Crowd levels

Any idea why crowd levels are so high right now? I made a reservation for this weekend (tomorrow, Sunday 10/9) but then took a peek at TouringPlans and was shocked to see that all parks are 8 and 9 crowd level. Is something special going on this week besides the usual Food & Wine, etc.?

It’s Columbus Day weekend.

The parks are always crowded on a holiday weekend, plus I think a lot of schools in the south are on fall break next week.

The fall uptick in crowds has begun. The quieter parts of late summer/early fall are behind us.

Thanks for using the site! For the Magic Kingdom, Tuesdays with MNSSHP events should remain good days to visit. And for the AK, days with EETPH at Magic Kingdom seem like they're good days to visit.

I still think EPCOT and DHS are tough to predict because of the combination of high ride downtime, low # of headliner attractions, and ILL/Genie+. If you're headed to those parks and haven't seen the newer headliners (GOTG, ROTR), it's probably worth purchasing ILL, just to avoid the risk of spending an hour in a standby line before getting kicked out when the ride breaks down.

Thanks! I won't be going on GOTG in my lifetime, LOL! I'm not a thrill-rider. Favorites are TSM and Soarin' and I've considered whether I want to try Genie+ for the day. But I like to listen to audiobooks while I walk, so I was thinking I could just listen while I'm waiting in queues, as long as they aren't ridiculously long (need to be under an hour estimate for me to bother waiting). I also noticed that MFSR has a single rider line and I could try that. Also TT has a single rider line.

We have gone mid October for the last 8+ years and its nearly always been crowded. For fall, DVC is usually nearly full till January. September tends to be less crowded and then the crowds return until January. Early December used to be quieter and that also has changed.

Just our experience. We got Genie plus for Epcot and it was definitely NOT worth it. We got Ratatouille at 12 and by the time we could do our next fast pass, everything goof was gone well into the evening. So, we basically paid $15/each for one ride.
