I completely agree. I wanted lots of hugs! I really thought JJ was about to hug Reid :sad2:

I did, too. They aren't normal "FBI." They really are a family. :grouphug: For Reid, other than his mom, this team is his family. He & J.J. started the show & the team together, rather young. They kind of grew up together, during the show.

Very off topic but this is my 500th post! I'm officially a DIS veteran! :cool1:

as an alabamian who has seen way more about the NH case than i care to admit, i drew the comparison almost immediately.

::yes:: I thought only Law & Order, wrote cheesy stories with such obvious references to real, current crimes in the news, then try to put their own "twist' on them. I hope the writers aren't going to go that route with this show.

Maybe they figured the crime part of this story was a throw away, since no one would really be concentrating on it. :sad2:

So why is JJ's character leaving the show?:confused3

Yes, why???

A.J. Cook's(J.J.) contract ran out and the idiots at CBS didn't want to renew it

Yes, that is the behind the scenes, real story. Season 5 ended every one's contracts and they were up for negotiation.

A.J. Cook's contract was not renewed.

After a long renegotiation, Paget was able to renegotiate for one more season, with less episodes this season.

In term's of J.J's story line, it has to due with what happened in the Season 5 finale & the Season 6 premiere. As I recall, neither of you got to see them yet. Trust me, when I say, you want to wait to watch what happens, when you get caught up. :sad1: You've watched for 5-ish seasons, you don't want to be told how she leaves. :(

i think you're right, perhaps they didn't try so hard because they knew it would be hyped as JJ's last episode, and the crime was just peripheral. i'm disappointed that they didn't write something better for her last show, but it helped a little that the story ended on an up note. if only natalee could have been found as well, dead or alive.

Maybe its because I RP Garcia in multi fandom but I was feeling her tonight.

The Holloway tie in was pretty obvious from the start, right down to the rich connected suspect. The PP who mentioned Law & Order, that is the exactly what I thought. I thought they were going to try and make a statement about that case through the script which I'm glad at least they didn't do (they didn't make the rich kid the killer). I found it a bit far fetched that they found her alive but they probably didn't want the downer of her being found dead or not at all in addition to J.J. leaving.

Oh they found her alive, I missed that. I kept falling asleep. That's what you get for trying to watch TV in bed. I thought Hotch was going to hug JJ. I still don't understand why CBS would not renew her contract. :confused3 I guess the only explanation is what someone else mentioned - they are idiots.

While watching the episode all I kept thinking was that the writers were getting their digs in at the executives by the line of JJ wanting a raise, that she doesn't want to leave etc.

I also couldn't help but find it odd that the characters feel like family yet she only hugged one of them goodbye but she was supposed to stay with the team "until the end of the week." Aren't Garcia and Spencer her son Henry's Godparents? I don't know why but it just seemed odd that Garcia was concerned that they will drift apart but JJ will be staying in the area and Garcia rarely travels so it seems natural that they will stay close.

I'm stumped why they wouldn't renew her contract! JJ will surely be missed :( I'm glad that she didn't get killed off or something real dramatic - they definitely left the door open for her to come back

I'm so mad. I knew stupid Strauss had something to do with it. Even though she said she didn't, I bet she made it happen. I'm just ticked off that they fired JJ.

JJ looked beautiful, as usual.

I haven't read all the posts, but am I the only one who picked up early on that the dumb kid was really the brains behind the operation?

The only thing that made me happy last night was Reid's hair looks good pushed back as well as in his face.

I wanted to cry when Garcia did. She loved JJ.

I'm glad Morgan is back to his normal self.

Why can't they find an unsub to kill Strauss? lol

OH, and did anyone else think they should have used JJ's departure to the Pentagon as a spinoff? I don't want Criminal Minds 2.0. I'd rather see something different from the producers. And the Pentagon setting would be perfect.

While I feel for the two actresses I can see the rational behind it. New charactors are to add some freshness to the show if it stays the same without charactor change its going to get very stale very quickly. I mean how many work places dont have people leave the job, people change job new people come in that is life and if the show is to stay fresh then change is necessary.

I can see this. When the one guy left suddenly and the new guy with the beard (I have such trouble remembering names) replaced him, I wasn't too sure I was going to like him but he's grown on me. And the dark haired girl wasn't around in the beginning either. And they put that one girl in for awhile too.

While I hate to see favorite characters leave, it does make room for new story lines. And I wouldn't be surprised to see JJ pop in from time to time. Maybe they are leading up to a new series. NCIS and CIS have both done it.

I said the same thing.

I was disappointed. It was so unfair, but I kind of liked it, because her everyone hated her leaving the team, while we all hated the show. It makes me feel like our feelings are the same as most of the cast.

As a side note, we just found out a friend of ours who is an actor in LA will be "the bad guy" on the November 3rd episode!! He won't tell anyone about his role, but we know he's "not nice".

How cool is that? I can't wait to see that episode now!

I tuned in last night and I just didn't enjoy it either. Maybe next week will be better.
