So now that the weather is shaping up, I've been hanging out on my back deck listening to podcasts. I really like the CaseFiles series but I'm looking for other recommendations or any specific episodes.

*I prefer the crime ones, but I'm open to any recommendation.

Criminal is probably my favorite true crime podcast. I also listen to Someone Knows Something, which tells a cold case story each season. Both seasons of Serial were also really good.

For other true-life podcast recommendations, I'd go with This American Life, You Must Remember This (which tells stories of Old Hollywood), Unladylike (from the former hosts of Stuff Mom Never Told You), BackStory (the hosts take topics currently in the news and delve into their history), Dear Franklin Jones and Heaven's Gate (which both tells stories of cults), Science Vs (which takes a topic and explains the science behind it), Stuff You Missed in History Class, and Stuff You Should Know. If you're a fan of the musical Hamilton, listen to the HamilCast. I also really like Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, but that one isn't for everybody, since episodes are few and far between and tend to be really long (the last one was over 5 hours).

If you want something more supernatural that pulls from real-life events, try Lore or Unexplained.

For fiction podcasts, my favorites are Welcome to Night Vale, TANIS, PleasureTown, and Thrilling Adventure Hour (which is now mostly defunct). Welcome to Night Vale and TANIS are both very much in the sci-fi genre, and PleasureTown has an old-western type feel.

(sorry, I listen to a LOT of podcasts!)

I found Crime Town first series really good, was pretty shocked to find out the influence the mob had in Providence. I had mo idea.
Plus the weird intro music will stick in my head for a year now.

Serial is my favorite, I also liked Up and Vanished, Criminal and Sword and Scale.

The first season of Serial was great. I didn't listen to season 2. I just wasn't as interested in the Bowie Bergdahl story.

Last Podcast on the Left, if you aren't easily offended. They do a lot of serial killers but throw in other stuff too, the Jonestown episodes were excellent.

I didn't remember this one but I agree with you that it is an excellent podcast. I may need to go catch up with their episodes now so thanks!

The Dollop is a lot of fun - looks at American History you've never heard of (or Australian history for their live shows in Australia which are by far my favs!) There's lots of foul language and you'll sometimes feel like a horrible human being for finding some of it funny but a couple of episodes have had me crying with laughter even after multiple listens (Episode 207 The Animal Horror of Macquarie Island is one of my favs!)

Sword and Scale and True Crime Garage are my two favorites - listened to all episodes of both. Currently making my way through Generation Why which is pretty good. I have heard good things about Thinking Sideways. Theres also Cults, Serial Killers, Criminal, Those Conspiracy Guys.

I'm listening to Atlanta Monster right now. It is about the Atlanta child murders in the early 1980's.

I just finished both seasons Missing & Murdered. Each season discusses a missing indigenous person from Canada.

I just stared the Jonestown series on Crimefiles.

Sounds interesting!
