CRO Can No Longer Check For Codes!?!

Definitely mixed reports on this so far.. that could be explained by a rogue CM who got some info wrong in a meeting.

I can understand a business not wanting to tie up their staff (be it their own or a call-centre staff member) with a thousand calls a day all wanting to know the same thing - "Do I have a code?" However, since so many of us know that if you don't get the answer you like, call again, then this rumored refusal to answer will only wind up costing more CM time as us DISers call again and again until we get someone who will answer our question!

I would want someone to be able to look up a potential discount attached to my name IF I ask about it, but I know in the past the information could not be offered to a caller unless they asked first. If I ask though, then I expect the CM on the other end of the phone to verify my eligibility for a discount and not have to wonder if they did or not. Perhaps this latest issue is in response to the massive call volume they must have with people asking about codes and calling multiple times. The problem that I have with that is that people are often encouraged to c/b since a code can come out in the future that may be valid for them. The other problem is that some people may not have gotten their mail or email due to valid reasons and should then be able to check to see if it's attached to their name. Seems like this year there's a little more consistency after all the problems with last year's 40% offer but it would be much easier for all concerned if there was a clear policy that all CM's enforced. Well, it would really be much easier if everyone could get a great discount if they asked about it and there were no personal codes.....right? When someone finds out that others are getting a better deal than they are, for a random, unexplainable reason, to me it just generates ill will and jealousy vs. creating magic for the people who DO get it. Can you tell I've never worked in marketting? LOL.---Kathy

There could be several reasons for this. I worked at a call-centre and call time was a big issue. I, never paid attention to that. If I had a caller ask me 5 questions and it took me an hour to explain or sucessfully deal with all that callers questions, I did. However, there were some who were on and off the phone very quickly in order to keep their call time average. They were frequently told they were rude or did not answer all questions but praised for call time. I frequently got into trouble for my long call times but praised on my 100% customer service whenever my calls were monitored by higher ups. BTW it was not Disney I worked for but a US based cell phone provider.

Another reason could be that the information as to what they could offer or tell the customer changes so frequently that the CMS have trouble keeping up with all the new info out there. As well, a new CM that is not farmiliar with the system or is new could simply not know how to look for that information or be overwhelmed by a request.

Lastly, as PP have stated, the CM could just not want to because they are tired of just checking for a code.

I called yesterday and was told they can not see if a code is attached to your name. When I told the CM I know that they can he said that yes they use to but they can't now since the latest system update. That now you will be notified only by email or snail mail.

I hung up called back and asked again if any discounts were attached to my name and a very nice and friendly CM said let me check that for you. After hearing her clicking the keyboard for a bit she came back and said I don't see anything at this time.

So seems to me it just depends on who you talk to :)

It is my understanding that the CMs cannot tell you about a discount unless you ask. I think I would call and ask for what dates/resort I was interested in and politely ask "are there any discounts available during my stay?" - this does not just mean PIN codes, but a general public discount as well. If not, you can ask if one might be available if you modify the dates.

I did exactly this one year (as I had read it in a Disney travel book) and the CM responded by asking me if I had a 3-letter code. When I said no, she said I would need to know a 3 letter code to receive the discount. I went ahead and booked. About 2 weeks later, I stumbled across a code on some Disney related site, it was good for the dates we were traveling, BUT... the offered had just expired but would have been good at the time I called.

Back then, I wasn't as Disney smart as I am now... I didn't know where to look for codes and didn't know to call back and speak with a different CM.

I spoke with a GREAT CM this morning who check me my DH and my 6 kids names for codes and didn't have any problem doing it!!!

I just got off of the phone with a nice cm and was told that I had a code under my name and one under my husbands as well. Now, just trying to find a time to be able to use it. ;) I have never received an email or a postcard and have had several codes thoughout the years. Keep trying everyone!

I just got off the phone with a friendly CM, but she said I would have to give her the code and she could then see if she could apply it. I even asked about General Public codes, but got no where.

Last year we had a ressie made without a code. I got on the dis boards after the 40% came out and said someone please give me the 3 little letters. They sent me a private message and I gave it a try. I did not have a pin number or any thing. They looked up my resie and said, sure you can use that. Saved me 400.00! It does not hurt to try. I checked this year, we are going in Sept. for free dinning, one CM said yes, but free dinning was better, and the next CM I talked to said I did not have a code by my name. So I have no idea if I do or don't. I don't really care, cause I am only planning on going in Sept., but might of thought about a few days after Thanksgiving for the Christmas stuff if I could get it cheap enough.:confused3

Do you have to have a reservation in order to ask if there is a code attached to your name? Also is there a 800 to call and ask. I've been thinking about making a reservation for a room only for september, but I need a code to be able to go. TIA
