Crock Pots

i know they do not have crock pots in any of the villas, but do they have any available for me to use in our 2 BR at AKK? Or, should I just pick up a cheap one and ship it down?
Also, since I've never really cooked down there, because we usually used the dining plan, is there a pot big enough to cook spaghetti? We have decided the dining plan is just too expensive for 5 adults and one child on this trip!
I use a crock pot occasionally at home, like twice a month, but think it could work well for some cook all day casseroles! I have a couple of great breakfast casserole recipes!
Any other cooking tips?

I don't believe so and most timeshares prohibit frying pans though a crock pot is less risky, I've never ask about that option.

Thanks, I misunderstood your post. One can get a crock pot for $20 and it'd be a great choice for an owners locker. One could potentially even have it delivered to the resort though some charge to receive such things and some don't.

We did some cooking this past weekend. The big pot is big enough for spaghetti but the casserole dish is a small one...not your normal 9x13. I ended up using it and the glass bowl baking dish to fit my breakfast casserole.

Will you have a car? You can always just buy a slowcooker at Wal*Mart or Target when you are there instead of shipping it. We rarely cook at the resort but one of our favorite things to do is use the BBQ and cook the sides in the room (on on the BBQ). You'll need charcoal for the one at AKV.

The BLT list shows an 11 piece pots and pan set, if that is the case they should have larger pan, if not they might be a request item. I am not sure what you call it because my family always called them dutch ovens even when didn't work in the oven.

Something to consider ... sous-vide devices are compact enough to fit comfortably in your luggage, and you could probably use them with the spaghetti pots to make some fun dishes. This one in particular is VERY slim. https://www.chefsteps.com/joule

I've wondered about using one.

I wonder if they are allowed.

We drive so it would be simple to take one.

I keep a crock pot in my Owner's Locker. It is a small one (only 3 quarts), but perfect for just DH and myself. We were at AKL just a few weeks ago for 11 days and cooked in it 8 of those days. If you know beforehand what your favorites are, it's easy to plan the meals. I buy the disposable crock pot liners so that I don't have to wash it ..... That is really the key to keeping things simple. It only took about 5-10 minutes each morning to throw everything in the pot and we had a much better/cheaper meal than if we had eaten out. We are planning a big family trip for sometime in '18 and I will more than likely have a much larger crock pot shipped down for that trip. It's much easier than waiting for a restaurant table with a couple of toddlers.

I think the biggest issue is having a heat source going while you're away from the room. It would be best to check and make sure it's allowed.

Many bathroom devices are a heck of a lot bigger of a fire risk than a crock pot! That is not to say they are allowed

It is a risk but I think there's a large difference between the crock pot and frying pan which generally are excluded at most timeshares.

But most people don't leave the stove on cooking in the fry pan, while they are gone.

Crock pots are left for the day.

I understand the difference there but the external access to the heating elements is also significantly different. I think the crockpot is inherently less risky than the frying pan even if the crock pot is unattended but certainly any unattended appliance increases a risk if it has a cord including a razor, toothbrush, heated throw, rice cooker, the regular oven, dishwasher etc. Also some use a frying pan like a slow cooker and do leave them unattended, there are even appliances designed to be both.

We've used a crock pot many times at BLT, BCV, and AKL so we'd have dinner ready when returning from the park, including days when housekeeping was inside the unit. They've never said anything. We do take care to keep other things well clear of the crock pot when it's on. We check it in its original box as one of our free bags on Southwest. The only rub is the airline check in at the resort won't take it so on the return we need to carry it to the airport and check it there.

I know people use them but I couldn't leave something cooking where other people could be impacted. I just couldn't take that risk.
