OK we went yesterday 8/11/03 Monday and yes, it was CROWDED AND HOT!
BUT, we actually had a great time. We got there early, at about 8:00am just as they were opening, although we didn't get in till about 8:20 cause of the lines.
We used fast pass all morning, timing it well between attractions so that we could get a fastpass for a popular atraction, ride an attraction that didn't require a pass while the time came up for, then we would get another pass before we used the one we already had and were able to ride two FP attractions in a row, many times holding two fast pasess. By noon we pretty much had done everything we wanted and all the major attractions. Then took an early lunch while everyone else scrambled.
By noon the park was Packed, so the we started doing the shows and minor attractions.
We felt we were ahead of the crowds most of the time.
The moral of the story?
With proper planning and good use of the fastpass system (getting there early of course), You
can have a great time even if it is really crowded.
PS. We took advantage of the Southern california price and purchased Annual Passes!
