Crocs Vs. Sneakers: Which Would You Choose?

I would choose sneakers without question. I KNOW they work fine. DW tried on a pair of crocs & said they felt strange.

I would pick the sneakers. For my feet at least, CROCS are just a blister waiting to happen, they also lack arch support (my arches are extremely high).

OTOH, I love Keens. They are more expensive than CROCS, but they're also a much studier shoe, so they'll last longer. They also offer more protection for the foot.

We're all taking our good sneakers we already own that we know we can walk for miles in (non-car family so we walk alot) and then buying crocs as our vacation shoes once we arrives as they cost roughly 50% less in the USA than they do in the UK (we're looking at $50-$60 an adult pair and $40ish for kids pairs here) if they don't work for us then we've still got our old sneakers to wear and crocs for garden work when we get home at half the price we'd have paid buying them at home

I wouldn't wear any shoe to Disney that I hadn’t thoroughly broken in and tried out at home. Everyone is different. While some LOVE their Crocs, I, personally, can’t stand them. I won’t go into why for fear of offending the Croc faithful. :rotfl2: Definitely try before you commit.

I personally love my Ecco sandals for theme parks. I used to wear Tevas, but after trying the Ecco sandals, I will never go back.

If sneakers work for you for a full day of walking, and you have a brand you love, there is no reason to try crocs (at least for a full wdw day). You found something that works for you. I probably wouldn't tempt fate. Certainly try them around town at home, gradually longer periods first, at least.

Now I love my crocs!

I live in my crocs flip flops in the summer, and wear them to Kings Dominion. At WDW, I switched between the regular Beach Crocs and the flip flops. Not a problem at all! My feet never hurt.

I have tried so many expensive athletic shoes in past trips to WDW. I'm talking I went to numerous specialty stores, where they measured my feet, discussed my needs, looked at my arches, etc. And each time, I ended up with sore feet, sore legs, sore arches. Tried special inserts...spent loads of money... no difference.

Crocs are the only shoe that I can wear all day. My marathon-runner husband and "supportive athletic shoe"-loving father act like wearing crocs is about as sensible as wearing stillettos, but they work for me!

I vote for Crocs too! Last October, I went to WDW with my Crocs Islanders and a pair of Nikes. I wore my Crocs to the all the parks and had no problems at all. The one day I wore my Nikes was to go outlet shopping and my feet hurt! I was wishing I had my Crocs on.

I also toured Europe for 3 weeks in my Crocs and my feet did not hurt once. We walked everywhere...Rome, Paris, London, lots of Cobblestone streets, etc... I did get some funny looks though, but atleast my feet didn't hurt.

I have yet to give in to the crocs fad and haven't bought any for me or my family.:tilt: After reading the boards, some people swear by them for the best walking shoes. I know that if I don't wear sneakers for a full walking day at Disney, then my knees hurt. Does anyone think that crocs would be ok? Also, do they rub much? They seem to be very roomy, leading to blisters. What does everyone think?:listen:
I wanted to add that I had mentioned this thread to my mom. My dad is a Crocs lover, My mom a crocs hater, but the one shoe they both love and got my husband hooked on, are Merrells. I have a pair of the sandal ones and they are great shoes too. I never even thought to mention them. I think if you buy them through LLBean and have a problem , they'll even replace or refund them. I know the salesman in the show dept told me that about dh's mocs last time I was there. :) Just another suggestion.

OK- question about Merrells- are they as cushiony inside as Crocs? More cushiony than an athletic shoe?

Thanks for all the great input!:thumbsup2 My kids definetly want them and I think I will try them; maybe get them on an end-of-summer sale so I have enough time to try them out before our next trip.:flower3:

I would definatly go with sneakers over crocs. I have two pairs of crocs, but I could never wear them all day. I don't sweat in any other shoe, but put my feet in a pair of crocs and they get all sweaty, which causes blisters. For me they are just okay for walking to the mailbox or doing stuff around the yard where I can take them off easily. I know some swear by them, but to me they just aren't all that.

Have you tried Keen sandles? They have an arch support and have a similar feel of a tennis shoe, but are a sandal. They are AWESOME and sooo comfy!! All four of us have a pair (even my ds because I think he just looks tooo cute in them:rotfl2: ), and after trying on mine and/ or dh's, I have convinced the inlaws and other relatives to get them too.

