Okay, as a die hard Birkenstock person, I've always had to laugh a bit at crocs...they are just so dang ugly. I've tried them on even...every time I looked at my feet I'd laugh...my DF told me that he wasn't sure he would be *ahem* attracted to me if I walked around in clown shoes all day... :rotfl:

Yet I continued to find myself oddly drawn to these lite-brite shoes! SOooo...I found a pair online for $15...the Niles...they weren't the ugly originals...I'd give them a try for $15...they arrived today in all their hot pink glory and can I just say...hmmm not so bad! Yes they are a little odd looking but not too far off the beaten track. They are extremely light and while the footbed contour isn't really matching my foot arch, they seem pretty comfy. I'm used to the massive support of the birkenstock, but these might be okay...I don't hate them!

(okay so I'm having a hard time admitting that I might be diggin my new crocs! I will NOT cross over to the dark side!!! ;) )

now we just have to see how the DF likes them...

as far as fit goes, in case anyone is interested, I normally wear a 7-71/2 and I got an 8 in the Niles and they fit perfectly. They'd have been too small otherwise.

I have to put on my Birks now to remind myself where my heart is! ;)

just in case anyone was interested...and it seems no one is...the Niles are pretty neat-o!! I may be developing a blister on my little toe though...I'm going to wear them all day today and see how they stack up against my birks!

I'm very sad that the most interesting thing in my day is whether or not rubber shoes are comfy...

Haha welcome to the dark side! I love my crocs, and I hope you turn out to not *hate* them. The niles are a cool style and hot pink sounds like an awesome color. It's good that you are at least giving them a try...who knows you might become a permenant member of the dark side!
Glad to hear about the shoes...and I'll be checking back for a trip report of
MY DAY WITH MY HOT PINK NILES:PART 1

I was also turned off by the clog type crocs but I love my Niles! There not as wide as some of the other crocs but just as comfy!

My DF said that they were "cute" and he noticed them right away...part of me gives him props for noticing new shoes...but in a way it stinks that he is so attentive to detail b/c I can't pull that "Oh I've had these in my closet for ages...I wear them all the time..." thing...so he knows when I've bought new shoes! dang it!

They aren't wide at all...they are hugging my feet nicely. They just feel so odd but are oddly comfy...but I still maintain that nothing will ever match the comfort of the birks footbed that fits the contours of your feet exactly!!!

but I'm still not hating them! YET! :p

It takes about three days for Crocs to mold to your feet.

Where did you find Niles for $15???

honestly I'm kicking myself b/c can't remember the name of the website!! I did a google search for them, went to a bizrate site and found it there...I did my ordering and that was it...I think it was shoestring.com or shoesonastring.com ...something like that. I've tried to do the search again and haven't been able to find it. :guilty: I promise though, if I find it again I'll post it!

so far so good...they are massively casual though...they'd be okay for WDW and running to the grocery store...but I'm going into Manhattan this weekend to meet up with some friends and there is always a lot of walking involved, a perfect time to see how they do, but I swear if I tried to wear these on the Upper East Side I'd be banned from the island for life! :rotfl: ;) Then again, those $2 chinese slippers were all the rage in the City last summer...ya never know what will fly with that lot! ;)
