croc (flip flop)wearers help pls

i have croc flip flops and hate them. i prefer their slip on sandals. the ones i have are the cleo and patra styles. this is what i plan on wearing to disney. i have worn the others to many other theme parks and they are the only shoes i wear in the summer. the problem i had with the flip flops is that they are either too big or too small. i wear a 6.5, but bought size 7 in the sandals. the sandals are very comfortable and easy to break in.

I can't remember if I got my first pair of Athens in 07 or 08 but I have made at least 3 trips to WDW in them and won't wear anything else. I do get a blister in the back of my heel when breaking them in (how weird is that when there ARE no backs to the shoe!) but after that I'm golden. We do WDW commando style and I never have sore legs after a hard day. Before I had Crocs my legs would kill. I think they're kinda ugly but the style of the Athens actually prevents blisters in the normal places like under the straps and between the toes because they are molded and don't really rub at all. Just ignore the back of the heel blister... :p Oh, and I did go a size down with them. :goodvibes

I have the Athens & that is all I wore the whole 7 days we were at Disney & my feet were fine. I got more colors for this year.:thumbsup2

i wore the athens 2 years ago every day at the parks and had no problems at all! they were worn out well before now and i just ordered a pair of capris for this year and this thread is making me nervous!

hopefully, they will be ok though... i have pretty wide feet...

for those of you who prefer the athens over the capris, what's the difference that makes them better?

i guess i'll see when they get here!

I much prefer the capris over the athens. The athens have a hard rubber strap between the toes. It was very uncomfortable for me. I have the microfiber strap capri, and they are comfy. I wore these exclusively last summer for 9 days without problems. I have never tried the canvas straps.

I do want to note that the straps do not fit as tight with these as other brands of flip flops do. All styles of crocs seem designed to fit loose IMO. The shoe is so lightweight that they do not come off even though they are loose...if that makes any sense at all.

I decided to keep them although they may not be my pair for wdw. I wont be buying any other crocs though, for the price, I want to like then right off the bat, plus there are a select few that are not ugly to me, most I dont like. I prefer thing style to slip ons, so Ill have to look at other choices.
I was looking at Teva Mush- they dont seem to have any arch or support-like a flat cheap flipflop. Do they mold to your foot? I also like a thicker heel like the capri has, its better on the back for long walking days.

I wear the Crocs Crete( Mens version of capri). I have multiple colors. These are by far the best flips/shoes that I wear. Feels liek you are walking on air. And they look very good.

re: Teva Mush. They DO have fairly decent arch support, and your feet sink down into them (the Mush part), and they do mold to your feet. My pod. recommended them (plantar fascitis), and they are the best I've found for doing the parks. (FYI- the styles with soft fabric straps, like the Wedgewood, seem to be narrower and fit more tightly). I can't wear Crocs of any sort any longer-I wore them for almost 2 solid years, and they really messed up my ankles. Strange, but true. Anyway, try the Teva Mush's-you won't be disappointed.

i have the regular crocs and they are ok but i am a flip flop girl through and through. i order the athens per the reviews and the first day i wore them it gave me a blister on my toe from the hard strap rubbing. i didnt give up and i tried them again about a week later for healing time and they havent hurt since. i ordered my girlfriend the mens santa cruz croc and they are the most comfortable croc i have ever tried! :worship: i order myself the womens santa cruz and it did not even compare... :confused3 i have some rocket dog flip flops (the thicker version) and the teva mush and they are great. i also like the athens but havent theme park tested yet. for any guys out there or women who dont mind the mens version santa cruz they are amazing!

I am seriously considering crocs for my first visit to wdw in July, never had them before but i have heard they are very comfortable, I am looking to buy a pair of athens and also the 'original' shaped ones, I will steer clear of the canvas capris because I can just imagine the blisters, but the normal capris look ok, not sure if I would wear them all day in the park though!

I have 6 pairs of the canvas/cloth strap Capris and absolutely love them. Have never gotten a single blister from them of any sort even after 15 hours at the MK. The Athens ones being all rubber just didn't work for me at all. My feet felt "hot" with the rubber straps where I don't have that problem with the Capri style. I live in Florida, so I'm in one pair of the flips or another practically 24/7, 365.............:cutie:

I will take your word for that then, I think I will invest in some Canvas Capris after your advice, and I will 'break them in' before I go, I guess you know best, seeing as you live in Florida!! We don't get that kinda weather over the pond in the UK, especially where I live!!

Thank you

I'm not saying that "I know best" - I was just making a statement that they work well for me here in Florida as opposed to the Athens style. It's just whichever Croc works best for you personally. :cutie: My sister lived in Windsor for many years so I totally understand the type of weather you're referring to in the UK.

Have fun on your trip.:goodvibes

I used to pooh-pooh at croc-wearers but I simply couldn't escape the fact that they were sensible footwear for WDW. Plus, I've more or less brain-washed myself that they are cute in a really flamboyant, I couldn't care what the rest of the world thinks kinda way.

So my fiance and I have bought a pair of crocs each! I was toying with the idea of getting bright yellow matching ones [so that we'd look like the disney ducks!! :donald:*insert his horrified look*]. but I think there was some conspiracy going on between him and the salesguy because all the flamboyant colors for XXL were OOS. :rotfl: Lucky him finally got a pair in safe, boring grey and I got bright pink Minnie Janes!

I have to say that I'm nuts about the Jibbitz. So far, I managed to psycho him into getting matching Chip and Dale ones, but I'm highly tempted by the Cheshire and baby Mickey & Minnie ones.... so I think I'm gonna just sneak back to the store while he's on campus this week.... :cool1:

Now, it's just a matter of breaking them in. Does anyone have any experience with the original clogs and Minnie / Mary Janes? Are they comfy enough for WDW boot camp?

I wore broken-in crocks in Sept. 2008 -- never again. I had so many blisters on the bottom of my feet I could barely walk! From now on, I will wear a good pair of walking shoes! :cool1:
