We have gone in October, 12 years in a row now. I agree that it is getting busier each year, but do have to say that the golf classic has never had any effect on the parks. They do have an effect on the resorts, especially near the golf course (grand floridian and poly). Traffic around the GF can be pretty congested. I also imagine there are a few private events going on around EPCOT, but have never had an impact on the parks. Unless you're staying at the GF or Poly, you probably won't even know it's going on. On another note, keep in mind during F&W that EPCOT gets pretty crazy around WS on Friday night and throughout the weekend. The locals and CM come out for this event in record numbers. If you plan to take in one of the concerts at EPCOT, be prepared to wait in line and hope you get in, especially the big names like the beach boys. No matter when you go to WDW, Saturdays still are the worse day to visit any park, especially MK and AK. We never factor in Saturdays as a park day anymore. We usually will do a morning at a park, then go back late to a park to dine only.