I bought a pair of regular crocs the beach ones I think and a pair of the crocs flip flops, the athens ones I think. I didn't like the regular crocs at all. They just didn't feel comfortable on my feet. But I LOVED the flip flops. My feet never hurt the whole week and that's all I wore after the first day. My feet swell really bad and sneakers get uncomfortable.

DD also lives in crocs. She has numerous pairs and we're constantly having to get new ones because she wears them out. She wore her's all week too with no complaints. Although she was 4 and in the stroller a lot.

I need to get another pair of the flip flops before our December trip. DH wants to get a pair of the slide on ones for the beach. I'm hoping that he will like them and carry them on to Disney in December. I think he would be a lot more comfortable in them if I could just get him to try them.

On our two trips, I've ALWAYS worn just Crocs. I tried wearing some different shoes (not sneaks, but comfy shoes that I had worn a lot in the past) and ended up with blisters.

With Crocs, NO blisters, no sore feet. I would have sore LEGS, but that's to be expected!!!

Just be sure to size them properly.....they should have some wiggle room.

I have FLAT feet (hardly any arch), that are kinda like a duck's foot. Narrow heel, wide at the toes. The shoes I have worn there are the Beach style and the flip-flop. The flip-flops are AWESOME.

Depends on the show how cushiony they are but they are an extremely comfy shoe. This is the shoe I have. http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/st...langId=-1&categoryId=54060&sc1=Search&feat=sr

You can see the footbed pretty well in the picture. Since they are a completely different from a croc , it's hard to compare comfort. The ones I have are more like a sueded finish. They have slip ons, hikers, dress shoes; an entire array of different shoes.

My dh has a pair of hikers which he LOVES but they keep his feet very very warm. He also has another pair of hikers that look almost identical but are vented. http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/st...langId=-1&categoryId=53970&sc1=Search&feat=sr but he said even those can make his feet sweat... and to be honest I don't need him to tell me.. when he takes them off I can smell them. LOL

I got mine from Cabela's at the end of the summer for only $30. They were regularly $70. Worth every penny!

I live in my flipflops but I always bring a pair of my sneakers w/ just in case and on my last trip in feb I had been wearing my sneakers b/c my heal was hurting and they decided to fall apart on me but I could barely walk in my flipflops b/c they provided no support for my heal. I really don't care for the traditional style crocs but I knew they would provide more support than my flipflops so I went to buy some well they didn't have my size at the stand I stopped at and later I found a pair in my size that were the ladies minnie janes and OMG they have been great I since bought another pair of mary janes and a two pairs of prima ballet flats. I still wear my sneakers and will most likely wear them on my next trip but I will definitely be wearing my crocs to AK b/c they dry quickly after Kali River Rapids.

I think it would also depend on the time of year that you are going. My DH insisted on wearing sneakers in August but wasn't happy when they got soaking wet from the rain. He thought that Crocs weren't very manly but now he is a Crocs convert and wears them all the time.

we visit wdw a few trips a year and I ONLY bring crocs, 2 pr, thats ALL, NO SNEAKS, AND iM EXTREEMY COMFY ALL WEEK LONG, WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL.

I took 1 pair of sneakers on our trip in September. Big mistake. It poured rain the very first day we were in the parks. My shoes and socks were soaked. So, I sucked it up and bought a pair of Dis Crocs at the MK on our way out for the next day. I let my shoes dry in front of the AC in our room all the following day and wore my new Crocs with thin socks. They were pretty comfy but my feet got more tired wearing them. For the rest of the trip I put on my sneakers in the morning and carried my Crocs (very light) in my backpack. When it looked like a rain storm was iminent or when getting on a wet ride, I changed to my Crocs. This worked perfect! No more soggy shoes and socks.

:rotfl: I take wipes and hand sanitizer. I love when they take their shoes off and they have dots. LOL

We have the Disney Crocs, so we have feet covered in 'Dust Mickeys'. My DD actually pointed at my feet and said 'Hidden Mickey!' the first day we wore them! :rotfl2:
