We are arriving on Thursday night and staying until Monday. Can anyone give me an idea of how crowded the parks are at this time? The last time we were at WDW in December was back in 1990. Thanks.

We were at the Studios and MK yesterday. The crowds were much heavier at MK. Could have something to do with the filming of the Christmas Day parade. The crowds picked up at the Studios when the sun went down for the Osborne lights. And what a site that was. We saw them on Residential Street many years ago but having the lights on New York street was great. They even had it snow!!!

We're just today back from WDW. Crowds at MK were unreal Saturday AM last. Filming closed down Main Street so everyone entered through what was left of the sidewalk on the west side, and through the gift shops. Crowd was then steered toward Tomorrowland which became a nightmare by 10 a.m.
You should not encounter this mess (which anyone going in future Decembers should note on their calendar: avoid MK on the first Saturday of December as the major filming is done on this Saturday every year). Filming continued Sunday & Monday -- but either the word was out, or the crowds were gone as most MK rides attractions were walk-ons by Sunday afternoon. Do go to Osborne Lights -- they are terrific. Enter through the "Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Kids" playground/restaurant area -- that will save you a huge chunk of crushing crowds. Also BE SURE you go to Epcot for the Candelight event. Get there EARLY for the "General Admission" line. 250-member choir; 60-piece orchestra. Unreal. Stay for the entire (three times you'll think it's over) fireworks. The final blasts will have you shaking. Totally out-of-this-world. Best advice for the parks -- take advantage of EE (be there at opening!!!). Leave when the crowds build or have ressies for lunch. Otherwise, if you won't have EE do what the old general said: hit-them-where-they-aren't and go to any park that does not have EE. Crowds will be lighter. See decorations at GF & WL (skip Poly & Cont -- not much there). Disney-Disney!!!

Thanks for the great advice. We are planning to go to MK on Friday morning so I'm hoping to avoid the weekend crowds there. I'll post a report when we return.
