Crocs or no Crocs in the parks?

If you have Crocs - beware.

They're outsourcing the manufacturing now, and they're NOT the same quality and measurements as the ones that used to be made in the USA plants. I bought the same size as my USA-made Crocs, and I got horrible blisters that have left scars as a result.

They're not as great as they used to be - I'd advise a good pair of Merrill's before the crocs.

I have to agree the crocs we've recently purchased are not the same as the ones we bought maybe 2 - 3 years ago. That being said, they are still ugly but comfortable for my family and me. I trade back and forth with my crocs and my Keen sandals and my feet stay reasonably happy with all the walking we do at Disney. I can understand they are not for everyone as we have friends who just can't wear them and be comfortable.

The problem with Croc's is that while your wearing them you can slip and die and then you'll be caught dead in 'em. :lmao:

Crocs are ugly.

My ex-husband used to clean pools in shoes that looked the EXACT same.
I refused to let him wear them for any other use. This was before they became known for anything other than work utility shoes.

To this day, I am surprised that people are so blinded to the fact that they are hideous. These will eventually go by the wayside, just like fanny packs and tight rolled jeans. Yes, I know people still wear fanny packs... but they always agree that it is not on fashionable terms. With crocs they are still attempting to be "trendy."

Wear a great pair of tennis shoes. Maybe then you won't look back on the pics in 20 years and say "what was I thinking!" (although, those pics are kinda fun too).

I'm not blind to the ugly factor .... Crocs ARE ugly. They are hideous and dorky looking, but I am recently converted. I resisted Crocs since they came out, said I didn't care how comfortable they were, they were just too goofy looking to wear.

Well, I found them at a great price and decided to try them just for running to the store, going out in the backyard, that kind of thing..........

I have NOT worn any other shoe since I got the Crocs. They are SO comfortable and I think that makes them more than a trendy fad like fanny packs. Seriously, I never dreamed they would be this comfortable. I have always worn good tennis shoes, they have served me well, but they really aren't as comfortable as Crocs. Maybe I'm just getting old, but now that I've tried Crocs and see the difference I won't be not wearing them just because they are ugly. Comfort is winning out over fashion sense.

I said I would never wear the hideous things(although I do think they look cute on kids). We went to MK about a month ago, just for the day, and I wore Croc flip flops purchased at the Crocs Outlet for just $10! They had not been broken in, and I couldn't tell it, because my feet felt great all day. Very Comfy! No blisters or anything! My kids live in crocs. The one time we bought walmart croc type shoe...DD got blisters. So stick to the real ones!

I'm a flip flop girl, but my DP swears by crocs... actually I don't think shes ever worn a sneaker in the parks

Have you ever tried croc flipflops? I wear them and love them. Yes, they are big and give you extra room on top, but I'm also a flipflop girl and my feet feel great on them!

I may be in the minority, but I didn't find them comfortable for walking long-distances. My back killed me both days I wore the crocs (no problem with sneakers or leather sandals) and I got the most blisters with them too. I like my crocs to use as "outdoor slippers" for walking the dog in the morning, etc, but I won't wear them for long days on pavement anymore.

Me too, except I no longer have a dog. :) It wasn't my back, but my actual foot. I think I have a tendancy to turn my foot slightly damaging my plantar fascia. See below.

The one thing I will say about Crocs inthepark, is that they are just about perfect for the water rides and as pool/water park shoes or shower shoes (If you are easy prey for athlete's foot). If I had a stroller, and room in my luggage, I might consider chainging into Crocs just for Kali, or maybe during a downpour day.

I have posted this many times, so I apologize for reposting, but I finally found good sneakers by going to a runner's store. They looked at how I walked, and gave me a few suggestions. The price was reasonable too. Now when they need replacement, I just go back and know what to request. the sneakers I settled on, have extra heel cushioning and extra heel stabilizers.

I also always bring a second pair of sandals, my personal favorites (after trying lots of other popular brands) are Eccos. They are not the best shoes to get totally soaked though.

Simply put, the investment is worth every penny.

In my humble opinion, if you are into fashion or consider yourself to be a fashionista then crocs are a big NO. If comfort comes first and you really just don't care then they are a big YES. I think kids look super cute in crocs but adults are a totally different story.

Last year, first day I wore my tennis shoes (ones that were well broken in), end of the day my feet were killing me! Next day I wore my crocs (with socks ;) ) and I never felt foot fatigue. My feet were happy all day!!! I'll definately be wearing my crocs again this year. They just make such a huge difference!

I wore my crocs in December and my husband made fun of me. He wore his Sneakers that first day. On day two, he sported the Crocs I bought him and wore them the rest of the week. We looked like dorks but were super comfortable!

I agree that Crocs are some of the ugliest shoes ever created, but for walking all day in WDW for me they are a must. I tried wearing sneakers for one day on our last trip in October,2008 and my feet and knees were killing me by the end of the day. So from now on it's Crocs all the way. We also like them for at the airport since you have to remove your shoes now. Easy removal and putting back on, escpecially with a 4 year old.

That's so funny - dh will be wearing crocs (for comfort, not fashion),and I'll be the one with the fanny pack - what a pair we'll make :):)

:cool1:
He's wearing his crocs in the parks. Why do people say they are ugly? My Mary Janes are bee-you-ti-ful. Little girls in crocs with their princess dresses...nothing cuter. They are the perfect theme park shoe.

Us on our last trip - complete with Crocs, fanny packs, oh - and the floppy hats we took off for the pic! :rotfl:

I'm wearing my tangerine mary-jane Crocs to the World this year. I love them, they're comfy, if they get wet... so what, they're light and airy, and they're super cute. I also wear Uggs at the parks when it's colder (and I know people think they are ugly too)

Wear what you like, but wear them only if you're comfortable. It makes me laugh when I see women walking around in the parks in heels!

I don't see how they COULDN'T rub blisters! Every single pair I have ever tried on has been HUGE on me. They will be fine in length, but the width just swallows me whole. They're even "too tall" for my feet. My feet slide around in them, bad. I bought a pair of the Adara online, thinking they might be better, but no dice... I put them on, they are just the right length, but I can get two fingers between the top of my foot and the straps, and I can actually turn my ankle WITH the shoes still on, soles on the ground. They felt very unstable.

Just a tip, I don't think they are made with narrow feet in mind. I think they work best for people with very wide feet. I'm going to keep mine, just for when my feet swell in the last month or so of pregnancy and I can't fit in anything else!

Same here - my feet swim in crocs, so I couldn't wear them even if I wanted to....too wide, too high and just too chunky for my feet. I even have trouble finding the right fit for something like sneakers or plain kick-around slip-on shoes....and my feet aren't crazy narrow or anything, usually a medium width, but some mediums are way too wide (or high). Socks for Disney - always diabetic socks - they're thin and breath well, but a double layer of synthetic fabric that helps totally avoid blisters when you're walking around all day long!

Just please don't have your whole family in matching crocs!
