My mom and I are going to Disney May 7 - 14. Has anybody been at that time and was it crowded?

We're also going in May (5-10). I'm curious for some input on this post as well. I figure it'll be a little more crowded than usual considering the celebration that will be going on.

We went mid-may last year and it was not that crowded at all. The Flower and Garden Festival does not noticeably affect crowd levels.

This year might be more crowded b/c of the 50th celebration, but no one really knows for sure. On 5/5/05 when Epcot closes early, it makes sense that the other parks will have bigger crowds, but I don't think the whole month of May is going to be crazy or anything. Kids are still in school and a lot of people don't even know about the 50th celebration.

It's been a few years since we were there in May, but it seems like a perfect time to go. The weather was warm (not quite hot enough for a native North Carolinian who loves the heat AND the humidity :rolleyes1 ) enough to need the water parks/rides, but the nights were very comfortable.

Crowds were very low, we rode ToT three times in a row one afternoon just because we could. Most people have their preferences, but we really like May and would go back again, but we want Junior to be a little older so we opted for September and hurricane season.

We love going to WDW in May :flower: We have gone the past two years in the begining of May and the crowds have been quite nice. The weather has been beautiful 80's-90's. The only time crowds were high were spectro magic. We too will be there May 7-14 at WL. I am hoping the crowds will be gone by the time we get there.

We went late May last year and loved it!! There were virtually no lines (25 min was our longest wait) and the weather was fantastic! We compared it crowd wise to our January trip! I would expect it be busier this year with the celebration, but would still go myself.

This will be our third May in a row. We love it. We are expecting more people than last year, but I can't see it being Easter/Christmas/Summer crowded. Here's the link to the poll I started: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=746177
There are about 400 people on it so far. But you have to consider that there are about 65,000 members of the DIS.

Were the Memorial Day crowds bad? I've read that on a 1-10 basis with 1 being an empty park that the crowds are supposed to be an 8!

We have always gone in May, but since DS is now in 4th grade we felt we should stick to the school breaks. The park is perfect in May, even with the Flower Show & Star Wars weekends. Just enough to people to enjoy, & very little wait.

We went last year May 8th - 15th and had a wonderful trip. Moderate crowds and fabulous weather! The parks weren't empty but they were not crowded either.

This year we are trying May 14- 21st and hoping for another great trip! Have fun on yours! :earsgirl:

I too would be interested in knowing how crowded the parks are Memorial Day week as I've booked for next year (2006). :earseek:

We've been at WDW the week after Christmas, through New Year's - so how is it compared to that week? Beside too hot?

We went last year over that time and it was not crowded. We will be going this year during the same time and are excited about the big celebration.

We were there for Memorial Weekend 2004 and I have to admit the crowds were just awful! We ended up passing on so many of the attractions because of the lines and the heat. I love hot weather but I never remembered May being as warm in Orlando as it was last year. In any case, after a couple days we figured out that we should hang out at the hotel and enjoy the pool, then head into the parks when everyone was leaving for dinner. That worked best for us. Hope this is not discouraging though...Disney is still Disney and I'll take it any day, crowds or not!!! Enjoy!!

I too thought May would be a good time to go. We are going May 5 -12 and originally reserved Pop. Last week we decided to go to a Moderate instead and there are none available for us (4 + infant). I've called several times and nothing has been available. I don't know if this is the norm but based on that I would say May is shaping up to be a very busy month.

I completely agree. We went at the end of May a couple of years ago and it was perfect. Crowds were low, there were only a couple of rides we did the fast pass on.
Hey UNCCLaw, we are from Raleigh as well and are going in Sept time frame.
Have fun.

This May will be packed....I will be there 5/8-5/14...was hoping to miss the crowds but not this time. All of the moderate resorts are totally sold out as well as a lot of the value and deluxe resorts. This Happiest Celebration on Earth is really screwing us!! Oh well!!

But isn't a crowded day in Disney better than any day at work? :confused3

I hope you have a fantasmic (hehehe) time!

  Last time we were there in May it was very crowded. With the celebration kick off I would imagine its going to be wall to wall!! I am just going to enjoy being there crowds and all!!
