our favorite breakfast is Crystal Palace, which is also located in Magic Kingdom... great food, beautiful atmosphere and the best character interaction we ever had. Chef Mickey's is a close second. They are both buffets.

Donald's Restaurantasaurus at the AK sounds like what you want. Loads of fun,great food and large variety, and Goofy Also think about teh Cape May Cafe. While not a park CB, it's a five minute walk form the rear entrance of Epcot, and Goofy appears there as well. It's a great meal, lots of variety and good food and service.

kids ages 0-2 get french toast sticks (free)

kids ages 3-11 get french toast sticks, eggs, bacon (and I think sausage)

I absolutely love the breakfast here. Since I have eaten the food there a lot, I am tempted to try something else, but I also think that there is something special about eating in the castle. Maybe go for lunch or dinner (Major Domo's favoite pie for lunch and the kingdom feast for dinner )

Buckeye>> Sounds like choosing CRT for lunch would be a great choice for you! Everyone must eat in the castle at least once! We went two trips ago and the kids still talk about it. It was my dd's (17) favorite place of all time. We opted to try some new places this time so we didn't go back, but I am wishing we had somehow fit it in! Eating in the castle is such a nice break from the park atmosphere, and the food is fantastic! You can find the menu at www.wdwig.com.

You might also want to try The Crystal Palace in the MK if your kids are into Pooh, Tiger, Piglet, & Eyore.
They have a full buffet similar to the one at Donald's Breakfastasuarus in AK.

I adore the food at the castle for breakfast. Especially the fried cheese danish/stuffed french toast/cheese fritter. They used to serve it plain, then topped with stewed apples, now blueberries. Any way you eat it, it is great.

Cape May at the BC has a very good buffet breakfast with Goofy, Chip and Dale and Minnie.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'm liking the idea of trying the castle one day for lunch---just to see what it's like in there--and then choosing a character breakfst with Goofy at either BC or AK! Sounds like a plan...
