Sukkot is not the attendance driver for that time of year, it's other considerations as others have pointed out. Hebrew day schools will close during the high holidays, not sukkot, so you won't see people pulling their kids for Yom Tov and then sukkot again (beyond the Shemini Azerit and Simchat Torah dates). But if there is a corresponding holiday in the public system, you will see influxes of families.
If that's when you close down, then that's when you go. I actually like September/October, as a bit of a shoulder season. Yes, it can be busy, but you get a few celebrations like Food and Wine and MNSHP options.
