I am taking my 2 girls ages 2 and 5 to Disney for their first trip this October. We are going Oct 15-19. The Funai Classic is the 16-22. Do you think the crowds will be huge at the Magic Kingdom the days we are there? I know it says the golf tournament draws 20000 people but do they visit the parks as well or just come for the golf? Has anyone been there during the Funai Classic? Please Help!
Melissa

we were there last year, for the saturday and sunday of the tournament, and the crowds didnt seem unusually large. october is getting busier and busier every year.

We have gone in October, 12 years in a row now. I agree that it is getting busier each year, but do have to say that the golf classic has never had any effect on the parks. They do have an effect on the resorts, especially near the golf course (grand floridian and poly). Traffic around the GF can be pretty congested. I also imagine there are a few private events going on around EPCOT, but have never had an impact on the parks. Unless you're staying at the GF or Poly, you probably won't even know it's going on. On another note, keep in mind during F&W that EPCOT gets pretty crazy around WS on Friday night and throughout the weekend. The locals and CM come out for this event in record numbers. If you plan to take in one of the concerts at EPCOT, be prepared to wait in line and hope you get in, especially the big names like the beach boys. No matter when you go to WDW, Saturdays still are the worse day to visit any park, especially MK and AK. We never factor in Saturdays as a park day anymore. We usually will do a morning at a park, then go back late to a park to dine only.

Thanks for the advice I feel much better now that the golf won;t affect my trip too much. We are planning on going to the Magic Kingdom Monday and Wednesday of that week and Animal Kingdom or SeaWorld on Tuesday.

Is the MK park alot more crowded on days when the Halloween Party is that evening or do people come later at night just for that?

We were in the world during the 2004 Funai classic staying at SOG. We had no problems getting in or out of the area and the crowds were not bad. Have fun!
