Crockpot Recipes

I haven't read the whole thread, but, here's my input. I'm sorry if these have been suggested.

Take boneless, skinless chicken breasts and add:

Cream of Chicken soup or
Cream of Mushroom soup or
Cream of Broccoli soup or
Cream of Celery soup or
Cheese soup or
Broccoli & Cheese soup or
Salsa(one can) or
Cheese dip

Add one of these soups to the chicken that is in the crockpot. Do not dilute. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve with your favorite starch(i.e. potatoes, rice, noodles).

This works with Pork Chops as well.

I also do quartered potatoes, carrots, any kind of roast(pot roast, pork roast) and a packet of dry onion soup. Add a little bit of water. Cook for 6-8 hours.

Has anybody had good luck making batches of baked potatoes in the crock pot? With the chilly weather here, a baked potato bar night is sounding yummy! I actually just ran through Wendy's drive through because I've been craving a potato all day!

Oooo, if anyone knows how, let me know! That sounds good!

I've done it but we didn't care for them. The potatoes ended up steamed instead of baked. I read somewhere that you want a really dry potato so that it soaks up all the butter & yummy fattening stuff you put on it. Steaming doesn't dry out the potato so it doesn't 'soak up' as well.

FWIW I bake my potatoes at 450 for an hour in the oven. If you like eating the skin its probably too hot as the skin gets really brown & crispy. However, if you just want a good baked potato, I recommend 450 for an hour.

Be sure to prick the potatoes with a fork before putting into the oven, or they may explode :scared1: from the steam build up.

Most of the crock pot recipes to be served over rice or noodles can also be used with a baked potato.

I found a good sounding chix recipe and it's in the crock-pot right now. I'll let you know how it is later:

CrockPot Brown Sugar Chicken Recipe
It should be noted that this chicken has been named "Candy Chicken" in our house. I don't think my kids have ever eaten so much chicken in their lives. If you are bored with dried out, boring chicken, you must try this.

You simply must.

Go.

Now.

Go to the store and buy the ingredients.

go.

The Ingredients.
--12 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, or 6 boneless, skinless breast halves
--1 cup brown sugar (it's okay. you can brush your teeth after.)
--1/4 cup lemon-lime soda (stay with me...)
--2/3 cup vinegar (I used white wine, but think regular white would be fine)
--3 cloves smashed and chopped garlic
--2 T soy sauce (La Choy and Tamari wheat free are GF)
--1 tsp ground black pepper

The Directions.

Use a 5-6 quart crockpot for this recipe.

Plop the chicken into your crockpot. Cover with the brown sugar, pepper, chopped garlic, and soy sauce. Add the vinegar, and pour in the soda. It will bubble!

Cover and cook on low for 6-9 hours, or on high for 4-5. The chicken is done when it is cooked through and has reached desired consistency. The longer you cook it, the more tender it will be.

Serve over a bowl of white rice with a ladle full of the broth.

This recipe is awesome!!! You can pretty much use any carbonated beverage you have at the house, if you don't have lemon lime on hand. I have some in the crock pot today and I used the Dr. Pepper that I had in the fridge.

Okay, I had to do it, here are all the recipes on this thread to date. I've listed them with their post number. When looking remember that there are 15 posts per page. Enjoy!

I made this tonight (Slow cooked sirloin) & it was excellent & very easy. I've been looking for crockpot recipes that call for steak because sometimes the Angel Food steaks we get are a bit tough. This was very tender & everyone loved it, including my picky son. I saved the leftover gravy with chunks of onion & bell pepper & froze it. I plan on thawing it in a few weeks, cooking & adding a lb of ground beef & serving it over rice or noodles.

OMG!!! You rock! Thanks for all of the work!:worship:

subscribing, I just bought a new crockpot at Penny's 7qt for $19.88 - I want to try the brown sugar chicken first! I gotta get cookin

In the crocpot now:

POT ROAST

1 Bottom round roast sprinkled with salt and pepper. Sear in hot oil for a few minutes to brown.

2. Put it in crockpot with: carrots, celery, onion, corn.

3. Dump a can or two (depending on size of roast) of Campbell's Tomato Soup on top.

4. Cook.

5 Slice and put back in sauce for 1/2 hour before eating.

6. Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

I love dinner being done at 7:30am!!!

Someone posted Pepperoncini Beef sometime ago and I modified and simplified it to chicken because that's what I have at home. Then I made it into salad topping which I thought was really yummy and healthy...

Since I only made for 1 person (I made it in those baby crockpot :) ):

2 chicken breast (I defrost them in the microwave first to speed up the slow cooking)
1/2 packet of italian dressing mix
1/3 jar of Pepperoncini (12oz jar) with the liquid (the liquid is the best part).
Shred chicken when completely cooked through.

For the salad:
A bowl of Lettuce salad mix
2 TB of light sour cream
2 TB of chunky salsa
Then top the salad off with the shredded chicken.

YUM!!!
I think the only bad thing in this recipe is the sodium content.
But I'll drink a couple extra water to flush them out ... ;)

Enjoy!

I made this last night and my family loved it! I increased ours to about 4lbs chicken breast the entire packet of italian and the whole jar of peppercini's.........no leftovers though-just too good!

What can I make tomorrow? Any suggestions?

I have pork chops and have apples, ginger, green beans, salt, pepper, etc. I also have some canned pineapple.

I don't like too many flavors mixed together. Any suggestions that use 1 or 2 of the ingredients above?
