Crowd Prediction Poll: When is your 2011 Spring Break?

I'm in a burb of Chicago, and our break next year is the last week of March.

Allegany County schools in Maryland are taking 21-26th for Easter/Spring Break and Mineral County in WV has not posted yet. It is usually nearly the same as Allegany County because they are side by side. Our vacation is planned for May 2011 to hopefully avoid the high crowds.

We are in southeast Texas and our Spring Break is the week of March 7. It is always the first full week in March.

I think I read where Fat Tuesday will be March 8 next year and I have heard about large crowds for Mardi Gras but would that be the week before Fat Tuesday or the week of or over a long weekend??? Just wondering what to plan for.

Just checking in on my poll. I think these results are very interesting. Probably they mean that the entire span of March-April are going to be PACKED

Not really sure if I should be totally afraid to go during our break or not...last week of March/first days of April will still be really busy, I think. I'll just have to decide!

Most Oregon schools are the last full week of March. Most families we know take the easy 2 hour flight to Disneyland..... but there are a few of us that travel all day to get to the World

Here in San Antonio, TX our week is March 14-18th,,,really thinking about going at that time next year.

Here in New Orleans we have the week of Fat Tuesday off. Student's will get out of school on March 4th and will not return until March 14th. Some of the schools will return on the 10th. We are planning our trip for March 5th through the 12th.

Those of us in Central Ohio and my family in NE/Cleveland area Ohio both have our spring break next year the last week of March. Right now thinking of planning a trip for the 10 of us for that last week and crossing fingers it won't be too crowded.

Gwinnett County GA is April 4-8. Another GA district who's schedule is tied to the Masters Tournament. (So stupid!)

Subbing to this. I am now in a state of total confusion, LOL. I had completely eliminated April as a possibility for 2011 - thinking the entire month would be packed due to the late Easter. We've gone in May 2x before and loved it, but DS will likely have state testing the first week in May, so that's out and then sports get too busy. I had settled on March 5-12 to avoid crowds, but I was very worried about the weather. If we're going all the way to FL, we want warm!!! Plus the kids LOVE to swim every afternoon in the Poly pool, and we like to do Blizzard Beach. DH's main priority is lower crowds, shorter lines. So this morning I'm looking at the Touring Plans crowd calendar. Mar 5-12 is 4's and 6's. April 9-16 is 5's and 6's, one 4. Hardly a difference!! Now I come to this thread and see that April 11-15 hardly has any Spring Breakers!

So what to do???? Much better chance of warmer weather in April I would think. But I'm still scared of the crowds. anyone think that will really be a "slow" week in the middle?

King George County Virginia schools -- April 25th through 29th

We are in Paulding county in ga right next to cobb and we get are the 4-8. I was thinking of going memorial day weekend and that following week but I was worried about the heat. I might consider spring break now. It might not be so bad. I just have to figure out which will be the best time with the least amount of people.

Our school calendar was FINALLY approved today (lots of arguing over start date mostly) and they kept Spring Break the same as usual - Good Friday and then the week after Easter. The kids return to school on May 2 and last day of school is June 2!

We have ALWAYS had Easter week off in our area. Next year our school district is switching and going to March 14-18 and we'll have Good Friday and Easter Monday off.

I have to make a decision too for next year's vacation. In the Western PA areas(Pittsburgh) the school districts usually just have a long weekend for Easter. Should we brave these dates: 4/16-4/23 or visit 5/7-5/14
The third option just stick with our regular time period of the second week of June when my DS begins summer vacation.

We are from Southwestern MB and our Spring Break runs from March 28 to April 1st in 2011. We are taking three extra days ahead of break and three extra days after break to fit in 6 days in Orlando and 3nt Cruise (we are driving down and back). By reading the threads it appears as though our cruise may be pretty quiet...not seeing alot of Spring Breaks scheduled that week (we sail March 31st)

Our Spring Break is March 14-18. After seeing all the horror stories the past few years about crowd levels, I will never plan to visit this time of year.

Seems like it's getting later every year, our schools were just out for break, came back and had 5 weeks left til last day which was last Friday, and one of the weeks was CRCT testing and last week finals, so there were only 3 weeks of school left that weren't test days. Next year will be even less with only 4 total weeks in between returning from break and last day of school, why bother...
