The 4th of July is on a Friday this year. We plan to visit the DLR on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1st and 2nd. What should we expect crowd wise on those days?
I'm still planning the DL portion of our own CA Adventure (June 28-July 12). It looks like we'll hit DL from June 30-July 3. I'm going to buy the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland soon, so I can figure out where to stay, etc. I was really planning to stay onsite, but I'm not sure it really is worth the extra $$$ compared to WDW...I too am hoping that visiting mid-week won't be so crazy.
We will be joining you there too! Our dates are June 26th thru July 7th. Were going to have 7 day passes so we can do the parks at our leisure. I would expect very large crowds! However we always use a plan like ride max and that seems to make the crowds not a big deal for us. The Unoficial Guide also has some good touring plans that will help you avoid the gridlock. I personally lke Ride Max because I can customize it to our times and the rides we want.
We have been there on the 4th. It is WALL TO WALL people. Luckily for us we had tickets for Club 33 so that made eating a very nice time. Other then that it was PACKED. Not unbearable but PACKED. It is also VERY hot so sometimes little ones are not so happy.
I would not stay on site. An early entry day would help but not worth the cost. The onsite hotels during the holidays just rob you!!!
One hotel we ALWAYS stay at is the Quality Inn on Manchester. It is clean and the breakfast is GREAT! You can make your own HUGE waffles!!! The rooms are small but how much time do you spend in them anyway! There price hands down beats everyone!
If looking at a map of hotels on Harbor it is right behind the Fairfield Inn and Mimi's restaurant.
we'll be checking in on either Thursday 6/25 or Friday 6/26 (depending on how many days i decide to stay in vegas ), checking out 7/3
based upon info provided by hydroguy ; it appears as though the week of 6/22 will probably be just as or even more crowded than the week of 6/27 (which includes the Friday, 4th of July) as it'd be the last week for the Ca resitricted APs for the summer season.
seems to be a good hypothosis, since several of the off-site hotels have much higher rates thru wed/thurs that week. I did call Park Vue to inquire and that was the reason I was given.
note: the UG has a list of all the "big" conventions as does the convention bureau web site. 25,000 of us are expected to descend upon anaheim from the 26th thru the 2nd (plus assorted friends & families) for ALA; not sure if that is considered to be a big "blip" in attendance or notanyone know? Registration for convention-blocked rooms @ hotels just opened last week, might want to check availability (appears as though the supply is dwindling @ the more popular/discounted venues) & secure a room jik if you are traveling during this time
