Crocs at the park?

My kids love to wear crocs but DH insists they won't be good for the parks. He's worried about the issues with crocs and escalators, etc. Now I can't think of any escalators at the parks, but has anyone ever had trouble with crocs getting on and off rides, etc.? We leave in two weeks and I don't want to buy new shoes to break in at this point. Thanks!

Crocs are the only thing I wear in the parks! I see kids all over the parks wearing them too. As long as they fit and don't flop off with every step I think you would be fine.

they SELL Crocs at the parks..

the only escalators i know of are in the Lands Pavilion -- and seriously -- i don't think getting crocs stuck in escalators is a major issue..

They are very comfortable and perfect for the parks in my opinion.

Crocs getting stuck in escalators is an issue. Many places do not allow them on escalators. For example, I have seen a store employee posted at the escalators in an American Girl store directing Croc wearing shoppers to the elevator.

I would be more worried about water. you hit a puddle in Crocs & you can hyrdro-plane. I would check the soles of the crocs make sure they still have tread. that being said I did wear crocs on my last trip, mainly at nite with socks :rotfl2: & jeans, it felt so good.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the only true escalators are in the Land/Soarin Building. Having said that, there are several moving rubber walkways in several of the rides that work the same as escalators, they are just level. You will find that Crocs are some of the most popular footware worn in the park. You can find a number of threads about shoes here. I believe that if there was much of a chance of getting hurt because of them, Disney would ban the use of them in their parks. Customers, especially children, getting injured is not good for bussiness. Disney not only allows them in the parks, they sell them. I am sure that you can find an incident where someone got hurt doing almost anything. I think that you chances are better of getting struck by lightning here in Florida, than getting hurt because of Crocs.

Crocs are the only shoe we wear the entire week!

Best thing besides being comfortable is you don't have to worry about your feet getting wet when it rains or for any rides that have water involved.

:rotfl:That sounds like a guilty pleasure.

I wear only crocs in WDW nothing else and have never had any problems, even when we went and I was 20 weeks pregnant! No problems with any rides either.

Crocs are great in the park!!!!

As a parent who DS got his Corcs caught in an esculator:rolleyes: it can be very scarey. Thankfully DS Crocs are big for him(either too big or too small:sad2: ) the Croc just rolled and pulled off his foot. Marked up the esculator with a nice green streak;) We had to go find shoes right away as DS had no other shoes. Mind you DS was @ 2yr at the time. To this day I remind him to stand away from the side of the esculator so his shoe does not get stuck and to step when we get to the bottom. We ride them without an issue.

All 3 of my sons and my DH wore Crocs during our last trip in May and I wore my Croc flip flops. We were fine. Even on the moving platforms on the rides and the escalator in the Land Pavilion. I just kept my boys feet away from the side of the escalator, and more towards the middle of the step and they were fine.

Also, it's not just Crocs that are dangerous on escalators. It is also flip flops. Any soft rubbery shoe can get caught in the escalator. Just be cautious and you should be fine!

Have fun on your trip! :goodvibes

I think untied tennis shoes are more dangerous than Crocs on escalators, since it is a lot harder to slip out of a tennis shoe.

That being said, I always wear my Crocs at WDW. They are SO comfy! Like a PP said, do check the treads. I slipped a few times in my older ones and had to replace them.

My dd (3) wears crocs all the time. She even has a pair that is lined for winter. My dh also wears crocs on vacation. They are his go to foot wear for any type of trip that we take that involves an amusement park, waterpark, etc..especially Disney. I however only wear my Nike flip flops that have the foot molding material in them...love them. My dh, dd, and myself really don't do well in tennis shoes when we are anywhere on vacation...especially somewhere like Disney. Tennis shoes get really hot and when they get wet, they take forever to dry. In my opinion, tennis shoes are uncomfortable for any activity that requires a lot of walking in humid weather, but that is me.

Tennis shoes can also be dangerous on escalators if the shoe laces are untied. When I was young, I was getting off of the escalator at our local mall and my shoe lace got caugh. It was scary and my mom freaked. Instead of taking the shoe off, she ripped the lace out of the escalator somehow and by the time she got it loose, it looked like a rat had attacked it :lmao: Its funny now, but it could have ben a disaster.

Our family personally wouldn't leave for any vacation, especially a Disney vacation, without our crocs and flip flops, but that is us. Take your kids crocs and another pair of shoes. Let the kids wear them in the park on the first day and then decide from there whether or not they were practical, didn't cause blisters or other problems, and then decide. :goodvibes

I totally agree that untied tennis shoes are far more dangerous!!!

Actually, now that everyone mentions it, I remember buying DD #1 a pair of Crocs the first time we went to Disneyland! She wore them and had no issues. DH wasn't there that trip!

Thanks, will let them do Crocs. I'm also wearing some, but the nice flat ones they make for adults.
