Crowded at DL this past weekend

It was crowded at DL this past weekend. It was our first visit here, but we were able to manage the crowds. IMHO, they need more workers here. For example, the pool bar at the DLH had only 1 guy working on Sunday afternoon, so there was a line for beer plus people sitting at the bar. Sunday night was a disaster looking for a place to eat. It was Valentine's Day, and I should have got a ressie someplace. We looked around for about 30 minutes to find a place that was accepting walk-ins, no luck so it was room service. My kids had never had room service, so it was a new experience ($72 for 4 sandwiches).

Sorry you could night find a place to eat. Many local's come DLR to eat on Valentines Day. Hope your stay was enjoyable.

We were there too :goodvibes we had dinner at cafe Orleans on valentines day with a same day ressie. That surprised me, I really thought we would be out of luck. I know standby was 20- 30 minutes tho. It sure was crowded all weekend long even DCA was pretty packed in the afternoons. :goodvibes

I would have expected it to be busy given it was president's day weekend but was kind of wondering given the huge amount of AP holders that would have been blocked out! We have gone down the weekend after President's weekend the past 2 years and the crowds were not too bad!

This post is of particular interest to me because there is a popular theory on the boards that blockout days are not busy days any longer. There is also a belief that crowds are due to the So. Cal. AP holders.

Valentine's Day was a blockout day for all AP holders except Premium - and was reportedly crowded. (I was not there personally so I do not know first-hand).

I personally believe that days which are blocked out to all AP holders (except Premium) are days that will be very busy. It seems that Valentine's Day supported this.

MikeBW, sorry you ran into some crowd-related issues. I hope your kids enjoyed their first room-service experience! A fun memory for them! :)

We were there this past weekend, too, and it was very crowded. Interesting thing, though, about restaurants-DH had tried for DAYS to get reservations at Blue Bayou and was told it was booked solid for the entire weekend-no openings at all. Yet, we walked up on Saturday afternoon and had a table within 15 minutes. Same with House of Blues on Friday night. Moral of this story? Don't give up on attempting to eat somewhere that you really want to!
