We're going to be at CRT on Tuesday morning and was wondering if I can get a plate for my son who is under 3. We were just there in November with my daughter who was just shy of 3 at the time, so I don't remember if they charged a plate for her. If we say we want more eggs and sausage so I can give it to him, that is allowed, right?

This also applies to buffets and family style restaurants (and the parks too). Children who are even a day under three years old are free. If you arrive at WDW and are 2 and celebrate your 3rd birthday while you are there....you are still free. :goodvibes

My Opinion is this-

No. CRT is a preplated meal not a "free for all", thus the "right" thing to do would be to order him a meal and pay for it out of pocket. Again this is my opinion on what is right and ok and apprioate, though I am sure most do just as you have planned. And to me a preplated meal as this is different than say 1900 or Ohana, but again that is just my opinion.

Why pay for a meal when the policy is 2 and under eat free????

:confused3

If it wasn't the policy then maybe but if that's how they do it a CRT then I wouldn't pay for a meal.

CRT is a fixed price, fixed menu meal, not an a la carte restaurant. The policy there is the same as for buffets and family style - they do not charge for children under 3. There is no obligation to buy a meal for an infant there.

At a la carte restaurants, you do need to pay for any meal you purchase for an infant.

We went last year with a 1 year old and the waiter (very polite, very attentive) brought out a few requested items and some fruit, not a whole plate. Trust me, they are glad to get you whatever you want for your young ones and they are not afraid to get something not on the menu. They know that you are paying through the nose and they actually try (unlike most of the character breakfasts, we did 3 while we were there) to give you a pleasant experience and your money's worth. It was by our favorite for food quality, service, and character time.

I was just there in July and my daughter 7 months at the time and niece 10 months and nephew 2 were brought out spaghetti with butter and cheese. We didnt have to pay.

At CRT breakfast, they do not charge for under 3. At lunch and dinner, they DO charge for under 3 unless you want to share with the under 3 year old off of someone else's plate. We chose to pay OOP for our almost 3 year old at dinner so she could have her own meal. I want to say, thinking back, that they may have offered a very limited couple of items that they would give an under 3 year old for free (I am thinking like buttered noodles or something like that).
