CRISIS...DCL freezes reservations

We were one that booked for Sept 5 DVC this year, and needed to reschedule because DVC group chartered. But I was able to book the following week. It was only for the 4 day Wonder Sept 5, 2005 that this happened. Sure sounds strange that it will be for quite a few sailing like that...

I am pretty sure the DVC Member cruise booked like in 1 or 2 days. So it went quick. I believe it was their 2nd one. My guess (and only a guess) is that maybe they are offering a few more cruises since this one in Sept. was so popular. It takes a lot of DVC points to take a cruise..so they may be adding an incentive or something. We're using points for our 3 day this July, but are going to pay cash for the 7 day one in Sept. 2006. If they require people to rebook..they SHOULD give them something. I'd be pissed..if I had to rebook. Sept. is the cheapest time to go!

Actually, the DVC member cruise for this Sept sold out in less than a day, somewhere around 5 or 6 hours. I was one of the lucky ones that was booked in the first 15 minutes.

There have been rumors that DVC is going to do another member cruise. They may be deciding which week to book it, so they are suspending new reservations until they decide for sure. I guess that we'll have to wait and see.

:worried: We are booked on the 9/7/06 3 night for our 10th anniversary kid free trip........I wonder if/when they will notify me that we need to reschedule. When this happened last year, how far in advance did they notify people that were already booked? Was there any compensation or bonus specials offered?

Dry Docks -

The Magic goes into Dry Dock this year. The Wonder went last year and will go next year. They alternate years.

Just checked the Disney site for 4 day cruises in Sept 2006 and only the 9/3/06 date comes up. Should that mean that cruise is safe from being hijacked?

Wonder is in dry dock Oct 1 -15, 2006

We were in this situation last year and it ended up being the ship was going into dry dock so our cruise was cancelled. Although, judging from the dates of the currently scheduled drydock, I wouldnt think thats the case here.

Good luck to you all!

Tom (my extra Wonderful TA) from All Seasons called me at home and told me the blackout dates had shifted and my Sept 3rd, 2006 cruise could now take new reservations or make changes to existing ones. :rotfl: He said they shifted/changed the blackout dates and my cruise was no longer affected. However, there are still other cruises affected for the Wonder. If I hear anything, I will let you know.

Ok guys now you have me worried. We are going this year in September on the Wonder. We booked back in January. Nothing is going on for September 1 3 Day Wonder is there?

I have never thought about his happening. We normally book 3-12 months in advance for our DC. I think I would be devasted if this ever happens to us. I so love DCL.

All I remember is that we had to rebook for a different weekend, and since the price was the same and we had no probs getting what we wanted with the new reservation. And you are right, the DVC cruise booked up real quick. We choose another weekend close to that one that worked for us also. Maybe they are repositioning the boat to Greece or soemthing like that!!! :cloud9: Wouldn't that be a fun cruise to be on...
I could dream...... :wizard:

That is great news for the 9/3 cruisers! I remember several companies reserving the ship including NASCAR. Unfortunantly it can & does happen.

Maybe DCL figures that is the month that it makes the least amount of money, so any charter can have those months.... Bad for us Floridians who wait for those months to do the cruise. Then there is always October!!! :rotfl:

Wow! I knew it was quick, but I didn't know it was THAT quick!

I'm sure that you're fine for this year. The DVC member cruise is on Sept 4th, so we're going on right after you.

Anyone heard anything else about this? I looked on the DCL website and the three week in the middle of September don't show any sailings. They're only showing a 4 night beginning Sept 3 and a 3 night beginning September 28.

Still curious.

I asked my TA at dreams. They don't know any thing about it. I asked them what happens if DCL cancels. They said you get your money back or rebook. I don't want my money back And as far as rebooking I want a cruise at the same rate because everything has gone up since we booked. I just wish we would know what's going on. I anyone hears anything please let me know. Thanks Debbie

I believe if they cancel the cruise, you get to rebook a different date at the same rate if the cruise is the same length. From everything I've read, they treat you fairly, except for the fact that you don't get to go when and where you planned.

I was told by someone (that has info )that DVC was going to have a member cruise every year now.I hope they will tell us on this years member cruise.
